Back when CENT was first launched, was there any marketing, website etc?

No, it wasn't even announced. shake just put it up on his website and somebody thought they'd do him a "favour" and post it here.

cat man, we need to atleast limit how many cents can be created.

The idea that there will be possibly infinite amount of coins is a bad one.
People even say there are too many Dev coins..

Either way it's crap that Doge coin has so much value.

cat man, we need to atleast limit how many cents can be created.

I don't really care myself, and that's an impossible task with proof of stake.
Go complain to sunnyking.

Either way it's crap that Doge coin has so much value.

Why not? If pennies has it why not dogecoin?

Really it's simple, in a few days i will endevour to buy a trillions @ 0.0....1 and 0.0....2. Once the stake fix hits, i will compare my holdings to overall money suppy, if i hold more than 5% i will then remove my coins from the market. I'll encourage cryptsy to remove their own sells as well like last time. Price may rise up to 0.0....7 or more.....

I don't follow, having to create dozens of small orders vs one large one has no effect on whether or not there are sales. Still trading the same number, just annoys the user.

If it is impossible to limit the number of coins with POS, then reduce the amount of pos, so that it is incredibly small amounts then? Is that possible?(I say this because I think it would be good to reduce the number of coins being made through pos as well)

Some other things to think about:

1- pennies can use its own thread at bitcointalk.org don't you think? to advertise better?
2- I don't think that the current coins ought to be reduced because people have paid for those coins(I don't know how it would be done anyways)
3- pennies needs an optimistic dev, who will work to help to increase value for people who have invested into pennies( sorry, but some of us have invested too much, for this to be just some 'experiment' or 'just for fun'. I think we are serious people and serious about making our investments increase in value by helping pennies to grow and flourish)
4- I think a realistic long term goal for pennies, would be to try and increase value so that one penny/cent will eventually be equal to 1 cent US. (think about it, how even at 1/1000th of a cent US, there might still be new investors who are investing to try and get 1000x their investment(because obviously pennies should be trying to be equal to 1 cent US, don't you think? )
5- Everyone get excited about this great opportunity to buy in very low on pennies, with our goal to get to 1 cent US Smiley Wink Cheesy Grin
6- maybe pennies can have its own forum on the internet? Go pennies Go Grin

Oh, and by the way, at current prices, if pennies does ever get to 1 cent US, then that would be

MORE THAN 100,000 TIMES YOUR INVESTMENT you are making in pennies today(some people might reconsider selling so low)

Reducing the PoS is exactly what the latest update did, are you even paying attention?

1. I repeat: I have no desire of advertising this coin, neither did shake. This was never even supposed to be on here.
2. They aren't? Where does everyone keep getting this idea, no one is doing anything to the coins still in your wallet.
3. I have other, significantly more interesting and useful projects to work on. As I said on that other forum, if anyone thinks they can improve pennies they're free to fork, modify, and send a pull request. I'll commit anything that seems sane. I'm just not going out of my way to tape more features on a coin that doesn't need them.
4. Sure, market forces aren't something within my control anyway, that's up to the people trading them.
6. There's already a pennies forum on cryptocointalk (yes, i have moderation privileges in it), that's as independent as it's getting.

( doguecoin is some kind of mass-marketing hype thing. I looked up the word 'dogue' on the net, and
it turns out that its an italian word that means 'duke'...)

I theorize that doguecoin might be some kind of political coin, that someone who wants to be duke of venice(dogue of venice) might use this coin?
I cannot see any reason why doguecoin would have 2500 bitcoins traded in its first day of trading. And the pic of the dog? I mean, come on, the coin looked like something like shitcoin or junkcoin. Give me a break

It's dogecoin, and it was a joke based on the doge meme (particularly the latest implementation regarding shibe doges with comic sans text). billym2k (the dev, who happens to be an acquaintance of mine) is just as blown away by it's surge in popularity as the rest of us.

There's nothing political about it, it has nothing to do with "dogue", and it is indeed as you say; a junkcoin (just like pennies). Quite frankly, the people investing in that are no different in you lot, taking serious interest in some half-assed software made on a whim of a (likely drunk) developer.

Again thank you 1000x for fixing this Cat Man.

As far as value, I think what we could do to make CENT really "shine" is do something like make it the first altcoin to offer use at point of sale terminals. Heres the idea- offer a card, or maybe a RFID chip type, that cust could load his wallet onto, and they could swipe the card at a merchants point of sale terminal to complete transaction. Again, just an idea, but would really make CENT stand out from the rest.

As far as reducing the float, we are still working on that. We are trying to figure out how much to do this to while still being profitable for us.

Thanks The_Catman, you're awesome! I find it astonishing how you can keep clearly stating things on all of this and how people just aren't hearing it. I'll take a moment to recap, not that anyone would listen to me.

Crazy stake will be fixed as of Jan 8 to get inflation under control, update your version before Jan 1. Existing coins will not be affected. Coin was created purely for fun and was not intended to work as a real currency- if you want to make changes to that end you'll have to do them yourself.

Catman graciously saved this coin from sinking into oblivion. Please just be thankful and stop pressuring him with the same questions. -my 2 billion cents

Edit:
I cannot believe a person with a Cryptsy avatar does not understand how an exchange works.

Allow me to break it down into smaller chunks for easy digestion.

1. CENT wallet will not take transactions of 1 billion or more, PERIOD.
2 Cryptsy uses CENT wallets to store your funds that you buy/deposit.
3. If "1" is an absolute statement, how large of a sell or deposit do you think can be made at ANY time?
4. For people with calcified Pineal glands. (1 billion)

Umm you do realize that for the past few months we have been allowed to sell more than one billion, this is NEW since the market came back.
The billion deposit/withdrawal limit has been there since the start, that has not changed. I have moved 100s of billions through the exchange. So please kindly STFU.

Cryptsy stores your totals in the database not in the wallet.

How can you mine these? Is there any point with just a CPU?

I'm fairly new to all this, so please excuse my lack of knowledge :/

I found a link to minerd, and I've heard of cgminer

The_Catman, is it possible to add a transfer commission (for example 100Cents). And destroy it every time transfer?
Some fork with POS use that.

There's a "Command Line Banking" button in the GUI, it's fine to mine using the instructions it gives you.

I hear there's a pennies standalone miner out there but I never got it to work, scrypt-jane is hella weird.

here is what i suggest. We have a new update,

1) stake reduction to 0.01%
2) divide all balances by 1 billion, if your wallet <100 million then you'll have zero (lol)
3) Encourage mining by resetting n-factor to re-introde GPU mining
4) Ask cryptsy to destroy the obscene stake they have accumulated on our coins but have not allocated back to owners.
5) PUMP!!!!!!!!!!!
