1. Does everybody need to download it? I don't have a issue with the block chain.

2. How do you compile a source?

1. Yes, because you do have issues with the blockchin whether you realize it or not. 'Course , you could wait 'till i recompile with proper checkpoints and cleaner code and strip it properly if you prefer.

2. That's a bit more complicated than I can just "answer" here. Lotsa variables. Try googling, there's a few guides already, but you really kinda need to know whatyou're doing first.

I came back to computer and it restarted to sync, will update later if I see a green check mark.

Still working on the block chain. I tried several ways, addnode=node.cryptsy.com never received a connection, I only waited 45 minutes though.

For me helped when i deleted pennies.conf. Then when i restarted wallet it took a few minutes but it started dowloading chain. i use source compiled wallet and it says ver 0.10.1.0

You probably want to delete peers.dat and change your conf to only have a single addnode=node.cryptsy.com

Yeah, the compiled version, as I've already said, is not complete. This is my debugging testing build with all the important fixes and nothing else (such as the version numbering). Soon as I get some checkpoints squared away I'll release the pretty version.

Yeah, that's what happens when a PoS coin is forked to hell and back. Lots of orphans, loss of profits.
I might have to give up trying to get synced with cryptsy's chain and just set checkpoints for my own and let cryptsy deal with the aftermath of lost transactions.
They should have enough stake to cover their ass anyway.

Also keep in mind Jakal, that stake values are supposed to be decreasing, that was the whole point of the update.
