etblvu1 you are delusional. CAT isn't and will NEVER be like BTC or LTC. To even think it's possible is teetering on stupidity. Thank you, I take that as a compliment. I'd like to point out, that people who believed in Bitcoins early on, were criticized in the exact same way (substitute BTC for CAT, and USD for BTC and LTC), and these criticisms continue. So I would post something that would elicit this reaction, I consider a good sign.

Can you please clarify what is so special about bitcoin specs that you think CAT should keep the block times? People on this thread have some deluded emotional daydream about bitcoin. CAT is not BTC. BTC was the first of its kind and the only one to truely receive mainstream popularity. CAT has to compete with all the other altcoins and therefore needs to face the reality that people WILL move to the most profitable coin. Your idea does not solve anything. People will STILL move to the most valuable coin. In fact, what you are doing is further disincentivizing people from returning to CAT to mine.
CAT is BTC in scrypt. It serves the REAL WORLD pace of transactions and money valuation. ADHD altcoins can't do that. You are underestimating what's possible as far as getting miners into the currency. Scrypt cloud mining is about to become a reality. You're arguing that people don't want to drive snowshovel trucks and semis. People who want to make a living on the vast potential of the winter season or transporting goods DO IN FACT want to drive snow trucks and semis.

Right now we're trying to analyse something that by merely analysing we may in fact be altering. If you ask me, most of the loud folks who rushed the forking and most of those who had <=0.006 buy orders on exchanges are the same people.

Best just to see how things go for a few days. Everything panicking left right and centre and it's a total FUD storm in here. Few days. Let things calm down, and then we react. Not when we may very well be messing up the results we're trying to make decisions on.

These forums remind me of IHUB for the people who trade stocks. As in, there is a bunch of bullshit floating around here to trick people into buying and selling, along with wolves in sheep outfits. Everyone on here has a motive, no one gives a shit about morality, and no one gives a shit about cat coin. Everyone is in it for money. And right now, CAT coin is a guaranteed way to lose money in every way possible. Mine = lose money. Buy coins = lose money. Hold coins = lose money. There is absolutely zero reason to be involved in CRAP coin at the moment. Nearly every other altcoin is a better value. CAT is mimicking DMD (another altcoin with ridiculous specs) and look at the market cap on both. Even junk coin is doing far FAR better than Cat coin. What a huge slap to the face LMAO. R.I.P. Meow.
Send all your CAT coins here then: 9WuBwDRWVBDjBMfziEhedj61YMjKAx3tGe

There is absolutely zero reason to be involved in CRAP coin at the moment. By posting in this thread, you are choosing to involved in this coin at the moment. What is your excuse? The rest of us here who believe in the future of the coin can cost-justify time investment here. You on the other hand, by your own statement, seem to have no excuse...unless you are one of the "wolves" you talk about.

As I said, and I'll say it once more to be clear; if the market rate drops, FUD, market manipulation and BS aside, then the coin is probably going to get forked and all the problems the coin has will be resolved. If the coin bounces back on its own, then there will be no need to, but either way this coin is here to stay, no matter how much people want to bad mouth it.
G'night all.

My CatCoin wallet is in my address, if you think they're worthless then by all means send them my way. You don't see me posting in any other forum thread as much as this one in the entire forum, and I mine a lot of different coins. Enough said.

The "Bitcoin clone" status is unimportant. There is a reason why 10-minute block times and 2016-block difficulty retargets have not been used. They don't work.
This worked a couple years ago when there wasn't as many people mining, but the mining scene has changed. There is 2,000x as much (maybe more) worldwide hashpower available now as there was a year ago and miners are fickle. Network hashrates increasing/decreasing by 100x over the course of hours is totally normal, and a week-long (or longer) difficulty retarget simply doesn't work anymore.
Fork or die.

I bet you have no market experience whatsoever nor understand the basis of value behind crypto. It's clear that it's pointless discussing logic with you. When the community comes to their senses and forks this coin feel free to keep all your money in the old version. You can sink along with your obsession with the BTC specs.

this is all good and great people are buying and selling and the price is going up but the reality of it all is purely hashpower. its not coming back. at the current rate no one can afford to stay the distance to the next recal. without more hash or a fork, the hash probably wont come without the fork, we are just a top wobbling back and forth until it finally stops. I have 2 280x asus cards that is all. 1.4m total I will point 1 of my cards to a cat pool so I know I helped with I could but if I don't see more hash follow within a couple of days, that is all I can afford to spare without a lot more backup.

5) Block reward = keep the same at 50, but with just one minor modification*
* You solve a block. If the current difficulty level is significantly easier than the last difficulty level, your block reward will depend on the results of performing a simple loyalty check. If you can point to a block you solved during the last difficulty era which you did not point to before (i.e., comes from the same address), you get the full 50 coins. Otherwise, you get half (25 coins). The balance of coins are carried over to the next block reward or destroyed.
Blocks are technically solved by the pools, rather than the individual miners using them, so this does nothing.
