It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

Using android app: creating a custom transaction and clicking send does nothing?  Button clicks, but no transaction is created.

Having some weird issues with using Blockchain.info. I'm running Windows 7 on a laptop using the latest Chrome browser. It seems whenever I keep blockchain.info open more than 5 minutes or so, my whole computer freezes. I've tried it with just blockchain.info being open. It doesn't seem to happen when I access it through Firefox. Not sure what's going on to cause it, but it's happened 3 times now in about 30 minutes. Soooo weird.

feature request: please add api endpoints for custom send (so we can avoid paying miner fee) and private key import/sweep.

thanks

After some hassle switching to a new phone and finding logging in with Google Authenticator on the old phone didn't seem to work (?), I've imported a backup and set up a new wallet. A couple of oddities though:

1. Verifying an email address seems a bit iffy. Took me about 5 goes to get it to work (Tried typing the code in, copying it in, and clicking the link in the mail.) May have been resolved when I updated my email address - is it possible to have the same email address for 2 different wallets?

2. Can't see a link to create an easy-to-remember identifier for a wallet any more - has this been removed, or am I just blind?

Cheers,
Scribe

Can someone tell me when the hash rate chart figures are set each day?

During the day they change constantly & I'm wondering if there is a set time of day the value for that day is set?

Who records it (I assume automatically). Are there different keepers of these statistics (multiple site each recording there own) or one official record?

The hashrate (it's an estimation) can be calculated directly from the blockchain using difficulty and time of blocks (basically it's "work" divided by "time"). Note that the estimation is (by design) highly error-prone. You can't get an exact value for a point in time (not from the blockchain at least), but only an estimation over a period of time.

Look for example at http://bitcoin.sipa.be where you can see 3 differnt periods being used in each graph.

For example the green line in this graph from the linked page is average over an 8-hour period. If it was correct data, it would mean the hashrate fluctuates up to 100 TH/s throughout one day. (~30%). That's most likely not the case, it's mainly bad/good luck of the miners (poisson-distribution).

The site is still using MtGox for its exchange rates; pretty much nobody else is doing that at this point as MtGox rates are consistently above everyone else due to withdrawal issues. I'd recommend using https://bitpay.com/bitcoin-exchange-rates instead, as BitPay does an average of several major exchanges.

Argumentum ad lunam: the fallacy that because Bitcoin's price is rising really fast the currency must be a speculative bubble and/or Ponzi scheme.

Chalk me up as another person who has had money stolen via the shared send feature. I lost 35BTC to shared send and it has been 3 days with no response from piuk or blockchain support...

This is not a case of a mistyped address or anything it has all been verified and half of my funds came through...Clearly there is something seriously wrong with the blockchain.info shared send/receive feature if 4 of us alone in this thread have had money stolen, one of them being over 200BTC.

Would be nice to get an answer.

Ok people, not sure if you get the point, but stop using the shared send feature. Something is obviously not working with it.

2weix's coins were lost because of an issue with the first version of the android app. He generated a new address and it didn't properly sync with the server. Unfortunately with the phone being rooted and accessing the local wallet stored on the app the coins are permanently lost. The the bug was fixed a while ago in the new version of the app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=piuk.blockchain.android).

As far as i'm aware there is no issue with shared send at the moment. I'm trying to resolving outstanding problems now. Please do not reuse shared send addresses they are removed after the first transaction so subsequent transactions may not be forwarded immediately.
