I am going to do some commonsensical deductive reasoning.  I may not know wth I am talking about, but indulge me for a sec:

A few days ago, that 194,993 BTC transaction worth $147m was processed.  At the time, I doubt any exchange had the cash on-hand to fill it.  So, BTC-e (?) hoarded cash inflows, filled the sell order, and now they are liquidating those BTC to repay whatever bridge loan they may have also required and to fund the back-log of deposits.

If I am correct (or close), then BTC should take a rather dramatic dip over the coming days.

So, I'm speculating Bitstamp did not have the cash and so reached out to other exchanges for an assist.  I doubt a real bank would take BTC as collateral for a bridge loan that size.  Of course, the article posits that the transaction was just a consolidation.  That doesn't make sense, though.  The tag associated with it was "Shitload of money!".  I doubt any exchange would include something like that.  Sounds like someone cashed out and now all deposits and withdrawals are jammed up until those BTC are liquidated.

Perhaps it is a good thing for those wanting to buy.  Price should decline significantly.

I got this today too. They give you an hour to respond and then close. This is AFTER completely ignoring all the issues on the ticket. Been waiting for weeks to withdraw funds after I sent a wire. They are terrible and worse, it feels like their customer service is playing some sick game. I feel bad for anyone else who's wired them a large amount of USD. [HINT: WITHDRAW ALL YOUR COINS IF YOU HAVE ANY. BEFORE THE WIRE IS APPLIED TO YOUR ACCOUNT] The hold will tie up ALL your funds for at least a month and forget what they say about submitting ID and Utility. They will not release.

The latest posts in this thread are really disturbing,  :oI am glad I never tried to wire, use okpay or whatever, or use a sepa transfer to send them fiat.

they announced they were removing FTC and cause alot of people to panic dump, it lost over half its value, then they announced they had made a mistake and were not removing it after all.   

If your looking for an exchange that has FIAT pairs, try CryptoTrade (link is in my signature), its still low volume but quickly becoming a popular and trusted alternative to the less professional behaving exchanges.  You can also invest in companies there using BTC or LTC, and the most recent addition is a major Chilean Organic farming corporation (http://www.galtsgulchchile.com/), its one of the largest real world securities that I've ever seen listed on ANY Crypto stock exchange and speaks volumes about the trust they must have in the platform there.
