Hi, all. New guy here to DRK.

I am curious as to what settings I should use with my i7 CPU miner?

Thank you much,
Griff

better to mine with a gpu, especially 750ti, cheap vga that does 2.2MH/s

Yeah I am mining on my HD 5850 and 2 R7 265s I figured every bit of hash helps Smiley My main rig is watercooled with the i7 so my CPU temps are kept nice ad cool

Once a transaction has 6 confirmations, it is extremely unlikely that an attacker without at least 50% of the network's computation power would be able to reverse it.

Hi, all. New guy here to DRK.

I am curious as to what settings I should use with my i7 CPU miner?

Thank you much,
Griff

for the CPU i use minerd (on the darkcoinwebsite) without any additional arguments.
there is some room for improvement, but i need to be able to work on the computer at the same time.

How many threads does default use? Doe sit use all of them?

I dont know if it allways uses all of them.
But i tested it on a i7 and a i5, and it used all of them.

if you are able and want to go serious you should think about using your GPU,
if not (like in my case [not able - I need a special GPU-setup to keep my realtime-rendering thingy going])
CPU is still pretty, and easy to set up.

Seriously guys, no point getting into conversation with this type of people. This questions/matter was discussed many times on this forum. If they had tiny bit of brain and not be here just to start a flame war for no reason they would find it.

+1

Answer their question once with facts and logical counterpoint.  If the response to that is more copypasta of their version of the "facts"... then make use of the ignore button.

I want to see what they're up to.

How do you get an Nvidia card mining DRK? I have 2 R7 265s and they only get about 1.1 Mh/s per card. Heck if I can get Nviia cards workign I have a water cooled 780Ti as my main and that should give me some decent hash rate then

blockchain obfuscation illegal.

I think Darkcoin is great for anonymity stuff, but wider acceptance by public and businesses will never happen unfortunately.
We already have a wine shop accepting it. With proper marketing and brand positioning, mass adoption ala Bitcoin is not an insurmountable obstacle.
There has already been something said about this by the US Government. They understand the need for financial privacy. The interaction with crypto and fiat is going to be regulated. that is the point where they care and will ask for ID from those using exchanges.

Can enyone clear the water around ring signatures and darksend/masternodes  ? Are we getting rid of masternodes ? What is the feature of darkcoin ? "Big Things comming" it's not a clear schedule .

eduffield posted earlier today, Masternodes and Darksend are sticking around, he will not be implementing ring signatures.

Holy crap, over .019!  We will hit .02 soon!  Massive 100+BTC sellwalls on Mintpal just keep evaporating!  162 BTC to hit .02.  I'm betting it won't actually be that much, the sellwall will disappear just as it did at .0185, etc.  With such a huge jump, I think we will have to backfill.  I am tempted to sell and re-buy later.  Still, I have never been able to time trades like this very well, and I've screwed myself on more than one occasion.  I'm hodling, despite the temptation!

Off the topic of DRK price: I am thinking of trying to facilitate a collaborative Masternode by using Counterparty (XCP).  Basically the idea would be to sell shares in a Masternode. Create an XCP asset with 10,000 shares.  Call it DRKMN.  (But we can't call them shares for legal reasons; we'll just say that each DRKMN represents 0.1 DRK in a Masternode.)  People contribute their DRK to the pool and receive the corresponding DRKMN assets in return.  The person running the pool (maybe me, maybe somebody else) sets up the Masternode on a server somewhere and pays dividends through XCP on a regular basis from the node's earnings.  The dividends would have to be in BTC due to the way that Counterparty operates, so the operator would need to cover costs, convert to BTC and distribute the profits through Counterwallet.

The really cool thing about this is that once the 1000 DRK are in the Masternode pool, they can be traded for BTC in a decentralized manner (NOT through an exchange) so if, say, you contributed 100 DRK to the pool then you would later be able to sell 50 DRK worth and retain your ownership of the other 50 DRK worth.  So it is a way of making Masternode-locked DRKs liquid!

The problem is one of trust.  The node operator/trustee would obviously need to be a trusted figure who will not run away with everybody's DRK.  I'm just an anonymous dude that nobody has any reason to trust, but if somebody with stature in the community wants to help set this up, I will do whatever I can to help.  I do have a Linux server admin background... maybe a little rusty in some areas (no longer in the business), but I'm not scared of spending several hours in the commandline getting things fixed up.  I would also be willing to contribute 100 DRK to the pool, which unfortunately is the majority of my DRK holdings.

Eventually I could see there being many DRKMN-style assets in Counterparty and possibly other Bitcoin-2.0 coins such as BitShares, Mastercoin, etc.  The benefit of being able to liquidate holdings in a Masternode without taking down the node is quite clear.

....and in the time it took me to write this, we're back below .019.  The buy side needs to shore itself up bigtime.  Almost 200BTC to hit .02 now.  ...and a good chunk of that just disappeared, now 113BTC.

This is a really great idea, but we really need to brainstorm it to come up with a way to secure it against the operator taking off with funds.... I just don't see it working well otherwise.  I mean, with pooling, you are only risking the work your machine has been doing for X hours, and you see immediately if you're not getting expected returns.  Not your life's savings, you know?   I'm sure there is a way though, your ideas are excellent otherwise!

Here http://www.devtome.com/doku.php?id=a_massive_investigation_of_instamines_and_fastmines_for_the_top_alt_coins& you can read:
"3250 blocks multiplied by 500 coins a block is 1,625,000 Darkcoins created between the times of 3:54 and 11:22 on January 19th, 2014". And today is only 4,315,600 DRK available supply.
And you are asking WHY ARE WE SELLING? It's kind of private money of fews who now manipulate the market. And you are asking why Litecoin is better than this?

I understand that success draws hate, but please, check the facts before spreading FUD.

http://wiki.darkcoin.eu/wiki/FAQ#Was_Darkcoin_Instamined.3F

https://darkcointalk.org/threads/the-birth-of-darkcoin.162/

Coin is in steady development for over 5 months.

Also, check the price charts, the coin is very well distributed, and resistance to dumps after pumps is the best example. There is no conspiracy theory here.

Last but not least last time I checked, the price is on the steady rise, and the only thing keeping it < 0.02 is the wall, which will go down soon.
A lot people is waiting for their FIAT transfers into BTC (I know few personally).

Yes, you are right but I'm not talking about steady development, about price charts. A want to say only one thing - the rest is as you wrote.

Here http://www.devtome.com/doku.php?id=a_massive_investigation_of_instamines_and_fastmines_for_the_top_alt_coins& you can read:

Cant you just go find a bridge and jump off of it? So you can leave us alone? Why would you even bother. IF you think that then what are you doing here? Then you should say to yourself. '' Oh I have to stay away from that coin''.

But instead you are just a bored fat fucker who comes here in his boredom spreading stupid dumb shitty fud to feel better. Dude get lost please. This has been discussed MANNY times. Go back to your Asiacoin loses

Darkcoin essentially makes the AML kyc compliance obsolete, because once "Darksend is used the money trail is gone". So I can open acc with legit docs, transfer fiat and then purchase any crypto and then buy Darkcoin and use Darksend and the money trail is broken. You think any government is gonna say, OK we will allow that??

The swiss banks were doing all kinds of elaborate tricks to launder/hide money, you think now that anyone with the push of a few clicks can make large amount of cash untraceable will be allowed to flourish???

Any exchange, any individual, any entity that is facilitating these types of transactions will be deemed a terrorist organization or enemy of the state. Anyone who is under the delusion that Darkcoin in it's current state will be allowed to flourish is delusional.

Once the governments get involved things will change very quickly. Right now people are having all kinds of pie in the sky ideas about Darkcoin because there is a lot of euphoria around the price rising and all that, but I think the governments will move quickly and make any kind of blockchain obfuscation illegal. It is only a matter of time. Either that or anyone running a masternode or participating in any anon crypto will be branded an enemy of the state. I really hope I am wrong, but I have a nagging feeling that is the way things are going to turn out.

I think Darkcoin is great for anonymity stuff, but wider acceptance by public and businesses will never happen unfortunately.

That's possibly true, but ridiculously unenforceable.

People said the same about the internet itself. The level of decentralisation is such that laws are meaningless. Centralised authorities can only deal with decentralised threats.

Stopping crypto by means other than simply regulating fiat gateways would be like trying to shovel smoke with a pitchfork in the wind (in the words of a famous Beatle).

I accept your argument, the problem they and you face with this argument though is, I don't see how they stop it... I really can't see feds turning up at your house for running a masternode... In which case, just run it in the cloud in another jurisdiction. The law and crypto are miles apart at the moment, its very much a chicken and egg situation and nowhere near as black and white as you make out.

I'm sure that the government would allow anonymous coins are they are, once Darkcoin gets more and more popular etc, they may enforce Exchanges to keep tabs of transfers going in and out, to prevent money laundering, but concerning the darkcoin crypto itself, everything will be ok, as it's not controlled by anyone, just like bitcoin.

To all the people selling Drk.  I realise the temptation to sell is great, especially if you bought at $1 or less.

However, before you commit that grievous sin and damage your future wealth, please do these logical checks:

1. Is darkcoin better than litecoin?

2. Is darkcoin current price less than litecoin?

If you answered yes to the above questions: WHY ARE U SELLING?!!!

Because Darkcoin is currently under threat by Monero and Quazar coin. Once these coins get their proper wallet, things should take off for them as well.

LOL dream on silly person!   Grin Cheesy Grin Cheesy

I mean, I consider myself low key, but you come in here every 30 minutes with your advertisement for that coin, and seem blissfully unaware (or don't care) about the substantial shortcomings of your coin.  A developer who doesn't know what s/he's doing, no gui, blockchain bloat, etc....  Give it up and come to the darkside silly person!
