That's a shitload of coins.  It does seem plausible to me.

It's just a regular mining supply. How is it any different from any other coin's mining supply ?

Doesn't matter if a bot mines it or a human. The supply's the same and they all get continuously dumped on markets.

Also there's only about 1150 Dash mined each day if I'm correct. Which is only like 12 BTC.
Could this be actual liquidity? a lot of people buying and selling?  Or are you sure it's one entity.  Is the price all set to a single amount or something?  We do need liquidity, it helps keep the price stable.  When there is real upward pressure, or price stability (which is what we've been seeing) I think it shows way healthier if there is good liquidity than if not.

I was talking about 20-50 BTC volume bars which correspond to big red candles and appear several times a day. I'm not sure it's the same person but it looks like one to me. Maybe someone is preparing for the next BTC upwards movement, like the last time. Just my speculation ofc.
Hum, you might be right.  Masternode numbers just dropped to the tune of 50,000 Dash.  Someone likes to play with their coins, then comes back (possibly after having lost because MN numbers never went above 3500 again that I recall Wink  I don't play with my coins as I don't have ANY to lose, LOL Smiley

I just wrote him a PM telling him he might consider forking some of Dash, like the incentivized payment structure for nodes and the fast processing of many transactions you get from the future quorum system.  I then suggested he contact the Dash development team, as he may like working with them Smiley

Yah and we're down to 3420 at the moment (a few came back online)  So it looks like someone is having trouble with their nodes, which is very likely as we had a block that caused a lot of people to fall offline, including myself, and I still don't know what it was, or people are cashing out their nodes?

I had a heck of a time restarting my nodes, one I only got started again last night.  I think it needed time off the network to clear something up (maybe was being rejected?)  But definitely confirmed that block 415399 was a "bad block" Smiley

Announcing the open sourcing of the Miami soda machine tech demo software!
https://github.com/moocowmoo/dashvend

This repo contains everything needed to recreate the Miami "dash'n'drink" soda machine InstantX tech demo.

I'll be updating this repo occasionally as dash InstantX rpc support evolves.

# overview

Dashvend is a network-driven python script which:
 - generates payment addresses
 - masquerades as a local dashd peer (port 9999 communication)
 - watches for transactions on the dash network to the next payment address
 - refunds non-InstantX transactions and over/underpaid InstantX transactions
 - counts masternode locks for passing transactions
 - triggers two relays (sign light, product release) when the lock count meets a configurable threshold

# component overview

## dashvend

Code:
     bin/dashvend.py          - top-level script
    bin/dashvend/config.py   - system configuration variables
    bin/dashvend/dash_ix.py  - InstantX processing
bin/dashvend/dash_p2p.py - dash node peer connection
    bin/dashvend/dash.py     - python-bitcoinlib compatibility monkey-patch
bin/dashvend/dashrpc.py  - dashd rpc communication (refunds, balances)
bin/dashvend/display.py  - display controller (setuid bash wrapper)
bin/dashvend/trigger.py  - relay controller (setuid bash wrapper)
    bin/dashvend/vend.py     - main application

## helpers

Code:
     bin/_install_dashd.sh         - fresh install - Makefile utility
    /etc/init.d/dashvend          - starts dashd/dashvend on boot/shutdown
bin/_dashvend_control.sh      - called by above, starts/stops screen processes
bin/dashvend_screens.screenrc - gnu screen config file for above
bin/trigger_relay             - setuid script, calls .sh file below
bin/trigger_relay.sh          - run as root, triggers gpio pins
display/show_image            - setuid script, calls .sh file below
display/show_image.sh         - run as root, invokes fbi to display image
display/show_screen_number.sh - screen image builder, uses imagemagic
display/source_images/        - source images for above

There are a lot of moving parts, so take the time to read the entire README.md if you feel like trying this out.

If you plan on developing for a real-world point of sale system, use faster hardware.
The rpi2 is just too slow (startup time in particular) for anything more than a demo.

Mine both went offline at once a day or two ago without warning. (Got a message from Dashwhale that they had an error).

Haven't got them back up yet.

I think a lot of the variation in the MN count is due to nodes getting kicked off the network. I've had terrible problems over the last couple of weeks and it was only by recreating the VINs and privkeys for each masternode that I have now got some stability back. So far all have been stable for 5 days now. I'm sure I'm not the only one that's experienced this problem so I'd expect a bit of lag as MN owners a) discover their MNs are down, and b) fix the problem.

InstantX transactions don't show up yet.  I just sent myself some to test.
It shouldn't be difficult to patch insite to forward IX transactions as well as TX's.

Or someone (s) selling DASH to buy Ethereum. MN could easily "make" it's yearly income in a day there.

Slight watershed moment. The landscape of crypto top marketcaps has changed.

Ethereum has blown both Litecoin and Ripple away and possibly established itself as the permanent number 2. That might be what's re-ignited the pump.

This is so cool, thanks moocowmoo!  I'm surprised that the rpi2 is too slow!  I would think it would require a lot of stress testing to see if it at least has stability (in which case the slow startup times wouldn't be too bad).  Interesting to know!

People willing to use that trading technique probably have to pay a fee for it, same idea as hedge funds.
