Are any coins lost in the forking?

Well, unfortunately, some of the pools didn't update in time, so they were mining on the wrong blockchain.  Those coins were "lost" or invalid.

Not true.

I've updated my pool backend daemon in time and confirmed I'm on the correct chain but the p2pool network forked somehow on a later point and my miners lost some 100's of DRK for mining almost a whole day on a wrong block chain. It was not connected to the client update and desired hard fork. After some digging I got told to update the p2pool software too (btw why?) but this finally broke everything, the used "xcoin-hash" python-plugin (btw why new?) wasnt working on debian 7 at all. I've never seen so much going wrong. I'm on holidays right now and from remote I am forced to shut down my pool node until I can look into the issues mentioned above.

I really see future in this coin, I hope this wont happen again and the devs wont rush new updates.

I'm sorry for the miners on my node not noticing they are on the wrong chain.

Your darkcoind updated, but peered p2pool's not.
So I have to fork p2pool's share chain, change IDENTIFIER, PREFIX of p2pool/networks.py.

darckcoin-hash-python is fork of evan's xcoin-hash(i modified)
So you can still use darckcoin-hash-python.

I have decided to remove darckcoin-hash-python, cause it's not my work.

All you have to do is, change IDENTIFIER, PREFIX of p2pool/networks.py, delete data/darkcoin/share*, start p2pools.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=421615.msg5719494#msg5719494

One more, miners connected to your pool, they mined correct chain.
Your pool just received block nofification from other pools which mined wrong chain.
2 ~ 3 blocks found by old p2pool network probably by your pool.

forked p2pool first block is 34338

following  from old p2pool network.

Way to give me an existential crisis. I'm pretty sure I'm not a robot but I can't say for 100% certain. Would I know if I was a robot? Maybe I'm just programmed to think I'm human.

Ok. I replied to your PM. Smiley

Are there any bounties for light or Android wallets? I developed one of the Doge lightwallets and would love to contribute to the DRK community

That would be great.  Please contact LimLims, he has all the bounties Smiley

Thanks Evan

Done! That's a good idea, I have it in two stages:

- Make a lite android wallet
- Darksend compatible android wallet

Hello everyone,

To Evan:

On April 9th there's a cryptocurrency convention in New York with a lot of coin developers speaking. If you would like more awareness for darkcoin you should consider speaking at this event as well. I came across this information about the convention on the timekoin forum where I'm active also. The site is: http://cryptocurrencyconvention.com/

This is my first post here and will be somewhat active on this site also Smiley.

I offer a 30 darkcoin Bounty to someone abble to fix my problem with my R9 290.

Summary: my cards started at 2.4MH/S and after 10 minutes they loose 10% and are stable at 2.1MH/S

This happened on all my cards, on all motherboards, under BAMT.

I noticed all the cards have the drop on the exact same second (on one motherboard of course).

I have 2 other cards on windows 8.1 that are stable at 2.5MH and from time to tim (this morning) I have the same drop (watercooling cards)

When the drop happened, the only way to recover the lost hash is to shutdown the machine (a mine restart did not do the job: I don't have higher hashrate)

If I put another card on the same rig, after 10 min, all the 290 will have a drop, and the other card (7950/270/7970) will not have any loss.

If I use thoses cards to mine Scrypt coins, no drop.

What is your config file and your bat file settings? I will try to replicate on a rig with 3 r9 290s.

Here is the .conf:

,
"intensity" : "21",
"kernel" : "darkcoin",
"gpu-fan" : "60",
"no-submit-stale" : true,
"failover-only" : true,
"log" : "5",
"queue" : "0",
"kernel-path" : "/usr/local/bin"

Can't do much clean. I just delete my OC settings and do a test few minutes ago with this.
Start at 2.2, 10 min later, it drops in the exact same second to 2.0 (all 3 cards 290), the 270 remain steady.

Temp are stable under 60°

Thanks, I'll try that tonight, but I don't think it could be the heart of the problem since I got it with my cards on aircooling too on the other rigg.
The watercooling rigg seems resistant to this problem...until this morning (1 week without problem, except one time), tody even a reboot won't fix it, may be something else).

What the heck is going on with the price of DRK?

one point is distributing the hash-power of the miner
1. drk.coinmine.pl with 4 Gh/s -> 40 %
2. dark.suchpool.pw with 2.8 Gh/s -> 30 %
3. drkpool.com with 0.6 Gh/s -> 6 %
4. lotterymining.com with 0.6 Gh/s -> 6 %
5. p2p-pool with 0.25 Gh/s -> 2.5 %

it would be optimal to have 4 big pools with 20 % (now 2 Gh/s) - when 1 of the 4 pools is down then the other 3 have each 30  %
when you are an investor in this DRK and you realize that the network is not safe - you will not invest in it!

please distribute your hashrate wisely!

any updates on this?

P2Pool must become bigger.

Centralized systems are always a risk !

Get a look at http://darkcoin.mine.nu

24/7 Miners should really consider P2Pool and mine on the closer node to them.

They can add several backup nodes and wherever they mine on the P2Pool Network they will keep on earning the same DRK amount.

I recognized that new miners find the P2P reward system confusing or dont pay attention at all. I have seen a few miners quit within the first 24 hours saying they dont earn as much as on regular pools what as we know is not correct.

out of several rigs all using the same set-up and configs, this rig is the only one playing up. I'm wonder if I should try a pool server closer to the UK:

Like I said, every now and then there is a bunch of rejects that lead to this rig being banned from drkpool.

I'll fix that, it's a bit sensitive. We had people running scrypt and it was recording all of their shares for 10 minutes before banning them, so I patched the code to be much more quick about it, maybe I overdid it. Thanks

I was going to play around with settings today, but before I started the rejects look much, much better today. Most are at ~0%, some at ~3%. Not sure why yet.
