Just a reminder : If DRK is severely going down is only because of YOU, especially actual and potential MN owners.
Yes, you read well.

87% of the coins belongs to adresses with more than 1,000 DRK.

I can't read the people finding excuses like "no fresh money", "no whale", "dumb crypto-community"

Look at the past sell orders : it was multiple of 1000 !

If you want a 100-300 M$, just stop selling during 1 month. It is not the rare sells with 50 Drk that will lead the price down...

The competitors are far behind. Ltc, Doge or even Nxt are in trouble ! What are you waiting for ?

People need and search for "same thing like BTC but private". Fundamentals are here. We do not need geekeries, we need to figure out how many rounds we should use (catastrophic option leading to uncertainty and doubt : "Did I well or enough rounds", "Is my coins anonymyzed ?")

Pool Police ?! What we really need is a TOP 100 Police or dark soldiers who list who amongst rich list is selling or trying to day-trade !!

Just try not to sell during on month and look how magically the price will soar !

all good coins have now PoS and have use no miners to make new coins.

stake system seem more sustainable in years to come. so why is better to pay to mine coins and use power?

Take a read of this:

https://bitcoin.org/bitcoin.pdf

You will see that proof of work means that people paying electricity to carry out work are what secures the network. Proof of Stake means nothing.

I agree it some security but there no true network security.

bitcoin even can get 51% attack.

It seems to me coins that stake and use no power can survive in future without spending power.

Proof of work was partly invented to stop email spam.

If you use PoS, you create spam. A few people able to create many staking wallets. That is partly why PoS = proof of shit (jack shit, i.e. nothing).

I get this from bitcoin wiki, they say pos is higher security than pow.

https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Proof_of_Stake

Quote
Some argue that methods based on Proof of Work alone might lead to a low network security in a cryptocurrency with block incentives that decline over time (like bitcoin) due to Tragedy of the Commons, and Proof of Stake is one way of changing the miner's incentives in favor of higher network security.

Motivation For Proof of Stake
A proof-of-stake system might provide increased protection from a malicious attack on the network. Additional protection comes from two sources:
1) Executing an attack would be much more expensive. 2) Reduced incentives for attack. The attacker would need to own a near majority of all bitcoin. Therefore, the attacker suffer severely from his own attack.

When block rewards are produced through txn fees, a proof of stake system would result in lower equilibrium txn fees. Lower long-run fees would increase the competitiveness of bitcoin relative to alternative payments systems. Intuitively reduced fees are due to vast reductions in the scale of wastage of resources.

Everybody needs to calm down for a bit, individual opinions are just that, and we are free to debate but they do not represent the opinion of the majority or of Darkcoin. Everybody is valuable and of course the coin needs its miners and they are rewarded for their efforts, so could we please move on.  Every time we have price swings, detractors of the coin come here to try to exacerbate any issue and make it seem like a crisis.  This is an RC and a few tweaks are expected the important thing is we are already on mainnet and we are not going back Evan will fix any minor issues we have and we continue forward. There are 3 types of sellers right now: the ones that honestly want out and that is their prerogative and we respect their decision, the ones that are trying to sell to buy lower ( this is the majority in my opinion) well good luck to you guys it is really a lottery and the ones that are panic selling, don’t panic sell that is one of the worst things you can do, actually the panic sellers feed the rest, you haven’t lost anything until you sell.   If you believe in anonymous crypto currencies then hold, Darkcoin is facing growing pains that all projects would eventually face  if they were real but none of the others are there yet. So do not panic sell Darkcoin is here to stay, this launch ensures the continuity of the project, a failed launch would have been catastrophical, this was a successful launch, no forks, no reverting, we go forward.  Evan fixes the kinks, Kristov finishes his review, we go to RC5. Other projects are a time bomb just like us they will eventually have to face reality you cant put off the launch forever we are here and we survived, now we can continue and when you see the Darkcoin blockchain turn into a fog in the next couple of weeks confidence will grow.

The frog runs a p2pool node I believe so go easy on him/be nice to him. He's updated which means rc4 masternodes get paid.
It's a two way street and as miner (I am) don't hate masternode operators because of the trolls. Likewise masternode oeprators shouldn't fall for similar trolling towards miners.

The masternodes give dark it's value, the miners keep it secure. And X11 in itself has probably been one of the greatest recruiters to this coin.

The fudders just try and divide us.

I try to mine darkcoin and lose money  Huh

Why have to mine anyway?

OMG.... why do you mine if you lose money? Use a bloody calculator if you can not compute the pluses and minuses yourself!

Of course the miners are important but the coin would work exactly as well with much lower number of miners so do us a favour and stop moaning. Mine whatever pays you best!

If anyone is having problems with a really sluggish wallet UI, I found my solution - I was testing with a wallet.dat that was >24MB in size due to thousands of micropayments mining on p2pool. So I used darkcoind (GUI was too unresponsive to trust) to send the balance to a fresh wallet and suddenly it's perfect.

Denominating, DS+ing, amazing.

In fact it loves DS+ing so much it just keeps on doing it past the 2 rounds I have set, but there'll be a fix for that soon.  Grin

Bloody amazing work Evan and team, true trustless anonymous ecash has arrived.  Smiley

tbh very few miners are moaning about drk. The gpu mining community is grateful to evan. X11 gave gpu miners an opportunity to use hardware that was almost useless for mining as asics were taking over 256 and scrypt based coins. Not only was it more energy effecient but it allowed miners to mine in hotter climates or in my case a room that has no windows.

Heres another thing that i like about drk, quantum cpu proof!

How mucth you transfert and what is the cost in fees ?

In my case its alot of "dust transacation" from p2pool and the fees are superior to the total of DRK

Looks like Evan at this time just focus on big wallet and dont care about small one.

There is certainly a reason, but i dont understand it yet.

but its just RC4

I had/have been consolidating it in-wallet as I went along, so it only cost me 0.002 in fees to send it to a new wallet, but the old wallet file was still huge despite my ongoing consolidation.

exactly... again... we are all veterans here,  we should start taking the high road.  This same dialog is going on in every single alt coin.  each has their own issues and their own fuddsters and trolls. its becoming so tiresome, boring and tedious.   lets make a concerted effort to rise above and set an example.   Lets please come up with a unified voice and message.

Ok... first report back on v.10.12.30 on OSX... yes it does seem to hoggle down the system as its about to created a denon tx, spinning beachball and all... but then jumps back into business ... I'm sure its another little stupid bug somewhere.

What really rocks is that my entire wallet is almost fully denomed in just a few hours, and my 35 mainnet real DRK to be anonymized by 4x rounds are spinning round the masternodes as we speak! Purring like a kitten!

PSA:

I just received an official-ish looking email from "server@darkcointalk"

Quote
Hello eltito,

We're happy to announce that RC4 v2 Windows Release is now available for download.

This mandatory update includes a complete rewrite of the Darksend protocol, which vastly improves transaction privacy and removes the 10 DRK limit for Darksend transactions.

10.12.31 (RC) Binaries: Includes Darksend - Masternode Operators

Windows .exe:

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/............zip

A huge thanks goes out to all of the users that helped us perfect this release on testnet. There were countless users who sent wallets and debug logs which helped the debug process tremendously. We couldn’t have done it without all of you.

Thanks,

The Darkcoin Team

SHOULD YOU RECEIVE A SIMILAR EMAIL, DO NOT DOWNLOAD THE LINKED FILE!!  We believe this person is either phishing or trying to push out a virus.

The latest version of the Darkcoin software is 9.12.30 (stable) or 10.12.30 (RC).

I am in contact with Evan and Propulsion (darkcointalk administrator) and we are looking into it.
