PSA:

I just received an official-ish looking email from "server@darkcointalk"

Quote
Hello eltito,

We're happy to announce that RC4 v2 Windows Release is now available for download.

This mandatory update includes a complete rewrite of the Darksend protocol, which vastly improves transaction privacy and removes the 10 DRK limit for Darksend transactions.

10.12.31 (RC) Binaries: Includes Darksend - Masternode Operators

Windows .exe:

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/n154riq5vhwny3v/darkcoin-0.10.12.31-win.zip

A huge thanks goes out to all of the users that helped us perfect this release on testnet. There were countless users who sent wallets and debug logs which helped the debug process tremendously. We couldn’t have done it without all of you.

Thanks,

The Darkcoin Team

SHOULD YOU RECEIVE A SIMILAR EMAIL, DO NOT DOWNLOAD IT!!  We believe this person is either phishing or trying to push out a virus.

The latest version of the Darkcoin software is 9.12.30 (stable) or 10.12.30 (RC).

I am in contact with Evan and Propulsion (darkcointalk administrator) and we are looking into it.

Holy CRAP !!

When something like this happens, you know there in an organized bunch of people with real bad intention... meaning DRK is proving to be a threat... meaning yet another valid bullet point - intrinsic value like no other crypto out there!

Don't think it's an organized threat meant to take down Darkcoin, just someone looking to make a quick buck (or DRK in this case).

Elito, can you truncate that link? Even though it's pretty obvious that it leads to a scam, we wouldn't want anyone to inadvertently click it.

Dont want to be a piss ass... but as a community this is crucial. We need network consensus for this to work. SO please do you part and participating in contacting your pool, reporting back, and in the meantime move your miners to know RC4 compliant pools!

Yeah I got the email, the Windows only nature of it alone gave it away, Evan's a linux guy...

Worrying that someone got our email addresses from darkcointalk (I presume?) though. Security review in order...

Darkcoin hodl 4 life! I lost $700,000 worth in DRK compared to the highest price point, but Im not in it for the money, Im in it for the fundamentals. One day we will be bigger than bitcoin.
60k DRKs, eh? That's an impressive stack. I'm with you. I hodl no matter what. Fundamentals are intact.

I'm not so sure, the original email to me didn't use my darkcointalk username in the salutation (I changed it to post on here, don't necessarily want to two to be linked.  too late now maybe, heh).  It used another username I commonly employ.

It would be good to get a report from the team yes. Like a detailed report of how RC4 went, what the feelings are of the team regarding the remaining small issues and the overall quality of the current product,  and what the next steps are, etc.

PS latest build works great for me

EDIT: oh i see now that they actually released an official statement today. Never mind.

It still isn't being picked up by a block... Can't send non-denominated funds...

Sunuva... The second I posted that, caught a block. I'll STFU now. Why it took so long is still a mystery, and why it claimed to be offline initially...
