Can someone explain to me why the Nem wallet is going to be browser based?
If you tell us your concerns I'm sure we'll be able to get them out of the way I was under the assumption the client wasn't going to be browser-based? Again what are your concerns ? Serving the GUI over a browser makes a lot of sense these days. It's more lightweight, easier to maintain and with all the fancy libraries in no way inferior to a native GUI. Maybe your concerns are more directed at brainwallets ? If this is the case then it will please you to hear that our client will support local wallets. Is it going to be browser-based? Do you know? So long as I can store my coins locally on my PC and not on some database then I'm fine with it. The GUI will run in the browser yes. However this is just to interact with the native client that is running in the background. You WILL BE ABLE TO STORE your wallet LOCALLY ! Ah. Gotcha

This is awesome that we are able to store our wallet locally. This can attract more people who are afraid of stealing coins from brainwallets e.g. when they are offline.

I hope NEM's wallets better than XRP's wallets(ripple coin), It's easy to use,UI is simple and nice...

some topic on marketplace/speculation got 5000+ posts but 200+ is the best result for the coin that is not out yet

The Ripple Client isn't bad at all imho. What is it that you don't like about it ? Ripple = The network ripples (short XRP) = The currency native to the network Ripple coin doesn't exist

The nxt clones are starting to sprout like mushrooms now . Promethium, NAS coin I am glad NEM decided to build something new, sticking with the old plan of cloning nxt would have been a disaster.

Can you post links here? Anyone sensible behind those initiatives? Or are those 1-to-1 copies of code, that JeanLuc published

I guess not thats why NEM is being developed from scratch . well it is part of the klone family, and if i am not mistaking, UF was one of the first responders to that. i'm not saying that the klone project was not a joke, i certainly thought it was. It looked funny with all those copycats coming out. The fact that they still do is quite interesting though, isn't it?

I will agree all these clones in the end will end up helping NXT become more popular. Thats exactly why NEM being developed from scratch was brilliant

I am not comparing anything, i just pointed out that many of nxt clones, sprouted because of the klone project, link to which i posted above. UF was the first dev to respond to the thread, check this yourself. Interested and already qualified The Nem project was already underway i think, although i am not sure. It is not hard to find out through post history

well don't be pissed, there is nothing to be pissed about. We must realise, there is nothing to gain if we support a "myCoin vs theOthercoin" attitude. We must realise, all coins are tools that transfer wealth. Our wealth. No coin is at war with any other coin. All coins out there are tools in our toolbags, we should use them wisely. The moment we start taking sides, is the very moment we are losing the game. All these coins will not be successful, and the ones that will succeed will do so because they will have a strong community, that will be willing to place trust (with its financial meaning) on that coin. There are only a handful of people in these boards that invest in only one coin, nobody should do this. Diversification and patience are key words, keep that in mind. Personally, I am waiting for the day when BTC1 = $10.000 But if Nxt, Nem, or a few other choices take me there, i will not say no. I find most of the coins here to be complimentary to each other.

NEM, the first cryptocurrency sent using a smartwatch. A future headline? I just read that Google has come out with Android Wear, a Android operating system for smartwatches. Smartphones, smartwatches and smart wearables are the future. The wallet can be unlocked with its internal password safe or with facial recognition (PCA, Eigenface, neural net) or with a NFC ring. The camera will read the NEM address from a QR code and the amount can be entered through its touchscreen keyboard (10-key, minuum.com etc... ). Is it difficult to get a basic NEM wallet running on a smartwatch?
