Which Exchange is best for buying/Selling ETH?

shapeshift.io
anonymous and pretty fast, ETH to BTC

from shapeshift.io:

Quote
WARNING: Ether is currently in its “Frontier” phase, which is highly experimental. Ether transactions (on both ShapeShift and other exchanges) will take 3 hours to confirm (and your exchange rate isnt determined until that confirmation happens) The only exception is if you use our “specific amount” feature (in which case we will lock your rate for 10 minutes as long as we receive the ether within those 10 minutes, but it will still take 3 hours to receive your BTC on the other end). Consider Ether highly risky during Frontier – no guarantees are made about anything, whatsoever.

lol

They have to put that there, as a disclaimer. But that doesn't mean that their services don't work flawlessly. I have used them several times and have exchanged about 5 BTCs worth so far. Never had any problems!

Why 3 hours...? That's something like ~600 confirmations. Seems rather excessive.

https://www.reddit.com/r/ethereum/comments/479p58/kryptokit_launches_jaxx_ethereum_bitcoin_wallet/
Anthony from Kryptokit here. Today, our new cross-platform Ethereum & Bitcoin wallet, Jaxx, launches in Android Tablet format. In keeping with the other versions of Jaxx, the Android tablet version offers a single-page, intuitive UI, with the added benefit of a new landscape layout that takes full advantage of the larger screen dimensions. We’ve also updated all other versions of Jaxx (iOS mobile and tablet, Android mobile, Chrome and Firefox extensions) to 0.0.9 with the latest fixes.
As we continue to unify the Bitcoin and Ethereum experience across devices, the Android tablet version marks the sixth Jaxx release. The next phase of our roll-out will be the simultaneous launch of three desktop versions: Windows, Mac, and Linux on Feburary 25th, two days from now.

For this we'll make sure the sale duration is at least a month, and we'll keep the price of Slock token the same for say, a week and half. This way, only people who went offline for an entire week and half would be a (slight) disadvantage. If this sounds familiar, it should, as it's also how Ethereum proceeded.

Hmm - this from Boost VC article

"It really wasn’t until some of them approached us and said they were switching off of Bitcoin to Ethereum because of ease of use and a robust toolkit.'

"Ethereum is now being considered by everyone who is looking at or currently building a blockchain company."

PS: Pumperitis, you could be posting that face/wall GIF for years to come, can you make it any smaller?

How do they solve the problem of fast block size increase? Its size is over 9 Gigabytes now. That is a lot.

It takes pretty much same amount of time to deposit to Poloniex. It takes 375 confirmations to deposit to Kraken. Don't forget that we are still in Frontier. This will change with Homestead.

It's like you guys are playing wow but with a super-light client i.e. a wallet that holds only gold. Sure you can trade or HODL it to your hearts content and enjoy the profits in fiat from such endeavors but you've missed the game completely. Those that gloss over the exchange graphs and see only "money" are completely missing the technical miracle that's occurring before them.

My understanding is that mining will continue as POS after a switch from the current POW mechanism.

My understanding is that mining will continue as POS after a switch from the current POW mechanism.

There is some sort of proposed mechanism that will make the POW mining extremely difficult at the same time a POS algorithm (called Casper) is launched. So I think there will be a period where Ethereum is both POW and POS, but the idea is that POW mining should come to an end very quickly because it will not be possible to profit. I'm not really sure if POW will eventually be disabled entirely, but that would seem to make sense.

Also this mechanism does not currently exist, its simply been proposed, although its pretty likely the developers have at least some of the working code done already. I've seen a lot of dates floated around but the truth is the software as proposed, doesn't exist yet. Setting a date would be pointless right now because its just not close enough for public deployment. I imagine it will happen by the end of 2016, or early 2017 at the latest.

The transfer to PoS is planned by the end this this year. It might be delayed. As the Ethereum was delayed many times.

Drop back? The  price is still around 0.014. I would call that high price. If it drops to 0.008, that is a dump.

Bosses, i need your help.

I think i am on the wrong Ethereum chain whit my MIST wallet, I am not receiving any Ethereum anymore on my wallet, nor payments send come true to the other end.

I have downloaded the mist wallet two mnd ago, and upgraded in time to the newest beta version of mist. First thinks seems to work fine until 11 February when i noticed my mining payments where not coming in anymore Huh

Yesterday i found time to look in to this and made to payments: one Ether to Bleutrade and one Ether coin to Bittrex (Bleutrade dipossit address: 0x0812e679b29c57388574a46795fcd7105313ccab  and YoBit: 0xfe89312856df959de9d646eeb615b38c46d8d8b8

For example the deposit to Yobit screenshot below:

And this is the Payment to Bleutrade:

Unfortunately non of the two payments seems to received on the receivers end (Bleutrade and YoBit)

What did i overlooked, what can i do to get a functional wallet?

I appreciated any help i can get,
