We know it's meaningless and has no real advantages to Bitcoin but... the majority of people don't.
The majority of people know very little about crypto, and they never want to learn. Learning new knowledge is mostly a burden to them. And bear in mind that most people don't judge things by content and quality, but by appearance, and often with their their own prejudice in an emotional way.
Dogecoin early promoters painted the (false) image that "Bitcoin is used by criminals but Dogecoin isn't, so DOGE saved the crypto reputation, thus better than BTC". And the Doge brand seems to be more cute than Bitcoin's "golden coin". These superficial appearances are enough for many people to prefer DOGE to BTC, emotionally.
With these adopters existing, DOGE will keep flourishing. It's people's belief which gives money / cryptocurrency its value.
For DOGE to go away, there needs to be some dramatic events such as a major hack which reveals its big security flaws, or if it turns out that criminals use DOGE too, which tears apart its false "cute" image.

Dogecoin is not bad but the team of the coin is inactive and no development is going in that coin and because of that reason the coin keeps on going down. Dogecoin is more suitable for holders. You can buy Dogecoin with part of you funds, not all of it, and hold for months to take profits. It is very easy to earn profits from Dogecoin. The matter is you patience to hold it and wait till days it rises to take profits. Buy at lows and sell at highs, not do opposite, and you will get profits from Dogecoin, certainly.

I don't use DOGE any more but I used to use it for live betting when Directbet was around, because of its cheap fees and fast confirmation times. I think having one minute blocks with 1 DOGE fees is great, however, outside of casinos, nobody really uses it for anything.

He rage quit bitcointalk, don't you remember?  This was after a serious feud with Vod and after Spoetnik became disillusioned with altcoins and the forum if I'm remembering right.

I was also surprised to see one of his threads bumped, tho I bet our posts will probably be deleted and the thread locked.  I think it's cool that it was bumped, because a doge thread from 2014 is really interesting to me.  Who would have thought doge would survive this long and remain popular at that.  The price hasn't gone up much in 5 years, but it's still one of the little gems in the altcoin world in my opinion.  Great for gambling, and it would be a good currency if only shops accepted it.

I don't think dogecoin is bad but instead I think its not that good for long term investment knowing that there it is just create as a meme coin and doesn't really have any uses. Also, I think doge coin is better in doing a short term investment such as trading and scalping done hodling it long-termly.

Well, the current pump is well outside its fundamentals, but I'd say DOGE has more uses than most coins, which can be demonstrated by its relatively high number of transactions. It has a strong, dedicated community. It's cheap to send, cheap to buy and easy to denominate. A lot of casinos accept it as payment. I wouldn't be surprised if all this newfound attention invigorates it kind of like it invigorated GameStop as a company.
