We were considering adding new coins to our site. Replacing the freeplay with arsecoin which is a parody coin which effectively is free (no value). We have seen some sites clone their own sites to use for dogecoin versions...
I guess the people mining them have invested their hopes and dreams into making some money which will hold up the value for a little while. I think the tipping point is whether service providers like hosting and real world goods invest their trust that the currency will hold it's value.
I agree with the original posters sentiment though, nothing more vexing than seeing a bad job done which reflects badly on all the hard work other people have been putting into bitcoin etc.

As do I. My holdings in Bitcoin far exceed those in Doge (value wise), but while Bitcoin has stagnated, Doge is vibrant and active. People are using it and liking it. While I understand Spoetnik's anger, I can't do anything about his failure to understand the tech is only important as long as it works. Right now crypto has problems that cannot be solved by tech. At this moment a silly little Litecoin clone worth about a twentieth of a cent is kicking major ass in introducing people to cryptocurrency and countering the negative perception the public has toward it. I like this for two reasons: 1) It is good for crypto. 2) It really pisses off the arrogant assholes whose personal narrative is too limited to encompass an unexpected development like the popularity of Dogecoin. |
