Thanks infovortice!

How does everyone feel about adding a mining category? Will it help draw in more traffic or will it negate from the primary objective?

My personal opinion? If done well, it should add value to the site. I say that because most media outlets that cover the mining scene present it in a negative, almost childish light and that seems counter productive. Since many of us are small scale miners, it would be nice to have a professional, well managed section on mining. We all need to remember, without miners, there is no coin.

Also, Alan, you are, of course dead on with listening being the most important skill in business. If you don't take the time to learn the other persons point of view, how can you possibly negotiate? Give and take are what make deals possible. Anything forced will fall apart very quickly.

Anyway, yes, a mining section, well run with no sensational screaming headlines and stupid crap just to produce a word count would be great! Especially if you covered the little guys scene, like me! Smiley

"Do we want a price feed?  The site is beautiful right now and you're right we don't want it cluttered, but I think everyone will expect some kind of price feed.  Otherwise they will have to check somewhere else for it.  I think it would give the site more credibility if there was 2 or 3 other coins besides DNotes and bitcoin.  Since DCEB's audience is executives, politicans, and possibly other regulatory bodies, I would suggest no anonymous coins."

Sigh. Agreed. And there's an interesting discussion due here: certainly a 2.0 crypto. Otherwise, dependent on reasonable past performance?

Larger market cap?

National coins? (Put up your hand if you knew that Sakura is a 'Japanese' coin.)

Unobtanium as a 'crypto-commodity'? (There's a good article about it here: https://coinwarp.net/altcoins/unobtanium-0-inflation-cryptocurrency )

EDIT:

BanxShares: at Nos. 10. Seriously ‘corporate’ coin. Great performance, though still rather new.
Yb Coin: Nos. 19. Chinese. Established. Good past performance.
Unobtanium: established, good performance, ‘crypto-commodity’
Nxt: Nos. 9. Quintessential techies’ coin. Poor performance but has ‘bottomed out’ recently. Hard hard slog for newbies.
Dogecoin: Nos. 5. Performance okay (just). Tremendous 'starters' coin: helpful community, family friendly.

Note: not Litecoin: major volume but a pump-n-dump trap.

Excellent critique IMZ. For the most part, coin designers tend to think mainly of their own skills and desires when laying out the basics. Many don't really understand the average not so crypto savvy human and others just don't care. Still other coins are designed to make a statement or be a monument to the developers skill. And of course, there are the scams and PnD traps.

This is an arena where you won't find DNotes. DNotes was designed for the average person who doesn't want to take a course in programming or economics to use a coin while still maintaining desirable high tech features that you don't need to understand to benefit from. Correct me if I'm wrong but, the designers took the best features and functionality out there and brought that together in DNotes, the average person's crypto with just enough tech to make it a viable store of value well into the foreseeable future. .

Sorry RJF, my comment on unnecessary information probably came across in the wrong way. Embarrassed  Everyone here realizes how critical mining is, even me, the most un-tech person around.  All I was thinking about was the target audience.

Dyna - "Our proposed new site DCEBrief.com is partly the result of this event. I came to the realization that many high level executives, including regulators and political leaders lack the time to learn about real issues confronting our industry. There is a serious "knowledge vacuum", causing significant confusion and loss of opportunities."

DNotes - "The intent will be to help educate our industry and regulators in a meaningful way. There are a multitude of problems we can address with this site from media to regulation and the general lack of understanding of our industry. Targeting busy political leaders and business executives."

I agree with TeeGee "The only requirement so far as I see it, is a good explanation of what mining is - so that business leaders can understand why their transactions are more secure, instant, and safe."  Could this and whatever else is necessary information on mining for these executives and politicians come under the technology heading??

Just curious (as a non-miner), what else do you think executives and politicians would need to know about mining?  Would they need, benefit from, or have time for, Mining 101?

No apology needed. To answer your question, even though mining is simply verification of transactions, the act of mining can be considered "coin creation" depending on how you look at it which leads to creating wealth which could lead to regulation if no education is presented up front. I can easily see some politician looking at miners and saying "but they are the key to all of this, we need to regulate the mining "industry" to control crypto currency"  And at the small or, sometimes non existent profits, small miners make, there would be a mass exodus from the industry. I spend more on electricity than I make mining DNotes or, just break even most of the time. I do it for several reasons, I'm an engineer and I love the technology and the challenge, I know DNotes will continue to appreciate and the equation will invert soon and, it's needed to keep the coin healthy.

Remember, better to operate in a vacuum than be regulated by someone with a limited amount of knowledge in the subject material. If mining stops, crypto cannot survive unless you are POS and then the user becomes the miner, there is no way out of the box. Consider the following in terms of crypto and government:

"First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me."

Pastor Martin Niemöller

What do we do when they come for the miners?

And, on the subject of mining, I kinda shot off on a tangent there. Yes, "Mining 101" would be the thing and current developments in the field especially those that bring value to the industry and/or a politicians district or area of economic concern. If we can keep mining in a positive light, unlike most published articles today, we can keep the decision makers informed.

The information would help alleviate fears of the unknown and eliminate the "rich fat miners" perception. Someone needs to do it, why not DCEBrief? Remember, politicians are businessman and women as well for the most part, they are part of our target audience.

For the mining content, you want them to have a general understanding of mining and cover any important information in the mining field. I don't believe this will require a category of it's own, after looking through recent developments in mining (http://www.coindesk.com/technology/mining/), there are a few topics I can see us covering. So my recommendation would be to cover them in existing categories, whether they fall into Regulation, Bitcoin, DNotes, Business, or Technology.

Yes, that would be more than acceptable. We don't need to break it down too far, in fact, better as one category, thanks!

Mining is crypto, is blockchain is tecnologie  is security is coin production is transactions, without that hardly you cant understand nothing about crypto. Same way has his own evolution its an entire ecosystem relationed with crypto. I see that fundamental in brief web. Same way see the last models of miners of thousands dolars make you instantly understand that this is more than a kid game. And when site has own traffic can make presentations of produtcs to mantain his self.

DNotes is there. I thought it was missing as well but, the site only loads part of the screen at any time. As you scroll down, more of the screen is added to the visual area. Not very good for marketing or finding something quickly, kinda "quirky"...

It looks like the design of this site is great, in fact, this is probably the project that I'm most excited about. It provides an excellent avenue to divert internet traffic to DNotes other various properties. It also provides a great means to get the digital currency idea out there to people who run businesses.

It appears that the main content for the website is well considered, in terms of executive summaries for topics that would be of interest to industry people and business execs. I imagine those topics will be 'stickies' on the site, or have their own special heading. I've heard the idea of other content being posted, like news and opinion pieces, will much of this be copied from other news sources / journalists / content providers the team creates relationships with? Otherwise what sort of 'topics' do people think would be a great start to write about? For example, IMZ has done a great job at cryptomoms with his updates in 'crypto-kindergarten'.

We could come up with a shoebox of ideas / topics that members in the community could write short - 500-1000 word articles about, post them to a DNotes community writers e-mailing list for 'peer-review', and then publish?

Truly great, great way to get the message out. Must be done very professionally, with every idea posted being solid and factual to the best of ability.

Hoping I got the right impression here. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

All indications are that DCEBrief will become a significant contribution to our industry. It has the potential to bring our industry together to focus on issues that matter. It is indeed a very exciting project and could be the most valuable catalyst for DNotes to be the global digital currency much sooner than it otherwise could.

Your anticipation of the site’s content is quite correct. We are still refining certain ideas and concepts. I plan to post more details in a few days. In the mean time it will indeed be very helpful if “We could come up with a shoebox of ideas / topics that members in the community could write short - 500-1000 word articles about, post them to a DNotes community writers e-mailing list for 'peer-review”. I would make that easier.  Just come with a list of titles and themes.

I have a very long list of writers (300 +) LinkedIn connections who could be invited to participate and be given 5,000 DNotes for submitting an article based on our list of titles and format. They will be paid more if the article is selected and published. Outstanding writers will be invited to write additional articles.

If you haven't voted already, please vote for DNotes at Cryptsy:
https://www.cryptsy.com/coinvotes

.0002 Bitcoin per vote X 40,000 votes needed to be number one (at the time this was written, with some overhead) = 8 Bitcoin.

If anyone out there with deep pockets would like to get DNotes on Cryptsy right away, all you have to do is send 8 or more Bitcoin to:

Cool! I just did the math on using Cryptsy Points instead of Bitcoin directly and works out to much less.

1 Cryptsy Point costs: .00015000 Bitcoin (at time of posting) You get 5 votes per Cryptsy Point therefore, to reach 40000 votes, you need 8000 Cryptsy Points. Buying 8000 Cryptsy Points at .00015 costs 1.2 Bitcoin.

So, you should be able to get 40000 votes for 1.2 Bitcoin worth of Cryptsy Points. If I'm correct (please someone check the math before you spend any Bitcoin) we should be able to reach #1 for 1.2 Bitcoin. We then need to maintain #1 position until the count is taken.

From Cryptsy:

"Using the buttons below, each Cryptsy user is allowed 1 free vote per coin. We are also accepting paid votes, which have no limit on the number of votes you can cast. Adding new markets requires a significant development investment for each new coin, so your paid votes will help offset the costs and accelerate the development time.

Paid votes can be submitted using either BTC or CryptsyPoints. To vote with BTC, simply send BTC to the deposit address listed next to the coin(s) you wish to support.

I'm away from my computers for a few days, but have a couple old SHA 256 ASICS that I'll devote to buying votes until DNotes is on Cryptsy.

Every 0.0002 BTC sent to the respective address received will count for 1 vote. You can click on the address link next to any coin to view payment votes cast using BTC, which are posted after getting 2 or more confirmations.

Alternatively, we are also accepting CryptsyPoints as part of our paid vote program (5 votes per CryptsyPoint). After you cast your free vote, you will then have the option to vote again with your CryptsyPoints as often as you like."

You're right!  You get around 7 votes paying with points compared to 1 with bitcoin.  Here's a big duh on my part - I just bought 100 votes with bitcoin. Cry

I haven't really been watching which coins are getting listed on Cryptsy.  Do they have a set schedule for adding them such as one a week or month?  I haven't even heard of a lot of them in the top 20 or 30 so we may not have to get all the way to 40,000 if some of them are dead or dying.  I'm assuming some of them will get chosen before we get there.

Should we do a community push to get listed?  I will commit to buy some every week until we get there.

Each vote is less than a penny if you use Cryptsy Points - Thanks RJF!!
