From CryptoMoms Forum: Quote from: Ashley on Today at 01:45:43 PM More news out of Australia: "Bitcoin not a financial product: ASIC" - http://news.yahoo.com/bitcoin-not-financial-product-asic**************** Quote from Shepherd: Very interesting article. At this point, the best conclusion I can arrive at is that legal classification of digital currency is, at best, "unsettled" which is likely to be the case for some time. DNotesVault is just a secure web wallet. We do not sell or exchange DNotes. Favorable regulatory environment with clear regulatory guidelines will be important when we are ready to deploy one of our future building blocks; an active exchange. "financial product" is a very broad category that includes funds, trusts, fiat and other instruments revolving around fiat. I don't see a problem with this determination right now in fact, it will help crypto to continue to grow without strangulating regulation. I do think we, as the crypto community, better decide very soon just what our product is before the wrong definition sticks. In that light, I believe a new category is certainly needed that encompasses all the functionality of crypto but without the old world regulations. I'm not saying we should be unregulated but, I am saying we should be involved in crafting our regulations along with lawmakers to match the real world uses of our currency/commodity/digitalcash, etc. One the most important pieces of legislation now pending here in the US is the 5 year moratorium on Bitcoin regulation, HR5777 which can be read here: http://www.scribd.com/doc/249166455/HR-5777-The-Cryptocurrency-Protocol-Protection-and-Moratorium-Act You might want to push your congressman to vote for this as it will allow digital currency to continue to grow and find a place for itself before being regulated to death... The proposed five-year moratorium on digital currency regulation within the US as proposed under HR 5777 submitted to Congress by US Representative Steve Stockman is a good move, though it does not seem to have much of a chance being passed into law. Some consumer protection regulations will gain enough support sooner or later. In the meantime, uncertainties are not good for the industry either. We will continue in executing our strategic plans based on the assumption that there will be different degree of regulations worldwide and position DNotes in the most favorable position in getting regulatory approval when needed. This news might help speed up the process http://www.cnbc.com/id/102275772#. Russians move into bitcoin as ruble tanksTransaction volumes between the ruble and digital currency bitcoin enjoyed their biggest day of the year on Tuesday as the Russian central bank failed to halt the ruble's tumble. The ruble plunged more than 11 percent against the greenback Tuesday — its steepest intraday fall since 1998 — as traders dumped a currency that has crumbled on the back of weaker oil prices and sanctions against Russia by the West.

This is another reminder that fiat currency is not always a good store of value. Prudent investors should always have a diversified portfolio. I envision that, before long, digital currency will constitute a part of that portfolio. When that happens, top on list of criterion for selection will be stability and capital appreciation. DNotes will score well.

Just a quick note for anyone having trouble receiving DNotesVault.com email. There is a known issue with some email providers, specifically hotmail. Adding vault@dnotesvault.com will remedy the issue, we are also setting up a resend registration email link. Edit: Some of the email providers have strong anti-spam measures that inevitably block legitimate consensual mailings. As mentioned previously, the way around that for now is to add our sending email to your safe list and each provider has a different procedure. If anyone needs help adding to your safe list please feel free to contact us. There is now a link on the login page and registration page that will allow you resend your activation email. We have updated to a different email provider with better guaranteed delivery. So far seems to be working well.

To me it looks as if DNotes has been a "Steady as she goes" currency with taking the time to make it valuable in different ways. Especially for instance the cryptomoms. I am pretty new but have taken my time to research a bunch before getting on board with any currency. I have made that leap and truly believe this is the best one out there. I have read the posts about the fire fighters as well and am stoked about that as well. Been in a fire fighting family for years and their work is very valuable, this currency would be great for them as well.

Hi Grandmama, thanks for supporting CryptoMoms and now here to give us a helping hand, Even though you are new you have been making some great observations with excellent posts. The optimum success of DNotes can only come about from the participation of a large number of DNotes stakeholders promoting and protecting DNotes, CryptoMoms, and now DNotesVault for their mutual benefits as a group. It is the unity of force, coming from a growing number of common people in pursuit of their common goals that makes our achievement sustainable with increasing momentum. We are delighted to notice that quite a few new supporters have been helping us to spread the message. DNotes real greatness will come about when each and everyone of us try to do a little good for others while helping ourselves. This is a grassroots community effort to shape the future of money for the common people and the financially disadvantaged away from the central control of a few rich and powerful. The decentralized nature of digital currency is such that the actions of the majority always rule.

Still, every long term coin strategy needs an economic model to survive the initial excitement. I've seen many coins do well until the highly anticipated spike and the following selloff... at which point the coin is practically dead in the water... speculation can be good to get a market position, but needs to be sustained with economic activities (buying and selling goods with the coin) so I would think a payment gateway is pretty essential early in the game... the sooner the better... am looking for that model with this coin

However, prior to that a largely, diversified critical mass of owners is needed. The composition of this owner base is critical to prevent liquidation of large amounts of DNotes. I see they are addressing this issue on a sustained basis and painstakingly. This leads to an upward sloping curve (due to value addition by adding number of properties like cryptomoms, dnotesvault etc) while preventing a collapse. Payment gateway is not a technology solution but a social/business/economic solution that will work only with a currency that has shown price stability with an upward drift and low volatility. They are painstaking seem to be avoiding all things that can trip them up. It is indeed very strategic because the outcomes they want is truly a function of time (survival) and if they can guarantee survival, merchant adoption etc. will come of their own accord.

Wow! You guys get it! Very astute observation. Very different business model than ALL other coins. AND....none of the coins out there currently are following this model, it is too late....they are already too volitle. Most have already broken any trust built up. The only way to replicate this model is to design it from day one to fit this business model. Like DNotes.

Hi minerpage, welcome to DNotes. It would be nearly impossible to find a block using the wallet CPU miner. However if you have mining hardware, it is possible to set your wallet up as the server, and direct your miner toward it.
