Sam, you have no clue why i am asking for it...

Very true.  And after reading your explanation, I still have no clue.  But I guess you would expect that from a lazy drone miner.
Sam

Why can't people just stop feeding the trolls? He's trolled this thread before and will keep doing so until he's ignored.
Anyhow, his "arguments" are complete crap (choosing the pool with the highest payout based on its luck, yeah rofl), so responding to them is a waste of time. Roll Eyes

It just doesn't apply to a PPS Pool!

But I want a clear and concise explanation, in one sentence, as to why he thinks that would be beneficial.

There is nothing wrong with asking for a pool feature regardless of whether its a good idea or not.  But I just don't see that he has explained his logic.  So either he doesn't understand PPS, which is seriously doubt, or he is withholding his real motivations.

Anyway to me, making baseless accusations, name calling and telling the pool op he's a terrible businessman is just not necessary and is unacceptable!  If he feels that strongly about round stats he should make his case intelligently.  If that is feeding the trolls, and I guess it is, I'm sorry.

I just need the share count to differentiate BTCG from a slow or bad luck pool and thus slower payouts...

Trolls need to be fed too!

Well, just a noob's perspective here:  Let's put everything aside and say that, indeed, he just wants this pool as a backup so he can pool-hop.  From the pools I've looked at, stats are withheld for an at least an hour to stop such people from doing that anyway.  But then he'll say 'let me make that determination'.  Then we'll say past performance is not an indicator for future rounds.  Then he'll say we're a bunch of morons.  Then I'll ask him what kind of pool fails as often as his does that makes him have to look elsewhere for backup (and badgers this thread in the process).  Then he'll say it wasn't for backup, he's looking for a primary pool instead, et al.  To whomever you are, if you're desperately trying to chase the last lucky round, you'll never get to it.

Also, since you can't play well with others and simply can't explain what exactly you want (watch, he'll say English is not his native language and us, morons, just can't seem to get what he's saying), why not try solo mining?  No pools to hop, no admins to talk to, you can determine your own rounds and you can operate on your own terms.

Almost guarantee that he wants round shares so when an LP comes in from Deepbit, but the round was actually BTCGuild's...he can have bitHopper re-assign that block to BTCGuild Wink

I'm not sure I understand that?  Are you saying a program can submit shares from one pool to another after a block has been solved?!?

Sorry but English is my primary language Wink so some of this is all greek to me.

Obviously, which is why I asked for clarification.  I still don't know what you mean by "re-assign that block to BTCGuild"  though?

I don't want to hijack this pool thread, go read up on bitHopper if you have questions.

All that's going to show is how much El made or lost on the round and well TBH I don't care about that...

That is why even I don't keep track of it.  A huge reason for the switch to PPS was to reduce the mental fatigue of monitoring round lengths and freaking out everytime we had a long round.  I monitor profit/loss (which is just luck in the end) on a much broader scale now.  I have no control or influence on it, so obsessing over that kind of stat is just a waste of energy.

E - I want to apologize for giving you and your fanboys a hard time  Kiss.  I found that your pool's share reject rate to be a better metric to compare your pool against other pools in a backup role (non-prop pools that pay consistent reward for each share submitted.)  Your pool is efficient enough to be a primary pool for my proxy which comprises of BTCG, ABC, Ars, Triple, Red, Master, Eligius, EMC, and Yourbtc.  EMC, Masterpool, and BTCG are very efficient.  Keep up the good work!

I know the payment methods are different, but efficiency is the most important important metric with my mining strategy. Wink

Also, I bet you will attract more miners if you show the number of shares since your last block found...hurts nobody and you can get meds to control your anxiety "A huge reason for the switch to PPS was to reduce the mental fatigue of monitoring round lengths and freaking out everytime we had a long round."...  Not a problem for me...  Who cares why I want it...Eve and I pay fees and so will more miners...if you aren't a Moron, you will see it is win/win...sorry for the loaded statement, you are obviously smart but unreasonably obstinate... Tongue

Nope, still nope.

Who cares why I want it.
Actually, it does matter for a number of reasons. Two that I can think of off the top of my head are 1. Using one pool's stats to do evil on another pool and 2. Screen clutter/confusing other BTC Guild users. Many would wonder why round shares are being reported in a pool where round shares DO NOT MATTER to ANYONE (but Eleuthria) because of the PPS payment system. Also, you STILL have not given an actual logical reason that makes sense (to anyone but yourself) for wanting it.

I pay fees and so will more miners.
Nope, still nope.

Why nope?  Support it with logic...

"Screen clutter/confusing other BTC Guild users?" I am talking about in JSON...are you watching stats via the api page?

Two things off the top of my head to help, 1. please stay away from the API page like https://www.btcguild.com/api.php?api_key=UrWEtoddDiDSOFAkingWEtoddDiD to view stats 2. just go to https://www.btcguild.com for stats.  less confusing...

"Using one pool's stats to do evil on another pool?"  That is crazy talk; can you articulate an explanation to that statement..?

Thanks for the input.  Please maintain seriousness at all times  Grin

I've added an entry on the How to Connect page for users of the Ztex FPGAs, and a link to the download page for the latest BTC Miner for those FPGAs in that section.  Just got my first batch and so far they've been mining flawlessly for the last 18 hours, with better than advertised speeds.

Anybody interested in a long term BTC mining presence should definitely check them out if they're in an area like me where the power costs prohibit GPU mining at the current price:difficulty ratios.  You really can't beat 190-210 MH/s for less than 10 watts of power Smiley.

Good to hear they didn't blew up @ "12V"  Cheesy. How is your reject rate compared to a gpu ? I see more rejects with the FPGA board. 5850s and 6670 over here.

Reject rate is higher than GPUs (Hard to compete with < 0.1%), but even so the speed I'm measuring is valid shares only.  After the first 17 hours, Median Speed is 200.43, Mean is 196.99 [using the 1 hour averages provided on performance charts with BTC Guild].  Peak was 240 MH/s over a 1 hour period, low was 169 MH/s over a 1 hour period.

I'm compiling a lot of data on these, hopefully I'll be turning on a small cluster (11 chips) next week and be able to provide people with a good sample of speed readings, averages, power consumption, rejection rates, etc.
