The following is the projected timeline for upcoming changes.  I will give an "official" warning 3 days prior to the merged mining removal, at which point a server will be identified for users to move to if they wish to continue with merged mining.  These are subject to change, but should be close to what happens.

November 23rd:  PPLNS made available for Stratum.  Configuration to be made available on a per-worker basis under Worker Management.
November 23rd:  Warning for removal of merged mining.
November 25th:  Ability to specify a requested difficulty on Stratum.  This will be done through the website, not the worker password field as originally mentioned.
November 26th:  Removal of merged mining from the default pool servers.
Early December:  Extra statistics page that will show you your current Stratum connection information.  This will display all of your currently connected Stratum sessions, as well as the difficulty each session has been adjusted to.

Have specific difficulties been implemented because I don't see any changes on the website (or I'm looking in the wrong spot).  (Not complaining, just asking). Are all changes delayed until the 25BTC halving or just PPLNS?

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

The reward halving has put a lot of this work on hold until the first week of December.  There's just too many things that could possibly go wrong and cost me a LOT of money if I don't put all of my focus on making sure the site has all hard-coded 50 BTC references removed, and run test data through my payment code.  I honestly hadn't been keeping up to date with the date for halving, and was thinking I had 5-7 days more time than I actually did to make sure everything else is ready for the change.

Yeah, not sure why I was imagining I had a few extra days to be honest.  Maybe I thought November had 35 days in it ;p.

At least I bought a nice batch of energy drinks so I can stay awake if that timer gets too close to a time I'd normally be asleep.  There's one change I have to make manually since the reward change doesn't line up with a difficulty adjustment, and the way the PPS database is structured can't have two block rewards tied to the same difficulty.

Merged Mining update:

Merged mining has been removed from all pools except for mergedmining.btcguild.com as of about 3 hours ago.  I will be pushing an update to the My Account page shortly which will hide any NMC information if you do not have an NMC wallet set.  After the BTC reward halving, I will also be resetting the NMC wallet address/wallet lock (not BTC lock) for anybody that has not been mining on the mergedmining.btcguild.com pool, and hide the NMC stats for those users as well.  All you have to do to restore the NMC statistics is add an NMC wallet back to the account (same one as before or a new one).

Ok, so I am out of ideas (till tomorrow.. Cheesy )
I had one worker (25GHs) implementing long_polling (99% accepted) and maybe 40GHs (less than 95% accepted) workers not implementing long_polling during last long_polling sht storm.
When I activated long_polling on the rest of the workers, they went to 99% accepted but the 25GHs worker fell to 95% accepted..
I'm old school, I'm doing getwork (I can do stratum, but I like diff1).
Any tip?

We're in the last ~21 hours before the reward drops.  I'm posting advanced notice that all BTC payouts will be frozen when we are 6 blocks from the change, and it will be unfrozen hopefully within 30 minutes of the drop.  I don't want to fall asleep after the change (staying up all night just in case the network has good luck today), only to wake up with 0 BTC left in the wallet and a lot of people that have withdrawn 100+ coins more than they should've been able to Smiley.

I was able to push out the manual and automatic payout updates early after giving it a few hours of testing, so the payouts will NOT be frozen as initially planned.

Most of the website has been updated to the new rewards.  The normal 50 BTC rates are still in effect until the reward is dropped, they've just been updated a few hours early so I don't forget.  I've been operating purely on caffeine, since I had to stay up all night to make sure the network doesn't get a huge surge of blocks.  The estimate already moved 4 hours ahead of what it was at yesterday morning, so it looks like I made the right choice.

I noticed that the 24 hour earnings figure has suddenly been cut in half.  Just preparation for the halving?

Yes.  The 24 hour earnings stat has always been less of a "earnings in the last 24 hours", and more of a "this is how much you will earn in the next 24 hours, based on how many shares you've submitted in the last 24 hours".  I did update the API and My Account 24-hour earnings to reflect 25 BTC already.

BTC Guild found the last of the 50 BTC blocks!  Pool was updated a few seconds after, and the 25 BTC reward is now in full effect.  Your earnings history will show 3438907 as a difficulty with 50 BTC/block, and 3438908 as a difficulty with 25 BTC/block to indicate the reward split.

Congrats on the final block!
Sorry no fireworks and applause for the 209999 block like the first 25 block, but it's still uber cool!

Yeah, would've been nice to get fireworks, but I'll settle for 25 BTC higher base reward over 13.5 BTC in celebration fees Smiley.

do they plan on raising trans fees so bloock rewards are 25+ trans fees and if so how does that work in to the pool?
i mean if we mine a block that has 5 btc worth of trans fees do we get a higher pps rate or no ?

The PPS side of the pool will not include transaction fees ever.  However, if transaction fees average to 1%+ of the block reward [key word, AVERAGE], I will reduce the fee by 1%.  Same thing if they hit 2%+ of the block reward on average.

The PPLNS side will not initially include transaction fees, but that will likely be added if enough users make use of that payment option [coming later this week!].

if a person wants to get all their namecoins and has not put in a NMC wallet...

I assume they would add a wallet for namecoin and do what then?

Just add a namecoin wallet and the rewards will appear next to where the Bitcoin rewards are shown.  You can then request a namecoin payout.
