Bonjour,

Greetings,
Did a quick search on this topic for "repair" and didn't see anything related to sending R606 Terminus units back in for repair (if it's even possible).
I've got 4 that won't run. Looks like the power bricks that I purchased with them went south on me and did something to the units. So hopefully nothing permanent, but a quick and easy fix.
Anyone?

Your supplier should process the repair for you. You should contact them first.

Not to sound an alarm bell, but was anyone in contact with sidehack lately? I don't see any posts since June 18, send him a message on June 29, no reply. He could be working 24/7 on something new, though. Hopefully.

Also it's like a million degrees in my shop right now so it's hard to get motivated. The list of things that I need to do but can't from inside the one air-conditioned room here is growing.

ok I am a total rpi noob here --- i did the following: sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get upgrade -y
sudo apt-get install -y build-essential git libusb-1.0-0-dev libusb-1.0-0 libcurl4-openssl-dev libncurses5-dev libudev-dev screen libtool automake pkg-config libjansson-dev
mkdir -p git/vthoang; cd git/vthoang git clone -b r606 https://github.com/vthoang/cgminer.git cd cgminer
CFLAGS="-O2" ./autogen.sh --enable-gekko make -j 2
and I see a folder called git/vthoang/cgminer - its has a few other folders and dozens of files. Unless I am missing it - I cannot find the one I need to configure to mine. Am I missing something else here? edit - I found it - had to find the post that talked about creating the .sh file and then i was good to go. miner is hashing away now to see if it will actually perform better than it did on windows.

Yep, Linux does make the difference. And the Pi 4 Hardware is really neat and nifty. I like it.

now I just have to figure out a better os - the one it came with stinks - out of 6 different nodes I tried only one has worked. So gotta look at how to ditch the sd card and just run it off the 2 tb external ssd I have.
i rebooted the pi and am now getting an error -- I found the issue in the Q&A but it doesnt work for me Q. How to get past "USB init, open device failed" ... "you don't have privilege to access" error.
cd ~/git/vthoang/cgminer/ sudo usermod -G plugdev -a `whoami` sudo cp 01-cgminer.rules /etc/udev/rules.d/ sudo reboot
my guess is the whole cd ~/git because it returns unknown directory. it was working fine but now it doesnt? just because I rebooted? when I run lsusb - it shows the miner edit ---- it was the permissions - it somehow got set back to "only owner" once I changed it to "Anyone" and rebooted it was working smh.

Has anyone running on rockpro64? Seems to be a popular node setup for node enthusiasts lately.

I've looked through as many of the posts as I can, and haven't really found the information I need. Sorry if this is redundant.
I just received my first R606. I have a Windows 10 machine, and went through the steps to plug it in, including updating the drivers. When I start cgminer, it says it's resetting the device over and over and then fails saying that it didn't find any chips. I've tried on two different machines to ensure that it wasn't just a single machine.
Is it a bad unit? Is there anything else I can do to check before I ask for a replacement?
Thank you.

Well if you read many posts then you should know you need to forget about Win10. It SUCKS as it really screws up USB communication. In the meantime: 1. What Power Supply are you using? 2. Set your frequency to 550Mhz. 3. Set your voltage to 4 or 5. 4. You don't say what pool your using, but use solo.ckpool.org for testing purposes with Bitcoin mining. 5. Use the --gekko-noboost or --gekko-lowboost options which were for trying to get Win10 to function. Aside from that you need to setup a Ubuntu Linux machine or get a Pi 4 with raspian Linux. Good Luck

Yeah, I've read the posts that Win10 sucks. But I've also seen users with success. So...I was hoping...Building a ubuntu Linux machine is more than I wanted to bite off but if I was so inclined, does one of the beginning posts have the complete steps to follow? Assume I know nothing about Linux (although I have ancient experience in Unix).
To answer some of your questions anyway:
1. I tried both using my current Power Supply which has ample bandwidth, and a left over Bitmain power supply from my L3. 2. Will try - Just tried. No luck 3. Will try - Just tried. No luck 4. I've tried both solo.ckpool and pool.ckpool 5. Will try - Just tried. No luck
I guess I'm just surprised that ANY of these settings would prevent cgminer from seeing any chips.

Are you sure you have the WinUSB driver loaded correctly? Recheck it with zadig. What are your lights doing? Sounds like you may need to contact your reseller for some help/suggestions/trouble shooting. Success with Win10 means you can mine. Rarely will it do the 750Ghs stock rate. Also there is no ckpool.org anymore so I don't know what you would have been mining to. Edit: pool.ckpool redirects to the solo pool Edit 2: Here are mstrozier's instructions on how to install on a Pi. They can easily be adapted to a Linux machine too. Also review the instructions on the top post. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5053833.msg50968875#msg50968875

I've installed ubuntu on an old laptop. It was, as expected, a piece of cake, following the directions on page 1. I didn't do anything else after building cgminer.
However, I get exactly the same results. Sounds like a bad device. I assume there isn't any additional tools I can use to see if it's something else.

Just what the light codes might be telling you on the device.
Sounds like you need to contact your supplier.
