Didn't expect thwt Punjab will win the match with freaking 8 wickets in their hand. Bowler selection from Kohli mad the match hard for RCB. Punjab lost last 5 matches but won this match like nothing. Very disappointed with Kohlis captaincy.

Three wrong decision in one match. How would a team expect to win this match. Captaincy from Kohli was nightmare, I would say Kohli had more contribution than any of the player of KXIP to win this match.

1. Sending AB de Villiers at 6. I agree with Pffrt that sending Sundar was okay but sending Dube before de Villiers? Is he a better batsman than de Villiers?

We had a chat, a message from outside about left-right combination and we wanted to go with it because they had two leggies.

Yeah, BS excuse. As if de Villiers can not play leggies. In fact, I do not agree with sending Sundar too. In no way they are better player than de Villiers. it would make sense if de Villiers was off form, struggling to score runs. He is an inform batsman and played a big score in the last match. Having him in the dressing room and both Sundar  and Dube were wasting one after another ball - was a pain to watch. Besides in the middle over there were no aggression from Kohli too. It was like he was playing the balls to take singles.

2. Giving ball to Chahal in the 4th over. Why? You have Sundar who bowled really well in super-overs in last few matches why would you needed Chahal to replace him at that time? I am not saying Chahal is an average bowler or bad bowler. Why would you experiment against an working strategy. Sundar's quickers in the super over are more effective than any other spinners in super over.

3. Not using Udana when he needed to bowl. In the 16th over why would Kohli needed Siraj? Udana had 3 overs left. 16th, 18th, 20th done! KXIP were waiting for Siraj because he is the one who can be used to go big and in that important over Kohli called him instead of Udana! It's like Kholi gave it without any fight that KXIP needed at that time. After giving 20 runs in one over from 46 to 26 runs needed was game over at that time for RCB.

Kohli and RCB teams really need to understand that stupidity does not pay off. A working strategy should remain until it starts failing, you do not over do it with new experiment.

I feel like you are blaming Kohli way too much here since there are lot of variables in IPL Cricket and he didn't expect some of his decisions to backfire, but it happens to  the best of them.

I was confused about ABD being sent in late too, but he could have had his own reasons for coming in late(Bathroom break etc). Also, I think it was the team management's call to send him in late.

I do agree with you about Siraj though. How many more chances will Kohli give him? Also, Punjab almost choked once again. It's like they forget how to play basic Cricket in the final overs. Weird.

Yes I am. He is the captain so blame will go to him obviously. This is what he said after post match interview:

It was quite surprising, we thought the game might finish in the 18th. A bit of pressure at the back end can confuse you, anything can happen in this game. Good performance by KXIP, we were not in the game tonight. [About AB batting at 6] We had a chat, a message from outside about left-right combination and we wanted to go with it because they had two leggies. Sometimes things don't come off. We're pretty happy with the decisions we took, but it didn't come off. Having 170 was a decent score. The idea was to let them [Dube and Sundar] to get their eye in. They bowled well. It's not a great ground for bowlers but that's not an excuse. We take pride in our bowling. tonight it didn't come off and we have to accept it and take responsibility. There's always something to learn to go back and understand. There was no conversation with Chahal to be honest. The only conversation was with the last ball, we wanted him to push it away. Credit to Nicholas.

So pretty sure that it was not bathroom break :-D

I do agree with you about Siraj though. How many more chances will Kohli give him?

How would you explain Chahal's over in the super over when Sundar had very going in other matches in super overs.

. 1 6 . 4 4 helped the batsmen to boost their confidence after having a good over just before that over from Morris. Kohli wanted to stop the rhythm but calling Chahal instead of Sundar was wrong.


Anyway, maybe I am indeed putting too much blame to Kohli, but he does make bad decision and losses matches. Isn't he the captain of Indian T20 team too? It will be interesting to see how he goes when Dhoni is not around.

The inclusion of Chris Gayle worked for KXIP, although they had to demote him to no.3 slot. I am surprised that they are still sticking with Maxwell. I don't understand this obsession with Maxwell. He has failed in every department this season. The inclusion of Chris Morris by RCB was also a welcome step. He is one of the best T20 players available. Another change I would like to see is the inclusion of Sandeep Lamichhane in DC. Also, it will be nice to have either Imran Tahir or Mitchell Santner in the CSK playing XI. BTW, anyone missing Lockie Ferguson in the KKR lineup?

Is there any chance to drop Smith? 

You want to drop one of the best batsmen in the world, just because he had a couple of bad performances? He has scored 163 runs from 8 matches, which is not a bad statistic as far as T20 format is concerned. He scored half century two times, and on both the occasions RR won. Also, he did a decent job with captaining the RR squad, especially with such a young side.

Lol it was joke but it doesn't hurt to explore all the scenario and now you bring it up question of "couple of bad performance" so let's see.

The blame should be leveled to Kohli and the team management for delaying AB de Villiers which did not help the team in any way and i never saw Kohli as a great captain especially in IPL as they always had a good batting unit but never utilized them according to their strengths and the next blunder was giving Mohammed Siraj the 16th over while he should have gone with Udana but i thought Kings XI Punjab messed the match up when they took the match till the last game when they should have finished it in the 18th over.

Congrats to all the 3 winners and this has been  tough round where we had tie among 3 of our participants. Royse777 did made a good comeback in last match as was not in top 2 before yesterday match and jumped well to be the 1 of the winners.

Just saw everyone except 1 till now has went with Mumbai's win for today's match

What a round it was! vishnu got 6 points in the first two matches and became the round topper, in 3rd round, hector didn't give any chance to other but in 4th, there's 3 winners. People are getting improved in predicting matches.
Kartik decided to hand over the captaincy but now, the situation is even worse. Morgan and Russel are trying to get back in the match and they must have to play longer.
Damn, Russel is gone now. Picked MI but can't see KKR to perform such bad.

Excellent move indeed. I expected KKR to play badly against MI since they have been a bit lucky with their recent wins and luck always tends to run out. Also, Smith stepping down could help RR since he could focus primarily on his batting.

Looks like MI are on their way to the playoffs yet again. Amazing consistency. At this rate, it looks like they will face off against DC in the finals.

Yeap, another smooth game for MI. Close to playoffs round. And I think they will made to final also. But not sure about DC. Because KKR has a good history in playoffs round. And also luck favor them maximum time in the late time of IPL. So, they have a good chance to play final if they make it to playoffs first.

This is not threashing win its easy win and five members going with 2 points first time looking Timon leading the table from front hopefully he will keep this place for this round as I was also going with two options easy and comfortable but at the end I have comfortable but its easy so good congrates to all winners.

I thought it was a thrashing win myself to be honest. Happy with the 1 point though. Tomorrow's match is a bit unpredictable.

I bet on RCB because their improvement over time seems to give them the edge over RR though RR themselves are playing well too. I hope Kohli doesn't make any silly captaincy errors this time around.

Coming to the DC vs CSK match, I bet on DC because they are in far better form when compared to CSK who are scrapping by just like SRH.

I guess Smith stepping down was just rumor, can't find any concrete info.

Morgan is successful captain in the limited overs cricket, IMO the best in the business so KKR management and Karthik did good, now he can focus on his batting may be finisher job as Rusell is looking different cricketer in this season.

Folks... Lord Tewatia has done it again. RCB was comfortably chasing the target of 178, with Devdutt Padikkal and Virat Kohli at the crease. Tewatia got both of them dismissed in consecutive deliveries. Padikkal was dismissed of Tewatia's bowling, while he took a brilliant catch to dismiss Kohli. All of a sudden, we have RCB struggling at 103/3 from 103/1.

^^ Judging by scorecard it seems RR once again failed to finish game or it was just pure master class from the AB de Villiers. Gotta feel for poor Unadkat, this guy can't even catch a break. Overall RR did good shuffling with their batting order, Uthappa clicked as opener and Smith did good as well by moving down are good sign, hope its not too late for them.
