One of the modern great Kane Williamson will serve drinks tonight for SRH. Couple of season back he was leading them. Guess Warner is bossing the franchise again, in a good way ofc. Would love to see Kane back in the team but for this SRH batting line up need to fail for at-least couple of game, otherwise 4 overseas restriction going to hurt him as Indian batsmen occupying middle order for good and Warner-Bairstow-Rashid are almost irreplaceable, last spot going to overseas all rounder.

Hate to see fine batsman sitting at dug out and warming the bench, i hope they add 1-2 teams in the IPL soon.

CSK was a very good team, but that was a decade back. And the problem for them is that the same players are still representing the franchise even now.

Decade back? I disagree. Last season was their worst one, but 1 single bad match this season doesn't mean they don't stand a chance against other teams. Underestimating them is absolute stupidity since they are the 2nd most successful franchise overall after MI.

I agree. I guess Bairstow's recent form is the reason why they chose to stick with him instead of Williamson. If Bairstow fails to perform, I guess SRH will bring him back in.

BCCI needs to increase the number of overseas players from 4 to 5. IPL is more like an international tournament now, and it will be unfair to limit the number of overseas players per team to such a small number. Hopefully that will be done once they increase the total number of teams form 8 to 10 (probably next season?). I guess SRH was in a dilemma. They can't drop Warner and Rashid Khan. And the competition was between Jonny Bairstow, Mohammad Nabi and Kane Williamson. Nabi was selected over Williamson, since he is an allrounder.

^^ I don't think that they are going to increase the slots to 5 but yeah couple of extra team could do some some tricks. I was checking the roaster and i felt that nowadays its pretty hard to pick your playing XI for every game, majority of franchise got fine bench strength, guess everything would comes down to combinations and pitch.

National Selectors underestimating Nitish Rana in T-20 format for sure.

Kolkata team was able to give a target of 187 runs in 20 overs. Very good enough collection. KKR's two batsmen Nitish Rana and Rahul Tripathi have batted just awesome. I noticed SRH's bowling. Their two spin bowlers Mohammad Nabi and Rashid Khan have bowled brilliantly. If Shakib and Harbhajan Singh are able to bowl well for KKR today, the result may be in KKR's favor.

Bad start for me(3 losses in a row). Was surprised to see SRH almost win this one. All of their bowlers except for Rashid disappointing me. Bhuvi disappointed me the most.

Rana survived many close calls and produced a match-winning innings along with Tripathi who was on fire. Pandey played well too till the end. I have no idea why SRH decided to bench Williamson.

I have really been impressed with KKR batting tonight; specially Nitish Rana and Tripathi. Did Rana play any t20 international from team India? I guess no. He is very consistent most times and deserves chance in team India.

Congratulations. You predicted all the three games correctly. I can see that Royse and Teosanru are also having 4 points, but they predicted only two out of the three matches correctly. Maintain the lead for another four matches, and you will be left with the reward for winning the first round!!! BTW, best of luck for today's match. I can see that we have made opposing choices for Punjab Kings vs Rajasthan Royals.

Agreed. No individual round awards this time around. Royse clearly stated that there will only be 3 winners overall. The number of participants and rewards are way lower this time around when compared to IPL 2020 pool which makes sense.

Coming to the match, I bet on Punjab and am hoping this will break my losing streak. Rahul and Gayle are destroying RR currently.

@Haunebu and JSRAW, my bad and sorry about that. I guess I wasn't paying enough attention to the rules. You guys are right.. this time we don't have a lot many participants. Last time, if I remember correctly, we had around two dozen. This time even the defending champion refused to join the pool. Anyway, life goes on. Now we can concentrate on the entire tournament, rather than worrying about our standings for each round.

BTW, looks as if I will get 0 points today. Punjab Kings may make 220-230.

Looks like I'll lose the bet today. I placed the bet for Rajasthan Royals wins today. But I didn't think their bowlers would bowl so badly. Every bowler has given a lot more runs today. RR used 8 bowlers in today's match. I have never seen so many bowlers use in an innings. RR has already lost 2 important wickets.

Damn it.
I was almost sure that Punjab Kings is going to win. I had placed bet on Punjab and picked them here too. Who would have thought RR will chase this ton of runs. But now, it seems easy job. Only 11 runs needed from 3 ball and Sanju Samson is on strike.

This was fine game and almost perfect chase, feed bad for Sanju Samson. He batted so beautifully throughout his inning, although he did got 2 lifeline but still impressive knock. Let's see his consistency now. Don't know if denying single on 5th ball was right call or not? Some would say that Chris Morris could very well hit a boundary and that's true but at that moment Sanju was in good touch and striking the ball cleanly.

Pretty disappointing fielding so far in IPL. Players dropping sitter everywhere.

Biggest takeaway from this match is that both RR and Punjab bowlers sucked big-time due to which their prospects of winning the cup this season fall sharply in my opinion.

His strike rate was 190+ at that time, he was set for good. On the other hand Morris only faced 4 balls and scored only 2 runs with 2 dot balls. so it was set batsman responsibility to play all the balls in the end and get his team out of the line and that's what Sanju did. He failed but he tried his best, no complain from my side.

I'm thinking what if selectors support Sanju like they did with KL Rahul and Pandaya, i mean long rope despite his consistency drama? Would be ideal if he can produce 4-5 more innings in this IPL, then he could cement his place in the upcoming T-20 WC squad for sure.

For the wicket keeper batsman role, already KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant is there and Sanju is the third choice. And although he has performed well in the IPL, his performance in the international scene is not up to the mark. Also, a number of competitors are in reckoning, such as Ishan Kishan. So unless Samson performs exceptionally well for the remainder of this year's IPL, I don't think that the selectors will include him in the squad for the T20 World Cup.

Pant got so many opportunities because the slot of wicket keeper batsman was vacant at that time. He performed well and became the regular of the squad. On top of that, he got the support from Virat Kohli and damaadji. Samson doesn't enjoy the same level of support. He plays for a minor domestic side (unlike Pant, who plays for Delhi) and he couldn't make use of the limited opportunities he got so far. But right now, I don't see an opening for Samson. Pant seems to have cemented his place in the playing XI.
