Incredible comeback for Greece yesterday. They were behind the score in the beginning of the match but they managed to win with 2-1 score.
The players perform better after the new manager arrived, and the reforms that he made seem to be efficient. It is sad that they disqualified early as they would have chances in qualifying if they had played like this earlier.

Italy scored 9 goals yesterday, which puts them at 37 in 10 matches - almost 4 goals scored per game.
Impressive, I watched them a few times and they look good. They have that aura of champions again.

I watched the Sweden - Faroe Islands match last night. I must say despite the 3 goals it was quite a boring match. The home team kept possession but not a lot of action in this one. Sweden being sure of qualification made 10 changes to their team. Several players represented their national team for the first time. Great goal by Guidetti for 3:0. Following a corner he banged in a very powerful header off the bar. His header was stronger than some regular shots I've seen.

I think that Belgium did the same record in this qualification round.
If I am not wrong both teams managed to end the round with an average of 4 goals scored per game which shows the difference in their quality compared to the other teams in the group.

They have to score 3 vs Cyprus today to match Italy's score.
Belgium is already one of the top teams, Italy was slowly declining. That is why I specifically mentioned Italy because it seems they are on the rise again.

Who knows how Pele would have played against van Dijk, or if he even could? Who knows how Messi might have fared against those tough-tackling defenders from 20/30 years ago? We didn't have the dark arts of Ramos then, but we had the literal bone breaking hard men. The Terminator, or the ball-busting (literally!) Vinnie Jones?

I am comparing them based on the clips we have from Pele and others from those times and the way the game looked and was played back then. The quality back then and the one we see in modern times is incomparable, at least to me.

I agree that football from 40-50 years ago and today is very different, and it's very difficult to compare it.
The same goes for players then and now.
If we asked people then and now, everyone would have different favorites for the best players.
There was a lot less money in football before and more play for prestige.
Now is everything about money and statistics and Internet is everything.
Everyone has fitness coaches, nutritionists and everything has become an industry.
Before players was alone and simple played football   
I'm sorry that this era of football romance will never come back and that clubs like Crvena Zvezda, Steaua, Nottingham Forest will never again become European champions.
Money is everything today.
Fortunately, when national teams playing, it's still possible for a small country as a Croatian to play the World Cup finals and that is why I like to watch the national team.
In the national team, the heart is still more important than money and that's why I believe that Croatia still has a great chance in EURO next year, no matter again very strong Italy, England, France and the Netherlands who also returned.

I have a treble combining Wales, Scotland and Germany vs Northern Ireland.

Wales and Scotland to win and in the Germany vs Northern Ireland match I have over 1.5 goals. I wanted to have Belgium and Netherlands in my selections but the odd for these two teams are so annoying that I decided not to go with them LOL

Does anyone know why some groups had more teams in it and others didn't? I mean I can understand the reason of "not enough teams to fill all the groups" but there has been some nations missing as well so I don't know if that is the case.

Germany will be going to euro 2020 for sure and guaranteed long ago but recently they said they won't go to world cup 2022 and we should be watching them closely because this will be the last cup we see them for years. You think everyone should join them and boycott?

This uefa stuff that has been going around has been too long and they have been making BILLIONS of dollars for basically just running couple tournaments every single year, literally anyone can do it if teams and nations agree on it, they could dissolve uefa and could get a better new organization that is not shady and there are tons of people who could invest such a new system.

Regarding Wales-Hungary, both teams really need win to finish 2nd. Slovakia will most likely beat Azerbaijan, and in that will get them to 13 points. In case that Wales and Hungary draw, Slovakia will be 2nd as even though they will have same amount of points as Hungary(13), as Slovakia beat Hungary both times.

There are 55 national teams in this Euro qualifications, so i guess what they could do is make 11 groups with 5 teams each, but imho that is not a deal breaker. First time i hear this about Germany and Quatar 2022 boycott. I mean it is evident that FIFA and UEFA are deeply corrupted organizations, but i seriously doubt that Germany  will boycott that, as they wouldn't accomplish much with it. Only way to change something is if majority of team decide to boycott, but i don't see it happening either.
So this status quo will simply go on, too much money  is going around..

Thank you. I do hope none of the selection go wrong however I have this experience all the time that in my multi selection I am too close to win and one team will cause the lose ultimately. Hopefully it will not repeat today as well 😜

I used to smoke before a football match and I was playing in an amateur league (but in a formal FA league that we actually got as far as a semifinal in a league cup once, cup winner actually go into a loooooong playoff qualification to enter AFC champions league so haha, those were the days!

Latvia - hell no mate. They scored just 2 goals in whole tournament (one of these was own goal).

I don't know any nations missing in qualifiers.
And Germany, neither other countries aren't going to boycott World Cup, it's just speculation. Same like nobody boycoted World Cup in Russia.
