England - Croatia is another interesting game in Round 1. It is going to be played in Wembley and there are going to be limited number of supporters (max 22500). And the game is this Sunday. England are the overwhelming team here of course. I see Croatia as away from their old performance. But who knows, maybe they can make a much greater effort in this tournament. But I think that England will manage to beat them with a 1 or 2-goal difference.

England is one of the most highly rated teams, in bookmakers, to win the competition.
The first game will show whether it is like this or not.

England and Croatia are the two team that are likely to qualify next among the 4 team in Group D. I believe the match will not be easy for these two team and maybe I will think that the result will be a draw. These two won't be named as favourite, I guess they have the same strength.

It was yet another bad performance from Croatia, toothless in attack and in panic mode whenever there's a cross coming into our box. I'm really not confident we'll even pass the group playing like this.

And it is more than obvious that some old players cannot be replaced so easily - and above all I mean Mandzukic who was definitely a class above the strikers we have now. You can't beat anyone if you don't score goals, which is the biggest lack that Croatia currently has - with of course a defense that is not coordinated and often seems panicky.

I don't think it's so unattainable to pass the group, because it would be enough to achieve one victory and two draws for that goal - and regardless of England being the big favorite, they didn't show impressive football in the preliminaries either - a 1-0 victory against Austria and Romania - while Scotland scarcely defeated mighty Luxembourg with great difficulty (0-1).

Far from looking as good as in Russia, but it is no longer the same team, and we should all be aware of that.

I would not count out the veterans playing in this tournament so soon,,, I do agree when you see teams like England full of young players, and a slower team like Croatia, you fear for them. But do not forget in these short and KO rounds,,, energy is not all you need but experience. The problem though is as cryptofrka mentions the panic when cross comes in. That is supposed to be something pros do not fear at all and reminds me of my supposedly experienced team I support;)

I was noticing that booking.com has been able to sponsor Euro 2020, how is that even possible? They must have had massive losses due to the pandemic, where did they get the money from?

Booking earns money in the local market too. Although travel between countries is almost at a standstill, internally people continue to make some trips.

Also, during the last year the money they had earmarked for marketing has not been spent, as everything has stopped.

But the most important thing is that these sponsorships were already planned and certainly paid for before Covid. Therefore, the sponsors remain the same as they were planned.

Definitely. Davor Suker remains Croatia's all-time leading scorer, but Mandzukic was undoubtedly the nation's second-best scorer after him. In terms of the quality of the players as a whole, I would even give him an edge over Suker, and Croatia's young strikers will have a tough time filling those shoes.

Getting back to EURO 2020, I think Croatia will play a lot better when the tournament starts. Let's not forget Russia. Croatia failed to demonstrate the right level of quality before the tournament, lost to Peru and Brazil, and gained only minimal advantages over Mexico and Senegal.

This is a Balkan mentality after all - nothing is serious until it becomes too serious.

That's true, but I don't really know about the news or rumors circulating but indeed, Mandzukic and Modric are seniors in the team so their presence will be good for every game. I don't know why Mandzukic was not included in this year's EURO squad, if Mandzukic was still playing for the national team now it might be his last chance to play for the national team, considering that he is already at retirement age.

Ibrahimovic also left the national team at one day and no one kept him, although he could still play for the national team not one year. Also it was the 100th Game for Manuel Neuer as goalkeeper in the german National Team .

I know we all hate Šuker but it should not cloud our judgment. I even disliked him when he played but he was a class apart from Mandžukić.

He was pure quality, Mandžukić was a workhorse. And no, we really do not need him - he could not even score in Qatar anymore.

The match against France on June 16 will be a real test for the German team whether or not it is worthy or not to be a candidate for this Euro 2020.

In my opinion, the result of the match between Germany and Latvia cannot be used as a benchmark to say if the German team is playing well at the moment, because Latvia is a team that does have a fairly far level compared to Germany which is currently ranked 13th in FIFA. The match against France on June 16 will be a real test for the German team whether or not it is worthy or not to be a candidate for this Euro 2020.

Many qualifying matches with big score wins, I think a team has indeed found the right squad to look forward to in the June 12 round which will start and this is what we have to see who is great.
But I see Group F as a hell of a group because they have to meet Germany, France and Portugal as a great team. From here they also have to be able to fight to qualify and indeed that is not a benchmark, but I believe Germany can get through with the first phase.

It is great that the matches will be held in 12 different cities. If this was in a single country, maybe it would be safer since we are in the process of pandemic. However, I still think that the cities taking part in this championship will be completely safe. I think Italy will beat Turkey in the first match.

Of the three, I think Germany is the most streamlined. It's the one that will have to work harder to get through the group stage.
Portugal and France have a better chance of passing. But Germany is Germany, it can always surprise.

For sure it is not a Benchmark and thats not what a i meant , but it has shown that they playing better together as on the last game they have played.
The match against France will be not a test , it is already the keygame for both teams in this Group.
Who will win this game has for sure some advantages for the next game and games .
