I've been following Man City's history (at least since Pep has been coach) and what I've learned from it is that in the important CL games ManCity has always failed. That is also a reason why they have not won the CL so far. And in my opinion, that was largely due to Pep Guariola. By the way, the same thing happened at Bayern Munich when he was eliminated three times in a row in the semifinals of the CL. The Bayern coaches before and after him have won the CL with Bayern, however. This clearly shows a pattern and if Pep does not change this, he will not win the CL this year either. Manchester City must have learnt from their mistakes obviously but even at that I can see many strong teams in the Champions League. So whether they learnt from their mistake or not there are strong teams available whose eyes are on the Champions League Cup. Teams like Bayern Munich, Liverpool, Manchester City , Real Madrid, Chelsea and others. It will be so interesting this time around. Meanwhile Manchester City will qualify for this present round at least.

the most important thing now for Chelsea is to keep winning. The first leg playing at home will certainly be more energy for Chelsea. although it was difficult Chelsea had to get the winning goal. and I hope in the second leg they don't play defensively to stem Real Madrid. instead of aiming for a draw.
Madrid with Benzema's recovery can certainly damage Chelsea's defense and midfield dominance. they have to be careful.

Today both Real and Chelsea played games in economy mode (at least it can be assumed) but Real won and Chelsea lost big. I think now the plans for the upcoming match will be adjusted and Chelsea will think more about defense, and Real about attack - maybe now it is Real that will think about getting an advantage in the first match and not defending a draw.

We have only three days for the first two games to be underway. On the first day of the quarter finals, there are games like Benfica - Liverpool and Manchester City - Atletico Madrid. I see a solid victory for Liverpool in this game. Benfica eliminated Ajax but I don't see their chance as high against Liverpool just as it wasn't against Ajax as well. Liverpool would finish the job in the first leg. And the other game would be more competitive maybe. But I still expect Manchester City to take full control of the game earlier and defeat Atletico Madrid.

Anyway, how strong Atletico's defense is still doesn't guarantee Atletico will get clean sheets so yes, with a situation like this it's not a guarantee that Manchester City will win either. Because when Manchester City is faced with a strong defense, City players will get pressure and this makes them a dead end. Obviously ATM defense wouldn't matter, this is City we are talking about and their offense is just like butter, it goes so smooth. I do not think that you could lay back, wait for them to come and defend with like 8 people and hope that they wouldn't score. That tactic could work for some other teams but City has been dealing with that for 5 years now, everyone does that to them in premier league because 90% of the teams do not think that they can beat City so they go for at least 0-0 and that what we see in ATM as a tactic as well. They will try that here too, but City is too used to breaking that to pieces and will destroy them for sure.

They must already improve their capability both players' quality and mentality to avoid the same mistake as the previous UCL season. Don't forget that their head coach is Pep Guardiola, one of the smartest coaches ever. I think they can reach the final stage and probably win the UCL trophy this season. They have a good squad and most of the players are healthy, without injury issues. In the current stage, Atletico Madrid should be a weaker team compared with Manchester City. So, there is no reason that Manchester City to be eliminated at this stage.

I actually think that the one who has the potential to become champions in the UCL this season is Liverpool. man city is indeed a very strong team and champion candidates but they will definitely be eliminated (perhaps when facing ATM).

It's quite a shock that Pep Guardiola is yet to win the Champions League again since leaving Barcelona probably he needs Messi and players who can be on the level of Xavi/ Iniesta to able to win the competition again. I think this Manchester City team isn't bad, just probably he needs a prolific striker but nonetheless that team is capable of winning any team in Europe. Guardiola will need to look into his adamant approach to games and do something about that because there's no Messi/Iniesta that can produce a moment of magic for him in this City side.

Villarreal - Bayern Munich game might end up with an unexpected result. Because it is not in Allianz Arena and Villarreal are a solid team as for their defense. Bayern Munich should get ready for a tougher matchup after the Salzburg one. Maybe Bayern Munich will still succeed in eliminating Villarreal on aggregate but the players might be worn out by a solid defense line especially in the first leg. I think the first leg will be ending in a draw by 1-1. And there might be a slight chance for Villarreal to win by a one-goal difference too but this would be a really surprising result.

I disagree, they can be "trusted" in Champions League matches, they play quite well within that framework. You just have to understand that in Champions League matches they are no longer playing against epl teams, but against teams from other leagues and they have to change their style of play or the opponent forces them to do so leaving no other options for the Citizens. Either way, there is always a stronger team, which is why they cannot win the league

Manchester City is one of the favorites at the beginning of this season to win the UEFA champion's league but this stage they have Atletico Madrid on their way. Diego Simeone and Pep Guardiola have history together both as a player and a coach, they always been rivals. I think if Manchester City can beat them then they would have cancel the doubts I have about them because this is truly their first big test.

Many people must be thinking about whether Chelsea can make it to the title once again. I also am a little curious about it actually but I don't want to believe that they can even eliminate Real Madrid. I don't see the same Chelsea now. I'm aware of the fact that Chelsea will be focusing on the Champions League more than the EPL now. But I don't see the same light in them this time. If they somehow manage to eliminate Real Madrid, then I might start to feel that again.

You are right Chelsea is no longer as strong a team as they were last season. But is the Real Madrid team too strong? We know their squad players are experienced. Their coach is experienced. But they still rely on Benzema to win the match. The Chelsea team may have been a bit weak. But the situation in Real Madrid is not good. Real Madrid will not be able to win against Chelsea without Benzema scoring a goal.

Benzema is literally carrying Real Madrid over his shoulders now. It is a sure thing. But they are not playing bad as a team too. I see a significant difference between their performance now and the one in the last season. Ancelotti has started to make this difference and his influence on the team is really big now. And Real Madrid have a huge history in the Champions League. They eliminated PSG like that thanks to their being an experienced team in this tournament. Chelsea are another experienced team maybe but this time might be different.

Liverpool and Man City's performances were very good when they beat their respective opponents in the Premier League, they managed to beat their
opponent quite convincingly. Liverpool and Man City's victories are very important to increase their confidence to be better prepared to play
in the Champions League. For Liverpool it looks like they can beat Benfica easily, the problem is that Man City will not easily beat Atletico.
We know that Atletico's performance has been consistent in La Liga and also that Atletico will play defensively against Man City who are better
quality than them. Man City must be careful with the counter-attack of Atletico's players who have a dangerous front line, but as long as Man City
can show their best game, Man City should be able to beat Atletico.

Regarding Chelsea, I was surprised that they were beaten by Brentford with  a big enough score. whereas Chelsea play at home and are strengthened
by the majority of their main players. Chelsea's defeat of course benefited Real Madrid, which had just beat Celta. Because like you said Chelsea will
definitely lose their confidence a bit with the defeat to Brentford. Meanwhile, Real Madrid are much more prepared to face Chelsea, even though

I don't underestimate this team, but their performance this season seems not really promising to defeat a strong EPL team like Man City.
