It's said that they've done already a meeting and they shall conduct assessment on what's their next step. I think there will be a bubble setup soon just to continue this current conference. They have no choice but to move onto those places that aren't in alert level 3. That's the best possible decision that they can make and the worst is to stop and cancel the whole conference. But they've done a solution during the hard lock down days and with the current alert level, they can still move but with proper adjustment and approval still from the IATF.
They will be making their last option now, which is a bubble. Well, it's not new to them as they have already did that in the past seasons, so I expect that they'll be able to do it effectively and the conference will resume soon. I'm sure imports will be okay with that as long as they can play as the teams are playing them and they also know the current situation. Do you have any prediction what month they'll resume? They should make a decision before this weekend. Although we're to the end of this month, still, the other players might have their own options and their times are moving, the imports probably have their own commitments too outside PBA although they've signed a contract. But the thing is, time is running out for them and as well as for the management. I don't have any prediction when they'll be back but just like last year, it took them to get back and to adjust and that's because there's no plan B, Kume should have the plan b before this conference has started.

If possible, better for him to go back to Aces. He can play his role well and the system is no longer new to him. It won't take long for him to adopt.
The question is will Phoenix allow him and who will be his replacement, who's player in his same value Aces may let go. Still lots of question behind
and the only thing now is to wait if this rumor is true and if his camp already talking to other management and dealing behind doors.
With this new rule in effect (Unrestricted Free Agent), any players could chose which team he wanted to play as long as that team is willing to make an offer to him. So in the case of Banchero, if he wanted to leave Phoenix, just wait for his contract to expire and post an intent on social media that he want to play for a certain team so that team will be aware of his situation. With this new rule, who do you think wins on this one, the team or the players? Could it bring more balance to the league? This will be good for both side since the team will not pay that much to the players and players can go to other teams easily if there’s a good offer to him, so I find this one as a balance to the league. Banchero will decide for his future, having a great team is a big thing let’s see this rumor if its true or not, we’ll find out.

Well maybe they don't will not think about to cut the salary of the player who have intention to play at their team knowing that there are big leagues scouting the players to join on them so I think this action was made by PBA management so that they can encourage players not to leave and select what team he's comfortable to play with. Anyways let see if this is good initiative knowing there are only few teams in PBA.

He was not able to adapt with the Magnolia that's why he was traded to the Phoenix.. well, maybe because Magnolia would choose to get Abueva and send some of their players. The thing is, Banchero will never be the main man in a team, he is always a supporting cast only.
If I remember it right, during that trade, Abueva at that time already agrees to a deal with Phoenix. That was a whopping Php 15,000,000 max contract for 3 years. There's no plan of trading Banchero on Magnolia's side but things were changed. However, it's no secret that Phoenix hits really hard during pandemic and I think I shared an article here related to that where they are about to attempt to sell the company or something along those lines. Moving forward, to somehow balance the cost of operation, Phoenix made a deal right away with Magnolia. Generally, Banchero was traded not because of whether he is fit for Magnolia or not.

Wait new rule? I'm not aware of this. Is Unrestricted Free Agent are not in PBA terms? I thought there is but not just used mostly. But Banchero should not opt-out of that if he's not sure that there are teams who are interested in signing him. I mean he's not a consistent cager but confident that the preferred team will sign him right away. Any mentioned teams he wants to be signed with?

He and he's manager needs to settle that first before he opt out his contract, just like bisdak said as long as the team he wanted to sign is interested to make an offer it will be an advantage to every player, I'm not aware of this rule but personally I can say that player can take this one as an advantage. Anyone knows the ground with this rule? I mean, what if player/manager discuss things even the player still has his contract from other team, are there any restrictions?

Banchero maybe not be happy with his role with his current team. Looking for a new team might help him show his full potential, we know that he is good and his best season was when he was still playing with the Alaska Aces. Not sure if it's possible, but if there's a case he will be back, maybe he will be a big help to the team as they need a good point guard. That rumors might be true, since we saw his performance with Phoenix and I can really say that he is not that good with that team, I think he can't go back to Aces anymore since he was there already but still depend to Alaska if they still see potential with Banchero. His next team will be hard to find for sure especially on a season like this, other teams cut some of its budget and they might not afford to pay Banchero, hoping for him to find a better team so he can work on his true potential. If he wants his full potential to be shown and he wants more minutes to do that, put him in the team where they are always at last position. Blackwater might be the best choice for him. His performance when he is in the Aces is his best in his career. Seeing the roster of Phoenix right now and I don't think that they have any guard that matches Banchero so if he will leaves, its effects will be felt immediately unless they will get a more reliable point guard. Just put him back on the Aces maybe or put him in Blackwater if he doesn't want to be there anymore .

Blackwater is the worst team in the league, even if he will lead the team people will still not gonna notice him because he is playing with a very bad team. What he wants is to be in a good team where he can also use his talent and maximize it, that's what I understand.

While waiting for the PBA to resume, let me share with you some great news. This : Matt Ganuelas Rosser signs with TNT after declining Terrafirma offerI almost forgot this guy. I'm happy that he found a good team again, he will be a great addition to the TNT as his talent is exceptional in terms of defense. so hopefully he is still at his prime so he can contribute to the success of the team.

Wait new rule? I'm not aware of this. Is Unrestricted Free Agent are not in PBA terms? I thought there is but not just used mostly. Before it is "Restricted Free Agent", the mother team has always the rights to sign the players if the contract of that players expires unless they want to trade him. But this rule is in effect only on the players drafted in the year 2014 if i'm not mistaken. Let's take the case of Rodney Brondial, the Aces has offered him a two-year contract after his contract expired but he declined the offer and signed with SMB. Maybe the offer of SMB is lesser but the opportunity to play for the championship is high thus the bonus awaits hehe.

Yeah, the surge is making things disable again. I've seen some news that it would likely be by February they're going to resume the league. But this is all due to the unexpected turn of events due to the Omicron virus. But hopefully this time, Marcial and his gang should start thinking always of a plan b for unwanted events to come while they're rolling the league. They should be the wiser people around as they're the ones that are making decisions for the pursuant of PBA.

Chances for lock down to go back again as the number is rapidly increasing so I think they struggle to go back live if they want to pursue a normal format with fans watching at the Dome so I guess the bubble which they do before is the ideal thing than waiting for unsure things. For sure the management already thought about that but they are just waiting for the updates of IATF since this will cost a lot of them if they cannot resume back the league immediately.

They can be back but only in a bubble format. We have experienced the lockdown before, even worst than the current implementation but they were successful with running a PBA season. They learn from that success already so they can replicate it and continue the pending conference.

As far as I browse some news, the recent one is, Marcial is just waiting until the end of the month before pushing the bubble setup in February. Actually, IATF is the one that gives a late update on the league. GAB allows the PBA to operate but it should be on the area under Alert Level 2. I think by February, the league will resume. But I also read just recently while browsing the web that there's a possibility that the Governor's Cup will resume but imports won't be present as they are about to go home on their respective schedule. I will try to find that link.

With this new rule in effect (Unrestricted Free Agent), any players could chose which team he wanted to play as long as that team is willing to make an offer to him.
Thank you for the information. If we take the example of Rodney Brondial, that was the same as the terms under Unrestricted Free Agent in the NBA. Nah ok let's stop the confusion But yes, I agree with the last part of the statement, SMB even offers a lowered contract to him, has the chance of getting a championship compared to playing with Alaska that needs a big revamp to compete in the league.

They can be back but only in a bubble format. We have experienced the lockdown before, even worst than the current implementation but they were successful with running a PBA season. They learn from that success already so they can replicate it and continue the pending conference.
I understand why PBA is taking too long to decide and wants to set a deadline before implementing a bubble. We can't say if the number of cases will be lessened in a few days or weeks to go and that's the basis of PBA before continuing. If the number of cases will be lessened and the preparation for the bubble is now commencing, it's like they are spending not wisely with the money since it only takes a few days more monitoring the situation then Manila might go back again into Alert Level 2. Even with 30,000+ cases every day, the good news is, 98.3% of those are mild and asymptomatic.

PBA needs to wait for the IATF report/approval. They can go and continue using the bubble setup, but they need to make sure the location is safe. Maybe that's part of the reason why Comm. Marcial is waiting till the end of this month. They are trying to make sure that the venue will not be infected and they will get all the approval from the government for them to safely facilitate and continue the remaining games from this season..

Even with 30,000+ cases every day, the good news is, 98.3% of those are mild and asymptomatic. Even though the spread rate of Omicron Variant is faster than that of Delta, the severity of the virus is lower compare to Delta. With the low severity of Omicron, the doctors are just advising those positive patients to do home quarantine and isolate themselves because they can recover even though they are just at their homes. Its been almost 3 weeks since the PBA suspended their games and I think its they will make a decision once the number of cases in the NCR will lessen which is I think starting to go down already but still at 5 digits. With regards to NCR going back to Alert Level 2, I think it will take few more weeks before it happen. Number of cases will stay at around 20,000-30,000 for quite some time before it goes down. Just right now after 2 days of around 20,000+ cases, we got at around 30,000+ cases again. This just shows that the number of cases can increase significantly at one day then decrease significantly at another. I just hope that the PBA will come up with the best solution possible.

I just encountered the news that aside from the Magnolia Coach Chito Victolero, Phoenix Head Coach Topex Robinson was also being offered as an assistant coach for the Japan B-League.
And they disclosed the salary of an assistant coach in the Japan B-league which is $5,000 to $6,000 per month. Much higher to his salary as a Head Coach in Phoenix which is Php 200,000 a month which is around $3,900 as of the latest currency exchange rate.
Too tempting and this will be a hard decision for Coach Topex.
