Weird, I thought when people objected to federal government overreach via the local school systems, that made them Republicans unwilling to fund education. At least I remember some one saying that... I forget who. How could you be against funding education!?

I'm sorry your school failed to teach you English. Please try again with more focus on what you actually want to say and less drama, maybe that'll make it more comprehensible.

Tecshare is pretty smart and articulate, it's just the TDS that makes him seem like a retard unless you are a level 3 (life pledge) or higher MagaBoi.

Keeping schools closed is much more harmful to kids than it is protecting them from the virus. Schools in Europe have reopened without flareups in schools, and many students were outright not participating in school activities when children were sent home in March. There have been studies that suggest students received "roughly 70% of learning gains in reading relative to a typical school year, and less than 50% in math" in the last school year.

It's a big country. There are places where it's safe to open schools and there are places where it isn't. The federal government threatening schools is bullshit. Our district has 3 different plans (full capacity, half capacity alternating days, online only) and I have a lot more faith that they'll pick the most suitable option than the federal nutjobs deciding what's good for all schools while trying to appease their base in an election year.

Most school districts have similar possible plans as you describe. The opening of schools has been politicized. It will be very difficult for many people to return to work if their children are not expected to be at school every other day (or not at all). If a parent has two+ children, they may have one child each day that is not expected to be at school that day.

Schools have opened 5 days a week throughout Europe without outbreaks in schools, and various studies have shown that children neither spread the virus amonst each other, nor to adults very much; infections among children are primarily from adults to children.

If the schools are closed, it will be less likely the economy will be strong, which is Trump strongest argument for re-election. Schools being closed is not about children's safety, it is about politics.

I don't know what you mean by "Europe" but in sane countries like Germany the reopening is clearly predicated on infection rates being low enough to do it safely.

Pretending that we can reopen the same way is asinine. Trump dug this hole himself and he still thinks he can bluff his way out of it.

Choose to believe what you want to believe! The problem of other minds is a tricky one to resolve but a skeptical approach is a very pragmatic one.

No one: not even yourself. The skeptic's journey is a difficult one, and he has to reject the illustrious appeal of nihilistic degeneracy. Read from everyone, then judge as objectively as possible with the inherent and implicit biases that we subject our thoughts to.

I don't trust China either. Quicksy brought up Europe and I think most countries in Europe are not communist dictatorships and provide reasonably verifiable data. It would also be quite ridiculous to hold them as an example of how to reopen schools but dismiss their underlying data.

Al Trump's fault.. He tried spreading it in china and it backfired on the USA worse than any other country..

I don't know about hanging, seems a bit harsh Smiley

But one of the reasons why the US is being hit so hard is federal government's response (or lack thereof) to the virus threat and that's primarily Trump's responsibility.

He fully thought the virus was a "hoax" up until the stock market crashed. Then he saw the impact that had on his ratings and switched from praising China for their response to fully blaming them for everything. Its ridiculous how obvious it is that he doesn't give a shit about anything other than himself, but he's great at owning the libs, so he'll always have a core group of supporters.

Well, since you're begging for Trump to pretend that he's handling the crisis, here you go:

https://www.cnn.com/2020/07/17/politics/trump-coronavirus-briefings/index.html

Quote
As polls show Americans souring on Trump's handling of the public health crisis, his aides have begun to weigh plans to put him back in front of the administration's response, including the potential of resuming the type of near-daily update that marked the first stage of the outbreak, people familiar with the plans say.

Brilliant idea to let the stable genius to dispense advice in these uncertain times. How else would we find out if we should microwave the virus or maybe try to suffocate or starve it.

@suchmoon in my personal opinion the federal government should not force the schools to reopen unless the area they’re in has very less cases, because children’s can act as carriers and spread this virus ahead. Furthermore I also acknowledge that online studies is difficult for the students, because they’re not used to staring at the computer screen for so many hours, but these are extraordinary circumstances and they should learn to adapt.

Pop quiz: which communist dictatorship has been recently using masked camouflaged unidentifiable "law enforcement" agents to arrest people exercising their free speech rights and take them away in unmarked vehicles?

Well, if disliking Trump means communist dictatorship them I'm a communist dictator but let's say Europe is as bad as you think it is... then surely we shouldn't be following their example on school reopening.

In the early stages, Trump refused to take the COVID-19 threat seriously even though US governmental advisers were forecasting major problems, that cannot be denied.

When things went wrong he changed his tune and started blaming China, the WHO and anybody he could point a finger at but himself.

When things went wrong he changed his tune and started blaming China, the WHO and anybody he could point a finger at but himself.

In the early stages china and their pet the WHO covered up as much as they could..
China dissapeared all sorts of people who were trying to blow the whistle, and even shut down labs trying sequence the new virus..

No human to human transmission..  Only people that ate bats from the wuhan wet market (next to their level 4 biolab) could have got it..
Don't remember?

Pop quiz: which communist dictatorship has been recently using masked camouflaged unidentifiable "law enforcement" agents to arrest people exercising their free speech rights and take them away in unmarked vehicles?

Should have been arresting those people causing destruction a long time ago..

You've never been pulled over by an unmarked car? Never had snitches wearing wires try to entrap you?
I've had my house watched by an unmarked narcotics team vehicle for a couple weeks, new black chevy minivan, dude with binoculars and recording equipment, but I kept sending the random girls over to it to ask them what they were doing, $5 a pop, and they eventually gave up and didn't come back with their van..

They weren't after me, but they thought they were..
They eventually nailed me, but not for what they were looking for or any kinds of drugs, just any excuse to swarm my house and find something to arrest us for.. One time they even brought ladders and climbed over my tall fence and said they were going to shoot my dogs if we all didn't come out.. Guns out..

They have beat my ass countless times, slammed me around, broke a few pairs of my glasses, forced blood draws, tased me twice leaving scars, been strapped down many times, charged me with all sorts of crazy shit that didn't stick but it sure is scary thinking you are gone for good this time if they get their way.. Prolly have ptsd from their bogus charges alone..
No wonder I don't much like the government.. They ruined my life I had, and it was pretty good..
I guess that's what happens when one of your ex best friends turns into a junkie heroin dealer and they think it's you..

Defund the police sounds dandy to me, but not for their cause..
Anyone who thinks it's only the blacks that get messed with are smoking crack..

Right, that's what proper law enforcement in a civilized country would do. But wannabe dictatorships would send border patrol (LOL) to sneak up on protestors and bag them.

You've never been pulled over by an unmarked car?

I have, but it didn't make me wish it on anyone even though it was for a good reason.

[...]

I'm sorry you had to go through this. I've had some trouble with authorities but not even close to that.
