Thanks for the link...this is what we need to begin with Qora. Qora has the API document but not much in terms of math and overall theory behind qora...it's really not for Qora to write a whitepaper now imo...Qora is busy writing code (far better for development)...the product is what tells me Qora is a quality product. Yes a few bugs but it's high quality; bugs can be worked out.
A paper from a technical member of the Qora community who can interview Qora and write a "gray" paper is the best solution if the community sees this as critical.
I support some of the obfuscated code be released for review. Why is this a problem?
The voting platform is very important and as a community has great advantages to moving forward. Qora once mentioned that vote "weight" or number of votes will be equivalent to the voter's account balance of which he/she votes. Voting can be as simple as yes/no or have many options I suspect.
Some ideas to vote on based on the op:
1. Bounties: Vote on priorities for bounties and what exactly to develop next (outside of Qora's priority list)
2. Guaranteed Features - these are awesome features and qora has/will do well to implement these, maybe we can vote on the priority?
Ed25519 DSA to verify and sign messages.
done!1-5 minute block time depending on the network activity.
done!Retargeting every 10 blocks.
done!Password protected wallets that can be recovered/generated from seeds.
done!New Proof-of-Stake algorithm.
done! BUT Vote on release of code for review A JSON RPC API to directly communicate with the client.
done!Naming Service:
done!Voting System: Allows voting inside the client to make community decisions such as which feature will be implemented next.
in progress - this week!Colored Coins/Assets. not yet done
Arbitrary Transactions: a simple feature which allows users to send any payload they want over the network.
done! This can be used by third-parties to build additional features on top of Qora (data storage, chat).
for community to doTransaction Boosting: higher transaction processing speed by not having to broadcast the transactions to the whole network. not yet done
3. Possible Features - also a
BIG category to vote on...which of these should the community suggest for qora to implement first. Qora will have to agree obviously no matter what the community votes.
Anonymous transactions/Zerocoin One of the biggest problems of Bitcoin is of course that every transaction is traceable.
Currently Zerocoin is the most promising project which is trying to solve that problem in a decentralized way.
Cross Blockchain trading
Finite Blockchain/Blockchain shrinking
4. Exchange - Vote which exchange to swarm next for adding qora. If established which exchange, we can be more effective.
5. Resources/Community - IMO it is very important is to vote whether the community agrees to have someone "review the code" at least in bits...Qora may not agree to this, and I think most of the community already want this, but if we vote that we believe strongly that this is good for qora, Qora can at least see our interests.
As far as I know, the Qora voting system will not be...one account, one vote or even...one seed, one vote. This is a severe limitation of digital voting...anyone can open as many accounts/seeds as they want and vote as many times as they want if this were the format. It seems that "weight", as Qora mentioned, is the best way to work around the multi-voting limitation but it's not the most ideal...this really favors original stakeholders who carry the majority of coins. None-the-less, weight is probably the best solution. It is better than say TAC where you "buy" votes and the fee goes to the genesis (although in a way, Qora vote is "bought" votes in effect).
Another aspect of voting is accountability to implement decisions made. Anyone can start a vote ..ie the best beer is a) Guinness b) Hoegaarden c) Budwiser...but the most important votes are what matter: what feature Qora will implement next, community development fund decisions, how to deal with other tasks in our development global plan, etc. These will be voted for and I think we will begin to see a "POS democracy" take effect.
As qora grows, we will certainly need a forum to deal with the up coming topics..."Qora Chat" is okay but I suggest for seamless adoption, we design a Qora reddit and/or a Simple Machines forum, similar to the many out there..like the one we are on now...or NHZ has a good one.
http://forum.nhzcrypto.org/index.php I can work on this in 3 weeks as I am traveling soon but if someone can take this one now, the better...Dzarmush (where is he) do we have development funds for this?
TLDR:
1. Voting seems to favor original stakeholders.
2. Important voting may focus on optional Qora features and how to use development funds.
3. Will we keep pushing Qora for someone to "review the code" by voting and will Qora agree?
4. We will need an additional forum as Qora grows. I will do it in 3 weeks when I return from traveling if no one can do it soon.
5. Where is Dzarmush - what's status of dev funds?
