wtf is an ipo coin??

IPO = Initial public offering.

When a coin is released, an IPO may be offered where you can buy coins at a specific rate. For example, when NXT was announced, it was possible to buy 1 NXT for 2 satoshis each. This IPO period lasted a couple of days, and at the end of the IPO period, those who had sent BTC were awarded with the amount of NXT proportional to the amount they had invested. Typically people invest in IPOs because they think that the coin will appreciate in value once the IPO is over and the coin becomes more widely known and is traded in exchanges. Sometimes IPOs are scams, as in the case of Stackcoin where about 70 BTC was invested but the "developer" ran off with the funds.

When Nxt was announced it had no price. BCNext invited people to send "a few satoshis" as a means of determining the distribution, as you say in proportion to the amounts that were sent.

This lasted for 53 days, 28 Sep 2013 to 19 Nov 2013 when the Genesis Block was created.

I'm surprised after looking at thread there on Kora how positive they are on Kora! But not interested in Qora!

Seems very hypocritical and strange for NXT fans it's like them prefering NEM over NXT.

Qora was only the next opportunity for short-term investment and nothing more. To survive it needs to build community, rich in talented people.

That's a bit like saying NXT was just a pump and dump until developers got involved.

I do admit Qora has a community problem but the reason is the developer works mainly alone. Its tricky cause i also know we need to get some talented people involved like NXT, they tend to build community and confidence in a coin. So I disagree this is not an important coin but I also see we are on a different direction to NXT and other coins. Simply cause there is not much room for developers to come in and get involved.

The plan however is for that to happen soon to build on top of Qora possibly as far as I know.

Personally I would like to see many involved in NXt to move also over to Qora, its a natural move for many who want to be involved in the innovative side of things.

v10 has some memoty leak. My node grow use of memory almost to 1G and i had to restart it.

How change -Xmx256m to -Xmx1024m will help?

This change the memory limit to 1024m

I do not want to allocate such huge bunch of memory for qora.

I think we should be patient. Not to hire any external developers. There is high chance of being scammed. Let qora do the work, because he seems he wants to do it, step by step. Qora could be simple, but powerful solution of various financial needs. Easy to use, it could be killer.

I almost completely agree, I think NXT has too many involved and has lost focus on user friendliness. That's the opportunity Qora has I think.....just worried about not having a bunch of respected developers onboard though.

Maybe if we get some top guys involved in the wallet design and building ontop of Qora soon.


One thing that we might need to look again at is releasing the source code, maybe with a few mistakes like NXT did. For some developers and investors its crucial they see the code.
