Many of my friends say that most of these exhibition fights are happening only for entertainment purposes.
Hence most of the fights are scripted and the fighters are being mega paid to do the fight as per the script.
This is how the sponsors are gaining money and I guess this might be the truth. This is the reason why I don't like exhibition fights.

Since it's entertainment, it just makes sense to believe that exhibition matches are staged and scripted even if it's not publicly disclosed.

However, if the fight is between two great boxers during their prime, regardless if the match will be scripted or not, many people will still spend money watching these as most people in the new generation never have a chance to see those legends fighting in the ring.

Simply, just ignored those shitty matches and only support those matches that have a good initiative (real charity event that makes sense and legit 100%).

as this type of boxing match is still selling tickets, the promoters behind this activity will continue to take advantage of this situation. but would be nice if they are setting-up good exhibition matches and not just because of clear intentions of pocketing the money from the boxing community. from time to time, we need entertainment. but should at least worth our pennies. and not just pulled out from somewhere, where the "boxers" themselves are not ready to rumble inside the ring.

There's a risk too on the side of promoters as they should organize an exhibition match that is really living the hype.

They can't just form a match randomly just because they want it. I do agree that there will be more people that will still support exhibition matches as long as those fighters involved are worthy to watch.

A fight between a famous one against a non-popular one can also do the trick. I don't know but money is really flowing at exhibition matches.

I didn't know that Floyd Mayweather has an upcoming exhibition match against Mikuru Askakura a MMA fighter, this month of September. And also I didn't know Mayweather has love for the country of Japan or the fighters, lol. After this fight, he might fight against a Korean fighter. Hopefully this fight will entertain us more compared to when he fought Tenshin Nasukawa.
He loves fighting Japanese and he loves to make easy money.

Just imagine this ;

FLOYD MAYWEATHER earned a staggering £52,000 per second for his one round demolition of Tenshin Nasukawa in Japan.

Floyd's fights now are just to make money, and there's no way he will choose a fighter that has a chance of beating him, his undefeated record will remain even after retirement.

Yes, this is correct, he loves the Japanese because they are wiling to pay him huge money, to have an exhibition in their country with their famous boxer. So who wouldn't love that? you are being offered big money in matter of minutes? So as Floyd said, easy money and his health is not at risk with this amateur Japanese boxers.

And it's the culture of the Japanese as well, that's why you can see boxing being held in their country and they have one of the best fighters right now, Naoya Inoue and they have a lot of current and past champions that can rival the best boxing country like Mexico and the Philippines.

Exactly, we know that Money Mayweather wouldn't turn down such fights that will give him guaranteed big money in just several minutes of fighting in the ring along with the amateur boxers in Japan, and of course, his win is also guaranteed on top of that Grin even if he will say again that he will put his professional record on the line.

I would like to talk about the recent fight on September 4, 2022, the Ruiz vs. Ortiz fight in this event there are 2 draw fights, I really don't expect a draw for an event like boxing but it really happens,

Andy Ruiz Jr. VS Luis Ortiz

In this fight, Andy Ruiz Jr. won the fight it was a devastating loss for Ortiz I thought that the fight will eventually end in the 2nd round because Ruiz have knockdown Ortiz 2 times, but Ortiz surely recovered and really has the heart not stop the fight, but Luiz Ortiz after that knockdown he is now moving backward and was hurt by Ruiz, no doubt about that that fast punch from Ruiz really is remarkable giving a volume of punches on Ortiz winning the fight via Decision, I thought that he would win via knockout but Luiz Ortiz is just clinging very well, I just watched the highlights of the fight and I surely forgot about this event because I was busy, and this thread is not popping in my radar, so I was really late,

There is the two-draw fight that I am talking about this event, really unexpected to have 2 draws on an event, but here we have,

Abner Mares VS Miguel Flores - DRAW

Oscar Perez VS Anthony Cuba - DRAW

^^ Regarding the Flores vs Mares fight. I had Flores winning, by a slim margin in my unofficial scorecard. Just to note though that Mares comes from a 4 year lay-off and the fight is in his hometown and he is a Al Haymon fighter if I can remember it correctly. So there is some biased in terms of the judges, at least that's how I saw it.

He had a good first 3-4 rounds, as he caught Flores several times. But Flores fought back up to the 10th round. And he has won the last 2 rounds for me and that should be enough for him to secure this victory by at least split decision.

I got an impression that Floyd Mayweather is a businessman first, a boxer second.  He always make sure that he has the better share of the pie, that he will win the fight, and that the referee will always be on his side, he has money to buy them all. Investment at its best!!! Grin

Agree with. Exhibition matches between two greats are way better to see rather than those fights between non-professional boxers and mostly cross-matching from different industries. More people will be interested to buy tickets at these fights compared to non-sense matches like non-pro vs Youtubers or players from other sports will jump into boxing etc.

There are many people that hold this against Floyd but I a don't see why that is the case, it should be obvious that every single boxer is looking out for their own self-interests, the difference is that Floyd has done an amazing job and that is why he has been so successful in his career and his monetary gains have been impressive, so I only have respect for him as a professional, even if when it comes to his personality he is nowhere near my favorite boxer.

That is why I have posted it here, I am pretty much puzzled about the 2 Draw result fights and regarding the Mares VS Flores fight I was really puzzled about it, Abner Mares has a good start and during the 5th round he has slowed down a bit maybe he is now feeling the fatigue if you see on this LINK Abner Mares is likely got many rounds 1st to 4th rounds the 6th and the 8th rounds that is for Mares, that is 6 rounds in total while Miguel Flores got 5th, 7th, and 9th to 10th rounds that will be just 4 rounds in total, while on the score cards Patrick Russell has given 95 for Mares and 95 for Flores while Zachary Young give 95 for Mares and 95 for Flores aswell and with Rudy Barragan has given 96 for Mares and 94 for Flores making Abner Mares the winner, but why the Draw result? I was really puzzled by this actually

well on the next event on boxing we got Claressa Shields VS, Savannah Marshall, on September 10, Canelo Alvarez VS Gennadiy Golovkin, on September 17, and the most awaited and I think I love to really see the Devin Haney vs. George Kambosos Jr. on October 15, on the later days I will surely post the said events here,

I think he has evolved as a boxer, specially when he become professional and saw the huge potential of making money for himself. And I guess his father and uncle has really a big influence on his life as a boxer and money making machine. So then become a business savvy, not just inside the ring by being the A-side and of course getting the biggest share and maybe also outside, by investing his money in Las Vegas and somewhere else.

Right, I also thought that the fight will not going to last the full 12 rounds. But both fighters really trained very hard to be able to see get going at each other for the duration of the fight.

But that knock down by Ruiz was the biggest difference in the fight. Although Ortiz try to fight back and make it very close, the 3 knockdowns was enough.

Haven't seen the 2 fights that has been scored a draw but it was really odd.

That is probably one of the reasons why they are so confident about taking a fight against UFC fighters, they already have some idea of how to deal with these fighters because of that experience they acquired. Anyway let's go back to the fight, Anderson Silva can protect his chin well and other weaknesses but that's in the old times when is still fast to react and quite agile to counter the movements. But now? He will be an open book to Jake Paul, no doubt.

Besides, MMA uses lighter gloves so the impact is far more devastating, now I wonder if Silva can still launch those kinds of punches that can floor his opponent with heavier gloves.
I know this is all promotions and business for Jake Paul but I wonder when will be the time for him to grow balls and challenge a professional boxing legend instead  Grin.

That's just one of many difference that MMA and boxing have, Silva is already considered as one of the legends in his time in MMA while Jake Paul is just trying to make his name in the boxing that's why having an exhibition fights like these means a lot to Jake Paul as this is his own way to make his name even if it really doesn't make sense at all. I totally agree in what you said, he should just try and fight pure pro boxers because that's a better way to create a noise for his name.

Andy Ruiz vs Luis Ortiz schedule was not normal. Big boxing events happened during Saturday nights but it was different. Andy Ruiz was reluctant in letting his hands go. He looks like saving his stamina for the late rounds and because of that Luis Ortiz was able to finish the whole twelve rounds. The fight was a draw if not for the three knockdowns by Andy Ruiz. Two judges had it 6 rounds each and the other judge had Ortiz seven rounds to Ortiz's five. I was amazed the fight attracted many fans.

It was really a weird Schedule but I think this is a special fight given that kind of date, and yes if not for the knockout this could be a draw, but surely despite his physique, Andy Ruiz is one fast boxer, that could surely give a volume of punches to his opponent While Ortiz might have that power punch that speed from Ruiz have really dominated the fight, and just like I have said it was really a great fight to watch but I am expecting more from Andy Ruiz he also defeated Anthony Joshua but surely he needs to fight more it is good to see him win for now,

This month of September is the best month of the year for the boxing industry all these fights are exciting to see,  two are for the undisputed title and one for a trilogy that everyone is waiting to happen, and we have something that will make this yar a memorable year, the much-awaited fight between Fury and Joshua with special sanction coming from WBC, and this could happen in the month of September, I wonder with all these great fights what will fight will be the fight of the year.

It surely is the best month to have for these exclusive fights but before we go into the most exciting fight on September 17, we will be having an all-girls boxing event and here it is

as this type of boxing match is still selling tickets, the promoters behind this activity will continue to take advantage of this situation. but would be nice if they are setting-up good exhibition matches and not just because of clear intentions of pocketing the money from the boxing community. from time to time, we need entertainment. but should at least worth our pennies. and not just pulled out from somewhere, where the "boxers" themselves are not ready to rumble inside the ring.

The money is flowing into exhibition matches because there are famous names getting involved in those matches.
They are creating a good hype for those matches and hence the tickets are being sold anything.
For example: Logan Paul vs Mayweather match was really hyped and gained a lot of attention.

For example: Logan Paul vs Mayweather match was really hyped and gained a lot of attention.

Pretty much Exhibition matches are very popular because people get to see their favorite fighter or artist fight a retired boxer, and this time a Youtuber VS a retired boxer, this  kind of fight will surely catch attention because it is new for them, and some are pretty much bored on just boxing they want to see never before seen just like on the upcoming fight of Manny Pacquiao on December against a martial arts master and that is DK Yoo, maybe this will create a stir on the fans or could be a fail because in recent DK Yoo fight some Youtuber has to Speculate that DK Yoo doesn't know how to fight in boxing,

Here are some quick picks for the upcoming fights on Shields vs. Marshall: Legacy

Claressa Shields VS Savannah Marshall

Stake odds for this fight are 1.92 for Shields while 1.86 for Marshall, my pick will be Claressa Shields,

Mikaela Mayer VS Alycia Baumgardner

Stake odds for this fight are 1.37 for Mayer while 3.05 for Baumgardner, my pick will be Mikaela Mayer

April Hunter VS Erica Alvarez

Stake odds for this fight are 1.04 for Hunter while 10.00 for Alvarez, my pick will be April Hunter, but not going to bet,

Sarah Liegmann VS Bec Connolly

Stake odds for this fight are 1.03 for Liegmann while 11.00 for Connolly, my pick will be Sarah Liegmann but not going to bet for this fight aswell,

That fight of Manny Pacquiao against DK Yoo will surely amass a good fortune because people already missed having the sight of Pacquiao fighting again in the ring even if it's not a professional fight and there is no doubt about that. I hope that someday there will be a Mayweather-Pacquiao fight too because that will be a good sight to see too.

There is a chance that DK Yoo will just be schooled because he is not used to boxing as he is a martial artist, but I bet he's already practicing and training a lot to give the people an entertaining fight so that their money won't be wasted.

I got an impression that Floyd Mayweather is a businessman first, a boxer second.  He always make sure that he has the better share of the pie, that he will win the fight, and that the referee will always be on his side, he has money to buy them all. Investment at its best!!! Grin

You're right about that impression because Mayweather is truly a businessman who views the industry as a business that's why he built his own promotional company to build an empire in the industry, he knew exactly that he's not the best boxer in his era even if he won't admit it and he just talk big to maintain the hype around him. Well, look at him now, he is already sleeping in cash.

He understands the concept of boxing and business and he's into both of them. While he's in his prime, no doubt that he's really a good boxer, and his achievements are recognizable as we look at his record.

Well, look at him now, he is already sleeping in cash.
Well done for him and that's how it works when he's got that record and also has the mindset of being a businessman, he'll literally be earning without doing anything and as he does something, he'll bag money after each of those offers.
