With how the Super Eagles played yesterday I don't know if I should say they played very well against the Black Stars of Ghana or not because this is the period where the interim coach wishes to be the head coach and is also where the Nigeria football Bodies uses just a game and a good performance to judge if the caretaker coach should be appointed or not. Is really disturbing with how we get coaches from our country to manage the Super Eagles, I ask this question, do we really need a foreign coach again to manage the team or one of those Ex-players? The NFF need to give us something to take with into the upcoming AFCON.

The problem with African nations in general is that they don't trust much their own coaches and don't give him a second chance if they don't find the appropriate results at the opposite of foreign coach from Europe in general.
Nigeria did well against Ghana even before the red card and their next game Tuesday against Mali will not be easier for sure even though they are favourite.

There other games that look interesting between Ivory Coast - Uruguay and Egypt - Croatia this Tuesday. Top african teams will face two good teams from Europe and South America that look favourite than them.

On a second thought the performance of the home based players can't be trusted because looking at the performance of Victor and Ademola Lookman you can't get a better than them in the home based team so the coach will always want to have more professional players in his team.
The new coach for the Nigerian team should have a full mixture of home based players and international players in the team so that he can create balance. Having too many home based players may make the team become inexperienced and then having too many international players will make the team to not feel as patriotic as they should if they were all based players at home. The Nigerian team won their friendly against the Ghanaian side today and for a new coach that is a new victory to first celebrate.
Since the resignation of Peseiro, the Super Eagles have not appointed a new coach. However, there is an acting coach in the name of Finidi George, who will lead the Super Eagles in their two friendly games.

There is one friendly match left. Two days from now, the team will play against Mali at noon.
By next month, we hope to have a new coach appointed by the NFF. Until then, there is no indication as to who the NFF would choose to lead the Super Eagles in their World Cup Qualification.

Whoever is appointed as the new manager of the Super Eagles should know that Nigerians are very impatient when it comes to football. We want to see results immediately. I don’t believe anyone who takes up the role will have a easy time managing the national team even if you’re Pep Guardiola. I remember when Stephen Keshi, a legendary football player for the Nigerian team, became manager of the Super Eagles. He was criticized so much that at some he resigned before he was called back by the NFF.

A manager is not a magician, it will take a series of plays to get the team to the level where they can once again be regarded as giants of African football.

Since after Stephen Keshis's era, Nigeria has been having issues as regards to whom to coach the super Eagle team and this is why we lost our game against the Ivorian team in the final. This time, the right person needs to be considered to take on this job and should leave politics aside. Besides, I wonder why our football legends have failed to take on this job, people like Austin Jaja Okocha, Kanu nwankwo and the rest of others, whom should have been better take this position and use their experience to manage our super Eagle team.

In terms of talents, the Super Eagles of Nigeria is blessed with so many talented players that are playing for different teams in the world including the ones that are playing for local clubs in the countries top flight league but one of the problems of the team have always been lacke of good scouting teams that'll help discover most of those good players. Nigeria Super Eagles is one of the renown football team in Africa and after 2006 football match between Ghana and Nigeria which Nigeria won them Ghana 1-0, Nigeria has not won them again until.on Friday 24, March 2024 which Nigeria won them again with 2-1. Really this win is a plus to Nigerian Super Eagles because not has sent a signal to others that Nigeria is galant again.

This was the 2006 result and when you check the link you will see the players that played the Match. https://www.besoccer.com/match/seleccion-nigeria/seleccion-ghana/200633784. And from that time till now, I will still take those players more performed than present day players.

Without a doubt, the Super Eagles are gallant in football once again not because of this friendly match they had with the Ghana team a few days back but rather the beautiful performance they had in the AFCON this year.

Let's not forget that, the match the Nigeria team won against the Ghana team was a friendly match, we shouldn't use it to rate both teams because they are not fighting for a trophy or the Qualification of World Cup. By the time the World Cup Qualification matches commence fully, that's when we are supposed to be talking about how gallant an African team has been against the other and the caliber of players they have in their teams in the present days and years

Friendly games shouldn't be used to rate the performance of any team but I know when a team has improved. The Super Eagles made it to the finals of the African Nations Cup but their performance was not encouraging. The team lacked synergy and depended so much on a single player Victor Osimhen. They were just fortunate to grab the silver medal because they were far below the standard of some national teams they won in the competition. But against Ghana we saw a well-organized team oozing with confidence and player beautiful football. We saw how George Finidi maximized the potential of most of these players, especially Alex Iwobi. He gave the Fulham player s free role made him contribute to the attack. I just want to watch today's game against Mali to make my own conclusions about the local coach. From the way he is managing the Super Eagles, maybe they might not need a foreign coach.

Exactly but we have to use this friendly Matches to analyze their performance because this also use to rank their performance in the international football ranking. Like as Nigeria bear Ghana in this friendly Match, when the ranking data or chart will come out, you will discovered that the Super Eagles would move forward in the list. Yes I understand what you are saying, we will really know the good team in the world cup qualifiers matches and I believe with the spirit the Super Eagles have, and if they have it at that time then they will not disappoint us. And they will do well to qualify for the 2026 world cup.

Few matches were played in the previous hours and I have some upsetting news for Nigeria's fans.. Mali 2 - 0 Nigeria
The two goals were scored after mistakes from the Nigerian side. Moses Simon was injured after half an hour of playing. Mali is a good team indeed but Nigeria could have done better..
Morocco 0 - 0 Mauritania should be upsetting for the Moroccan side due to the difference in level of players
Algeria 3 - 3 South Africa look intense more than the others.

In as much as this game is a friendly match I still see no reason why the Super Eagles can't maintain that winning record over the Malians, last time we met it ended 1-4 in favor of the Super Eagles and we have been on top but why now?
Tomorrow if we start beating Senegal, the next day they'll find a way of hitting us to get a victory. I see it as, the Super Eagles are not consistent and we don't have a playing pattern with some players are some how mindful of the way they play just to avoid injuries, to me is like they value their club side than the national team, I don't blame them on that.

He gave the Fulham player s free role made him contribute to the attack. I just want to watch today's game against Mali to make my own conclusions about the local coach. From the way he is managing the Super Eagles, maybe they might not need a foreign coach.
no doubt, the super eagles have been very lucky with the wins they've had both in the the just concluded AFCON and in the ongoing international friendlies and I think that hasn't made them play too well as a team. At th AFCON, thier performance for almost all the games they played wasn't impressive and it's mostly that they have to always struggle before winning a match. You don't see the kind of passes you would expect from players of thier caliber and the worse thing is that the strength of the team is just resident in the hands of victor osimehn, troost ekomg and of our safe hand, 001 nwabali. I was for one afraid during the game against Ghana seeing that osimehn and ekong were absent during the match but seeing that they managed to secure a win was a good one but you could still see that they lost concentration along the way and allowed Ghana to score in the most undeserving way.

Didn't watch the game against mali but saw that the lost 2:0 in favour of the mali team which goes to show that they still have to work on their play to be honest. I know most big players don't take friendly matches seriously but this should have been the moment to get test those players we've not been using and see how we can strive well when the like of osimehn and ekong are not available in the team.

Exactly but we have to use this friendly Matches to analyze their performance because this also use to rank their performance in the international football ranking.
The ranking does not matter, what matters is a team that has a very good performance because even the team with the best ranking can lose to the team with the poorest ranking in a competition just depending on teamwork and preparedness. I like as Nigeria lost to Mali because it will be an eye opener and something to remind us that we are not yet a perfect team and there is still a lot of work to do.
Moses Simon was injured after half an hour of playing.
Bad news for his club, it is always a scary thing when there players go for international duty.

Ranking means a lot in football and it is the performance that is used to measure the ranking and once a high ranking team is beaten by poorly performed teams then the next Ranking list the team most come down and that is why that list is updating every week or monthly. And we can't predict for now until Super Eagles play their world Cup qualifiers games and the next Africa Nations Cup Qualifiers games then we can say this new coach is good or not. But for the fact that he won his first friendly Match then he has some good advice and tactics to give them to display on the field. The Super Eagles herself is not too bad when we saw their performance in the recently concluded AFCON but all hopes were on them to win the Cup but irony caught all of us up.

And I am expecting that with the anxiety they got in the AFCON and they utilized it in the friendly Match and won it, they will do well in the next international football matches of both the World Cup and the Nations Cup.

From the way he is managing the Super Eagles, maybe they might not need a foreign coach.
Neither will NFF employ the service of Finidi George to become the new coach of the Super Eagles. The Super needs a well experienced coach to lead them to World Cup Qualification matches coming up soon. The coach that will make it to the top of the NFF list of coaches to choose is what you and I don't know. It can be a foreign or local coach. By next month we know who becomes the head coach.

Finidi George has done his best to lead the Super Eagles in their two friendly matches which he won one against Ghana(2-1) and lost the other to Mali(2-0). That brings it to the end of his services in the Nigeria team as an assistant coach because I believe that the next coach will like to choose who will work with him as an assistant coach.

You sound like you know African coaches more than we do but Nigeria to be specific is different. Their own coaches have tried but we didn't have much result and that's the reason why the federation always seek for foreign alternatives. The last one that coached the super eagles wasn't too perfect but I must say that he deserves some accolades for taking super eagles to the Afcon final, it been a long time since we went there and he resign the moment his contract expire.

As a Nigerian, it's not easy to manage their players, the fans don't give much attention to their match but when the see that you are making some progress, they give you 100% of their support just like the way we they did during the Afcon but what they don't tolerate is failure, they will come for you and you wouldn't like it. The forget immediately that football is just entertainment.

I think Nigeria needs to give their next coach time. I believe it's more difficult to manage a national team than a football club because with a football club, the coach has all the time with these players but the national team coach only gets a week every two months or thereabouts and that's never enough. He needs more time with his team. If after some time there are no notable changes then he can be fired.
This is like a trial period for the Nigerian coach who has overseen only two games, winning one and losing one. I feel he should be given time.

I believe so much in hiring local coaches. A former legend is also a bonus. He knows the team, he understands the people and pressure. This doesn't mean he'll definitely succeed but it gives him an added advantage.
If Nigeria can get a good coach and trust him by giving him time, he'll succeed because Nigeria is not short of good players. They have the players, what they do not have is the management. Proper management can turn that team into a fearsome side in Africa. They have all it takes to be that team.

Football is not magic, so expecting instant results will always be a mirage. Africans don't have regard or believe in local coaches. Nigeria has many FIFA-certified coaches who can do better than foreign coaches but we prefer to employ lowly-rated Europeans to take charge of clubs. My problem is not that Africans are employing foreign coaches but they don't attract the best. Brazil was considering bringing in Carlo Ancelotti to take over the national team but we only go for outdated out-of-job coaches. Some people might say that African countries might not be able to afford the wage bill of these world-class coaches, so the best option should be to go for local coaches.

We say what happened in the just concluded African Cup of Nations where Ivory Coast sacked coach Jean-Louis Gasset and replaced him with a relatively inexperienced and unknown coach Emerse Fae. We say how this former national team player motivated his side to win the trophy. In the last edition, it was Aliou Cissé an African coach who led Senegal to victory. I don't know any African coach who has to coach any European national team. We need to allow our local coach to grow, for me, George Finidi should be given the chance to prove himself. He should have the time to build the Super Eagles.

I agree with you that instead of going for a foreign low rated coaches, we should use our best skilled coaches for the job. The fact is that Nigerians do not appreciate anything locale, because they like to underestimate themselves. It is not by getting a foreign coach but it is to get a foreign coach that can get the work done.

On the other hand, if they cannot afford a foreign coach, let them go for a local coach. One thing that I see is the challenge of having a local coach is that, the coach can easily be manipulated by NFF officials, but it is hard for them to decide for a foreign coach on what he should do.
