Nigeria Female Basketball Team won Australia with 75 - 62. This is the only good news I have heard since this government took over power. At least in Buhari regime, Super Eagles won award in their Nations Cup. And others as well. But this Tinubu regime is nothing and it is a sign of bad omon.

Really those girls tried in the game and this how the gamw was played.

The Australian Female Basketball team is highly ranked in the global basketball ranking (3rd). So it was a big surprise to see the 12th-ranked Nigerian team winning the game. It was due to the hard work of coach Rena Wakama and the entire team. The star player of the game was Ezinne Kalu, who had 19 points and five rebounds. Amy Okonkwo and Elizabeth Balogun were also instrumental in this great win by the D'Tigress. Murjanatu Musa was outstanding in the defense with several blocks and steals.

Nigerians will be focusing on D'Tigress for a medal in this competition because they are one of the sides that have shown a promising future in the Olympic games. This is the team's first win since the Olympics in Athens in 2004. Nigeria's next game will be against France.

Exactly everyone is now on the D'Tigress in the Olympics and the way they playing is very good. The D'Tigress is the only hope in this Olympics. Cynthia Ogunsemilore was disqualified from the tournament, Super Falcons were defeated. Super Eagles are no we're to be found so all hopes are in this.

Though there are other race or sports are still there like, canoe race, long jump and others. We hope to see some AWARDS in the tournament.

I'm super proud of the girls for this win, this is their first win since 2004 in the Olympics. Just wish they can keep up the momentum and irrespective of them being owed their wages, they still pull through and were able to win Australia who were the favourite to win.  Getting alot of goodnews from the Olympics for Africa countries.

Lets forget about Nigeria for a second and appreciate the other African countries that have been making us proud at the Olympics. Since Nigeria winning a medal is looking unlikely, let celebrate this individuals, teams and countries below. I can't wait to hear more news of Africans winning medals and making the continent proud.

In as much as our female footballers are having a tough time  this Olympics, I think we should celebrate other Nigerian sport athletes as they are doing good. I do not know if basketball is allowed to talk about here but I am really impressed by the Nigeria Tigress performance this Olympics. The Nigeria female basketballers did very well this season and they have set the record straight by beating the Australia to playing with France on Thursday which is tomorrow. I hope and pray they keep the records higher than this by beating their opponents tomorrow match. I wish them success.

Yeah, even in football, Morocco and Egypt have successfully gone into the quarter finals of the competition and will be facing the USA and Paraguay respectively. The Nija female team have gone out and we need to support our African representatives that are pulling in big weight in ensuring that they bring the trophy home. Morocco has stood as a serious force to be reckoned with in football and against USA tomorrow evening it will be a fierce battle but let's just hope that they are able to proceed into the semi finals and hopefully the finals of the competition.

It's a disappointing outing for the super falcons but you can't speak down on them without considering that they played against super tough opposition that will easily beat any other average team like the super falcons. They even tried to defend and concieve less goals in all the matches if not, they should have conceeded a lot of goals from the three opposition.

I have not been following the women tournament like the men's competition but it is very inappropriate for anyone to underrate our girls. Having qualified to participate in the world tournament like this alone is achievement that should be commended. You don't expect them to match with western countries that have every support from their government and are well equipped with modern training facilities to aid their performance.

 We all are aware how less attention is given to support in this part of the world but these ladies decide to play despite the lack of welfarism. They deserved to be praised regardless of their performance in competition like this especially when they are featured in the midst of strong opponents.

It’s sad to see that we are yet to win a gold medal. The one that was looking like Nigeria had a good chance at winning was the 100m. So you can imagine how painful it is to read that national champion, Favour Ofili will not be competing because of the negligence of the AFN. The officials are claiming that they did not know her name was omitted from the list.

continental football is not as competitive as playing at the global stage like the Olympics most expecially for the female team but even at that, I expected them to get at least a win or in the worse case a draw from one of the opponents and not loosing all three matches. Everyone has the right right to be displeased with the performance of our female team knowing that we've held them in high esteem due to thier great performances at the Continental stage.

From all ramification in literally in all the three matches, they where outplayed big time, they just got lucky in the first two matches and the goal keeper also helped them a lot if not, looking at thier performance upfront, they lacked possession of the ball and played almost the same kind of football the super eagles normally play when they are up against a better rival. They sit back and allow the opponents do all the attack while they defend untill the opponent finds the back of the net. It has happened and we can't continue to complain but we really need to grow past this level of playing as underdogs in all intercontinental tournaments and allowing these guys drain us off like a team that has nothing to write home about.

Which of the three games did you expect the Super Falcons to win? Was it the match against Spain, Brazil, or Japan?  The group they were playing in was out of their league. There is a great disparity in the quality of football between the Super Falcons and their opponents was obvious. If anything, we should encourage the Super Falcons for trying. What we should be discussing is steps we can take to replicate our success in continental football to world football.

It's really good to see, out of 150 athletes representing the South African team in the Paris Olympics. The South African team went ahead and won bronze in the men's competition for Rugby seven, also bronze in men's cross country for mountain bike, gold in women's 100m breaststroke for swimming, and silver in women's 200m breaststroke for swimming.

All these medals were won by South Africa before the conclusion of the Olympics, showing that South Africa came prepared to have a better performance than the previous Tokyo Olympics 2021, that they just won three medals(a gold and two silvers).

For the record of medals so far for African countries in the Paris Olympics: Egypt has won two medals (1 silver and 1 bronze), South Africa four medals(1 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze), Tunisia 1 silver, and Mexico two medals(1 silver and 1 bronze).

It was a shame watching those losses from the women football team, it was as though they just went to the competition to complete numbers, however, the women basketball team D,Tigress like you rightly said are making a robust impact in the Olympic winning Australia who are rated in the top Three basketball teams in the Olympic games . Nigeria showed up and they had one thing on their mind which was to turn Australia over. They put a lot of defensive pressure on their opponent and it worked in their favour. I give it up for to  their coaching staff they drew up a masterful plan. The lesson I learned here and what the male counterparts in the football team can learn from this is that the outcome of the game is that this is what happens when preparation meets underestimation and that's what the game was all about. Preparation meeting a team that did not believe that Nigeria wasn't could beat them.  Australia underestimated  Nigeria and I think a lot of us basketball fans did too but we played together they played with heart

Morocco have just smashed USA a 4:0 victory and have now reached the semi finals while  waiting for the remaining Two teams that will have to join them and Spain at the semi finals.
This is the kind of result we want to see from African athletes at the Olympics and I'm hoping that Egypt will thrive through just like Morocco and bring the number of African teams at the semi finals of the men's Olympics to 2.

So far in this Olympics, the Nigerian female basketball team has been the only ones given true representation to the Nigerian squad at the Olympics, they are the only ones upon which Nigeria is hoping to get a good medal most of the others both team games and Individual games, they are not impressive enough to depend on them, hopefully they get something by the end of the tournament.

I have actually not seen be following the games judiciously but I have kept my eyes on the medal board and haven't seen Nigeria leading in most categories as expected of them and I can say for fact it's really sadden.

A win for an African team is a win for all of Africa. The battle is now over for the rest of the world and it's now a battle between the European and Africa. Let's note that No African nation has won the Men's Olympic Football Tournament since Nigeria in 1996 and Cameroon in 2000 and this could be a perfect opportunity to see either an African team in the final or possibly two African teams playing themselves in the finals.
