Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

Why does it still say 100,000 coins on cryptocurrency market cap site???

They were left over from the IPO, the devs asked the community what would they like to happen to these coins & the general consensus was to destroy them to increase everyone's worth. I was there in #XBC chat when they were doing it - will remember that moment for the rest of my life |
