I see that the protocol magic was changed in this code change, but I'm not sure if that has something to do with this whole discussion, but /GJ could probably shed some light on it.

We changed the magic in the 1.3.0 release. The magic wasn't changed again in 1.3.1. Cheers! /GJ, what is the protocol magic? I never figured out what it is used for exactly. -Fuse |

I never figured out what it is used for exactly. -Fuse To recognize connecting client if is valid client. For example, if you try to connect Litecoin to Guldencoin node it should fail. Yes, this. It's a 4 byte pattern that is sent at the start of a message between nodes. It's an early indicator to see whether the connected party is actually a Guldencoin node. It's not a "secret", nor is it a 100% foolproof method (there's a chance someone connects and by coincidence sends the same 4 bytes). But it filters away 99% of wrongly connected peers. It also helps to make sure that different cryptocoins using the bitcoin protocol don't ban eachother. If there wasn't a magic then a disconnect won't happen because the protocol used between the two peers is correct, but they will eventually ban each other because the blocks/chain is not compatible. This could result in huge blocklist and a fragmented network. So yeah: the network magic, it's pretty damn important  |

I think we'll see more stability and not at the expense of those people driving the buy support of late. Thanks to those who have helped maintain the price, it's taken quite a few BTC to do what they did to absorb the CM dumps. So here's a big:

Are we the first coin that kept stable (prise wise) under CM pressure? Or have there been others before? |

Are we the first coin that kept stable (prise wise) under CM pressure? Or have there been others before? Not sure. All that matters to me is what the community and everyone else has done to support NLG through all of this. Shows that this coin is very important to a lot of people. |

A few more hours. Hashes seem to spread nicely running up to the DIGI switch: http://nlgstats.iblogger.org/15% of the blocks are not accounted for, I guess it's in the other multipool(s)? |

Yeah, but those can't make up 15% of the blocks, right? I see NLG pool speed: 2.7545 Gh/s of http://www.coinmine.pw/poolinfo.php?coinid=109 Sometimes it is just tens of MH/s and then suddely more then 1 GH/s. Last day about 1,25 GH/s top average and short spikes of 2,8 GH/s. |

Yeah, but those can't make up 15% of the blocks, right? special digi-day edition of http://nlgstats.iblogger.orgmore miners covered and updates every minute. coinmine taking 5%, jumper Gazo1q taking 10% of the missing 15%.. which makes things interesting.. *IF* both clever and Gazo1q did not switch to 1.3.1, they've got about 50% of the hashrate.. as long as they continue to jump they'll both be stuck once the 1.3.0 chains diff jumps. coinmine op visits this thread? on 1.3.1? 50% is not an issue in this split. The "correct" chain is the one with the correctly calculated difficulty, no matter how much hashing power you've got to say otherwise.. |
