Question1:
How high a probability do you think it has that will happen again ?

That is an excellent question
What is the what that will possibly happen?

Looking forward:  A better Android experience would make it competitive as walking-around money. Intrinsic multisig - as opposed to a multisig wrapper - and a 1.0 gui would make it a robust competitor for the role of global digital currency in a post- central banking future. (My own pet speculation is that counterparty failure chains in the imminent deflationary/hyperinflationary cycle will spell the end of Nixon's experimental debt-based monetary system, in the principal developed economies.)

I must say, I greatly underestimated the practical and market value of RingCT.  I had not fully appreciated how leaky the boat was before RingCT, but I certainly do appreciate how sea-worthy it is today.

Bitcoin replaces central banking ($21 trillion in assets).

Litecoin replaces retail banking ($12 trillion in FDIC).

Monero replaces private banking ($15 trillion in AUM).

 Cool Cool Cool

What is the what that will possibly happen?

The discovery of an exploitable spurious issuance or double-spend attack.  It happened once it bitcoin, a few years back.  Now it has happened once in the cryptonote universe, including Monero.  The discovery of such an exploit by talented but unscrupulous persons could have destroyed most of the value in Bitcoin, in the first instance, or that of Monero in the second.  In both cases I think the discovery has reduced, rather than increased the likelihood of such a future event, but it does highlight the possibility, and it would be good to have a principled argument for a numerical approximate probability, for rational decision-making.

Is it my impression or are keeping the price of Monero low to end accumulation? It is the only currency that is not following the price of Bitcoin, on the contrary, recently there was a disclosure of a bug ... Is there another news? I'm watching and I started to buy XMR!

It looks like rather good timing.

Green candles again on the charts.  So pretty.

Stamp over 2200, XMR holding up nicely - even a nice spike up towards $40, albeit briefly.

Glued to the charts.    Segwit agreement (we will have to see) rumours helping price - if they're true, potential parabolic BTC rises may come.  It's getting toppy, yes - but how much more is in it, I have no idea.

Confession: I am certainly cashing out some portion of my crypto soon.  I don't need the cash, I just know if it all tumbles down I want to have taken a little out for a better future.  I certainly won't be upset to have sold some 'too early', I would be if it crashes and I didn't take some out when I could have.

I am seeing a pensions adviser this week to start one off with the proceeds.

I keep reminding myself that a big price rise results in a big unbalance.  I started out with a reasonable allocation between crypto and other assets, but now my wealth is proportionately almost entirely crypto.  This is not healthy.  If one is holding an asset that octupled or whatever, then sell some.  It's the only sensible course of action.
I'm one of the guys who lived like a monk or a college student for years long past the age at which most Americans become foolish consumers, scraping to buy and hold as much crypto as I could.  And it has paid off.  I just needed to lift my head an look around to see that sometimes you need to change your course of action, because it can be a mistake to stick with what worked yesterday and last year.  Reevaluate.

Good point - I just don't want to wake up early especially to look at charts and be up or down according to price moves.  I want to spend more time on holiday and with my girlfriend instead of in front of a screen and (even on here) and have the one thing you can't buy more of.

Time.

Happy to learn of your advancing prospects, but I would make the case that the speculation thread is at least somewhat better suited.

Myself, I regard volatility as an opportunity, rather than a risk.

so i have studied anonymous cryptocurrencies quite intensiveley and i come to conclusion that Monero is the best one out there. I have made differences with Dash coins and other Cryptonote Coins and Monero is superiour vs. all of these. If you want detail infos or have questions, pm me, if you have an other opinion.

Tell me why is so good. Why PM I think a lot of people will now why and what you have to tell about Monero. As far I now is anonymous and that's it.

XMR is making come back in market to bounce back or it is routine movement will be clear in couple of days. Some friend asked about Monero what is special in this except anonymous. I will say having features alone is nothing unless you are backed by community and investors to sustain the market and value. Monero has these both things.

That completely incorrect, and it will do creator no good, the blockchain will stop at that point and everything after that point will be undone, but this can not be said for opaque block-chains, it may already be going on for sometime now. The time difference between discovering it by the dev team and the usage of, could take years.  For example remember the Heartbleed bug ? http://heartbleed.com/

I would go further and say that added features actually detract from the suitability of a cryptographic tokens to serve a monetary role.  Liquidity abhors friction.  For that reason, the upside tail on xmr is much longer and fatter.

Time to introduce your friend to the concept of fungibility.   Smiley

As part of Aristotle's criteria for Good Money, fungibility is much more important than its side effect of privacy/anonymity.

...

We try to keep price talk in the speculation thread: bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=753252.new#new
That way, this thread is more useful to inform about the project and software.  I shall reply there.

Always nerve racking when I transfer my wallet from one computer to another (original computer was old and the hard drive was about to crash). Backed up everything, moved everything over (and the blockchain) with no issues.... Felt as if I worked out!
