I really don't know what would be the best value to hold after 20 years as it brings me to the same point to think that whether bitcoin will be alive or not after 20 years, its a long time though.
just believe it dude and keep using bitcoin. if everyone still using bitcoin, bitcoin will still alive for 20 years or more.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

Best would be have some for your retiring and let some move for more and for your future grandsons and daughters and you will have some spare in case something happened. Dont let go until the end and give the passwords to those who appreciates and will continue your legacy.  Grin

I really don't know what would be the best value to hold after 20 years as it brings me to the same point to think that whether bitcoin will be alive or not after 20 years, its a long time though.

People believe in the saying ; Bitcoin will be worth a lot or end up being worthless. I also believe this. You should collect what for you is the right amount. Some people can easily accumulate 5 Bitcoins per year, and the other struggles to get even 1 Bitcoin. Just focus on what is a good amount for yourself that makes you satisfied. If that for you is 0.5 BTC for example, then it's just fine. The most important thing is that you are happy with the amount you have. All other stuff is not important.
Diplomatic answer but very truthfully.
Who knows how much btc can jump, better to have some in cold wallet. At least small portion.

Yeah, something is better then nothing, as even something can take care of us in future if the value skyrocket, so would take risk and invest few money into bitcoins for sure.
You need many many many Bitcoins. That is the option. You dont know what the value, is and what is going to happen.
Than your life depends on the currency and that is very bad and not good to life with it.

How many? If the price of bitcoin is $100,000 each, you need just 20 bitcoin to live happily.

So 2 million dollars are enough? I'm curious as how you've got to this number.

That's more a dream than a realistic scenario. If Bitcoin is priced at $100,000 then only 2 or 3 coins are more than enough to put in your retirement account. It will be much harder to collect coins as we are progressing year on year and where the price goes higher and higher. The higher the price goes, the fewer coins people will get for their money.

It's not very likely that Bitcon will reach 100,000 $. The price will go up, I'm sure of it, but that much? Nope. So, you better collect as much coins as you can.

I think, first of all, that we should wait for bitcoin to reach 1000$. Only then would be the time to dream bigger.

exactly this! let's first wait for the price to reach $1000 again before day dreaming about anything higher than $1000/$2000. it simply doesn't make sense to think in terms of $100,000 while we are just above $400 currently. Cheesy

I think you will need a lot of bitcoin of bitcoins to do this its also that you never know what will happen to the bitcoin so its not easy to predict.
The question is also if the bitcoin in that year still exist maybe there is another digital currency on top of the world.

Also, reaching $10,000 from a level of $1,000 won't be as easy as reaching $1,000 from $100. The former requires an increase in market cap by as much as $135 billion, which is comparable to the total market cap of tier-II fiat currencies such as the Russian Ruble, Saudi Riyal, UK Pound, and the Australian Dollar. And to reach that level, Bitcoin must achieve the same acceptance level as that of the tier-II currencies.

Yeah, and its better that we take care of bitcoins in present, as thinking of next 20 years would be foolish thing to do, as the world is changing so fast, we can expect some other currency till then.

More new currencies will appear in the next few decades. But Bitcoin can always change and adopt better technology.

if the price is the same as it is today, it may take more than 150 BTC to make my dream come true. maybe if the price of bitcoin is still $ 400 in the next 20 years, then I need very much bitcoin, probably 200 BTC  Smiley

Yeah, totally depends on the price of bitcoin in future, as we don't know where bitcoin would be standing after 20 years, so its better to hold a high volume of bitcoins.

Interesting topic Smiley I've been thinking the same, but for my kids' college funds. The amound needed can be anywhere from infinite (bitcoin worthless) to a fraction of a bitcoin (bitcoin worth millions of dollars).
Either way, you're 7 years too late buying now. Like any price-guess-topic, I think it's safe to say bitcoin won't increase 100,000 times in price again as it did the past 7 years.

Of course, like all investments, it's wise to diversify. Although bitcoin has outperformed the stock market in the past year, that is no guarantee for the future.

Lets say I want to buy bitcoins today and store them for 20 years to use a my retirement fund.  Live comfortably, but don't need to buy a yacht or anything.  How many do you think I would need to buy?
then buy millions of bitcoin. because no one know that after 20 years. what will  happen bitcoin. may it will disapear or not worth a single pinny.

Well said its not true the price of bitcoin touching $10000. If such incident occurs surely bitcoin will get vanished. To the max it can reach value of $3000, but it won't even get stagnant at $3000.
