Theres a super important point people keep on missing.  Everything you buy in 20 years will also cost more, dont measure your world in dollars which is basically political currency based around Washington.  Its unlikely the world will be determining prices in the same way then, the big upheavel with oil regimes recently being one example.  They'll issue a ton more dollars to pay the governments bills which means everyone will have 200,000 of them in 20 years without much effort

Uh no, people (or at least if we exclude all the idiots in this thread, which, unfortunately might be the majority of posters here) are not "missing" it.

But what are you supposed to do? No one knows how much inflation there will be in the next 20 years, are you suggesting that nothing can be said about the topic?

To me, it's pretty obvious that when I say "$10,000" or whatever amount, I mean it in terms of present value of $10,000 (or whatever amount). But typing that out every single time is too troublesome.

I disagree with this. What is "reasonable" for the Bitcon price? Say you want to buy with Bitcoins something which costs $800, like ANTMINER S7 BATCH 10 for example. You buy 2.1 BTC and then you buy the miner with it. Say the price of BTC is not $380 like is today but $1M. Then you just buy 0.000798 BTC and buy the miner with this amount of Bitcoins. Where is the problem?

Bitcoin will not be an investment tool if the price is so volatile. We will not invest into a pump and dump tool.

volatility or not, bitcoin is whatever you want. it can be a currency if you so wish, it can be a tool to store wealth, or an investment tool. volatility makes bitcoin a more than interesting investment and attracts a lot people from all over the world.

Exactly, totally depends on what value bitcoin holds in the future, even 1 btc can take care of us or even 100 btc would not be sufficient, really interesting to see that whether bitcoin will exist in future or not, or will get replaced by some other crypto currency.

only time will tell what the future holds for bitcoin. if there is enough demand for a currency as bitcoin, then we can enjoy it for plenty of more years. if not, then bitcoin will get replaced by a better currency that is wanted by the majority of the people world wide.

I saw that and actually a lot of optimistic people believe on that bitcoin will cost a million dollar each, even the xapo CEO Wences Cesares believe it will happen. But personally, I think it is too good to be true, it would be great it would happen though and I guess 1 or 2 bitcoins will be enough for my retirement if ever

yeah, if you want to get 1000 bitcoin it is very difficult but there are one way for get this much bitcoin. only gambling from you can get this much bitcoin but it is dependent on only luck. if your luck is good then you can get 1000 bitcoin.

Partially incorrect, volatility is best taken when young because higher returns lead to high risks but time duration and the power of inflation are still on your side as you get older your risk profile becomes less and less volatile because you start relying more on that money.
Basically volatile is best if your young and conservative starts getting more important later on.

if you were to join in the early launching of bitcoin. buy 1000 BTC is a very easy thing, may only need $ 500 ~, to buy 1000 BTC, but who want to buy as much as it was in at the time?
