100 btc will take care of me in my retirement age, as I am also considering the rate of inflation after 20 years as I am pretty sure that inflation would be at its peak after 20 years, so its better to hold some more number of coins.

That is true...100 bitcoin is really enough in our retirement..besides, our pensions would also be sustaining us aside from our earnings from bitcoin...  Smiley

Yeah, great amount to hold at the time of retirement, as we would also get some benefits after retiring from the job, and bitcoin can be good extra income to hold.

But we are not sure whether 100 btc will be enough or not as we are not aware what would be the value of bitcoins after 20 years, whether it will be alive or not till then, time to think.

How many BTC?

You would need around 3000 now. At $400 each, which would make 1.2 Million Dollars, perhaps even exchangeable.

To assume a BTC would be worth more than 1-2k dollars in 20 years is pure dreaming. No one knows.
But considering the demand for BTC would grow about 500% in the next 2 yrs, this is 5 times as much as today,
the price would definitely go beyond 1000 dollars.
The requirements for this to happen are harsh, you have to make BTC more accesible and attractive.
Thats a lot of work. This is how its value is increased as well, the more work is invested for making BTC accessible.
Not everyone is a geek, not everyone has a computer, smart phone, not everyone is interested.
Though, considering everyone would have the possiblity to trade with BTC, still there are others,
which you will need, in order to trade with BTC.
So, hardware manufacturers, its a digital currency and you need a computer.
More important, the internet relies on huge power plants owned by companies, rich companies.
They will get their share before you'll be able to get rich with a dozen BTC.

But yes, keep on dreaming, thats what the vultures above you can't do.

May be 200 btc would be enough to have good and luxurious life, as cannot predict the value of bitcoin, but its always better to hold extra buffer stock so even if the value is not too high, it can take care of us.

There are 25 Million bitcoins that will be mined. Hmm so 200 is just a dot for that many bitcoin. I will get the 500 Bitcoin cut if you dont mind.  Grin Then I can retire someday with a big smile and a watermelon juice in a good sunrise in Hawaii.

I think you should correct your facts cause the max supply of bitcoin is 21 million. However, how much 200 is in compression to the max supply is not necessary but how much they would be worth at some point in future.
Your speculation of 200 or 500 might be sufficient for people living in less expensive or way low living standard countries.

I think $100k is achievable if bitcoin becomes a reserve currency and used widely. So 20 bitcoin will make our life happy.

Lets say I want to buy bitcoins today and store them for 20 years to use a my retirement fund.  Live comfortably, but don't need to buy a yacht or anything.  How many do you think I would need to buy?
20 years?i can't answer how much you need, because i dont know how bitcoin condition on that year, how about the price, how about world situation, too complicated.

I would say 50-100 Bitcoin looks like a very safe bet, really depends on how the market looks in 20 years.

Of course we can't be 100% sure but I also think that in 20 years Bitcoin will be somewhere between $10,000 and $20,000 per coin. And of course we don't say that the price will be so high because of inflation, we mean Dollar as it is today, with its today's purchasing power.

You probably need around 2,000 or 3,000 coins with the price not moving forward massively "although you can never predict the money price with bitcoins" and if you are living in a first world country.

I think you will need a lot of Bitcoins. More then 50 I think. Bitcoin is difficult to excpect what the value will be after 1 week.
It is hard to predict. So I dont think that you must live only with bitcoins, its better if you have a job.
