prices vary from shop to shop - state to state - country to country ...

what might be 1000aud here in australia - could be 400eu in europe ...

check in the online shops as well - like newegg and amazon ... they always have some good ones with support and good prices ...

you will unfortunately have to the legwork to find the best price ... we cant ...

ALL coins are down at the moment ... all of them ...

if you had a massive stash of btc - cash some out now and buy your cards ...

otherwise - mine / buy and stay put for a few months while the markets stabilize ...

this is obviously my opinion - as others do things differently and trade differently ... its up to you really - as its ALL a risk ... you just have to determine all that out for yourself - which coin to mine - whether to trade - whether to convert to btc - etc ... its all a personal thing based on what you see the market to be ...

except for holding btc so far as i can see ... no risk in that ...

im a miner first and foremost - so i see things very differently ... ANY coins that i mine are a profit for me ... because my meaning of the word 'profit' is not like most ...

the one thing you need ot foucs on is simple ... njoi ...

just have fun doing it all and it will always be a 'profitable' enterprise ...

7970 = GCN 1.0
290 = GCN 1.1
FURY = GCN 1.2

I can tell you from my experience that the opencl compiler is much smarter on 1.1 than 1.0, currently almost the same as 1.2. That means it's much easier to optimise for hawaii than for tahiti. But that's just a small part of the equation.

I belive I may turn up the hash some steps, I am not a programmer so I haven't the proper knowledge to put together a new build from binaries…

That seems quite low for X15, even from aznboy84's first miner on June 29, 2014 it was in the 3's for a 280X and above.  You are using a very old miner.  If you're going to go old school I believe you need to grab the July 25, 2014 build after ystarnaud made a shitload of pushes.

Finally got some time to test the optimised miner from NiceHash and I upgrade my AMD driver.

At the moment I am having issues with waiting for work from pool.  So I have increased the queue size to reduce this problem.

Also the miner is completely hanging after a few hours or so.

Any suggestions to get things more stable ?

Miner : Optimised 5.1.0 miner from NiceHash
AMD driver :  15.7.1
Card : Asus 280X

WATCHDOG--

A program that monitors another program and reboots the watched program when it is detected as hung, or idle too long.  In a DOS system, it would reboot the computer and let the AUTOEXEC.BAT file restart the watched program and itself on reboot.       --scryptr
