I got a message from someone regarding this thread today.  In the spirit of transparency, instead of privately answering them, i'm going to publicly post a response.

...

b) Someone deposited funds to our exchange and tried to social engineer double crediting of a single deposit of coins.  This is not a flaw with NEM;  If an exchange isn't properly tracking txids, someone can try to double claim something deposited.  We have multiple layers to safeguard against that.

...

I hope this answers the query we got and sheds light on what happened from our side.

Thanks,
richie@bittrex

I got a message from someone regarding this thread today.  In the spirit of transparency, instead of privately answering them, i'm going to publicly post a response.

A couple of data points:

a) Bittrex was not notified of the failed attempt to attack our exchange.  I was made aware of the attempt to social engineer our process on March 17th, around 1 am PST, when talking to the developers in the NEM slack.

b) Someone deposited funds to our exchange and tried to social engineer double crediting of a single deposit of coins.  This is not a flaw with NEM;  If an exchange isn't properly tracking txids, someone can try to double claim something deposited.  We have multiple layers to safeguard against that.

c) The withdrawal of properly credited funds were coincidentally delayed that evening because the NEM wallet produced an error. "2016-03-16 06:35:57.936 INFO chain update of 4 blocks (0 transactions) needed 97767 ms (0 μs/tx)  --> That means his system was basically dead. Might be memory problems or something else." After service was restored, we proceeded to wait 24 hours before crediting the account for withdrawal.

I hope this answers the query we got and sheds light on what happened from our side.

Thanks,
richie@bittrex

Can someone sum up what is happening here in 5 sentences or less.

AND NOT FROM WHO IS DOING THE ACCUSING

Thank you.

Wtf is all I'm getting from this right now for gods sake

CECVW: Koty can you help me get my stake. i am stupid. kOTY: Sure.
KOTY: i think i found a way to exploit exchange but i have no coins. I will use Cecvws and then give them back to him. Exploit works and tells exchange about it
CECVW. Where are my coins? how much bounty did you get? I will keep your secret safe Wink. How much bounty did you get?
KOTY: here are your coins. your welcome. Are you threatening me.
CECVW: I am going to tell all: destroy NEM: Last chance (cut from bounty): Posts a few dramatic warnings followed then by the "big" news that he is a crypto super hero here to save us all. Oh and Danmac is his sock or flatmate

+1
i read all what was writen here + email comunication that kodtycoon published (http://pastebin.com/ipttRjL3) + parts of email comunication CECVW claims was left out by kodtycoon (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=654845.msg14270908#msg14270908)
and that is really close to the reality.

sad thing is CECVW probably really believes his story ...
my last post about this .. hope more real news will come.

If I were you, I wouldn't wait for a dump to buy. Thing's only going to get better from here on.

NEM is built for the real world enterprises and is not a crypto play for the sake of playing up a crypto.

The rise has been slow and steady. It will hit tipping point for exponential growth once the stars begin to align.

That's all I can say for now.

I can confirm this statement and would like to thank the owner of Bittrex taking his time to post.

It was me who sent the message to bittrex thats why richie took his time to post here. Do we get a thanks? No! Do we get an apology? No! We reported it and all we get is abused! And the reason Dev NEM team notified Richie it because I Notifed Dev Team in the first place and all  the answers I got from the NEM team that was all ''bullshit'' to say in one simple word

Noone is denying anything? prove it, read all the post for the last few days. I sent you private email you and jaco38 and you are not denying anything? its when richie from bittrex posted here you admited? Now can you admit  which member of the NEM team or Ex member of the NEM team commited these attacks? Before you answer think carefully as you contradict yourself all  the time when you open the mouth.  We all have read so far that ''someone was testing to find a flaw, glitch or whatever''  for godsake!

Although you're probably referring to the NEM team, here it goes anyway:

Do we get a thanks? No!

Thanks.

Do we get an apology? No!

Sorry.

As I said in an earlier post, I believe the situation was handled wrongly and should have been resolved much sooner.  Considering that your funds have been returned now, do you still consider the issue to be unresolved?  If Yes, please explain what is still pending.

Smaragda thank you very much for your email and apologies but you have done nothing wrong but I still appreciate your kind word. The fund were refund only after 9 days asking him to return and only did return it when I  started to post here the first time if not I would have not received. Thanks for saying thanks and sorry but you are not a member of the NEM team and I was asking that from them long time ago and this is what I am was asking but still not answer

f''or Jaco38 to step done for covering up this shit and make dannac and me to go through all this ordeal for days, patmast3r and kodtycoon cut off any relation with NEM for the good being of NEM and any other person who is involved on this scandal. And an official public apology to me, dannac and all they exchanges Kodtycoon tried or hacked and return of any bounty paid to koddtycoon by the exchanges and if kodtycoon spent it all alreadty then to be paid by NEM management.''

if the above is done I will not come back to this thread ever again , you have my word

The chance to steal from exchanges.

Now that prospect is out the window -- thanks to Kody's efforts -- he's clutching at straws and wants a share of Kody's bounty.

Thats all this drama queen is after and has been right from the start.

Just for the sake of clarity, I believe you meant to say "thank you very much for your email post" as I have never emailed you.

As for the rest, I guess it will all come down to whether you get an 'official' apology or not.

My apologies smaragda I meant ''post''  this situation is stressing me out now after going for so long, its a matter of principle and I will not stop till justice is made completely
