Open alpha testnet has been running since 06/25 (closed alpha started in May).
Once we release real NEM, development pace will slow I think, because we will be dealing with real money and have to be careful. The community should probably decide if they want us to do that, or just wait until V1 for real NEM. V1 would be here a lot sooner if we did that I think (my personal opinion).

I think that there should be always a test net running on different port even after the
the V1 release. This would help in development and anybody willing to try to
implement some business or service based on NEM could
start to do it on test net without fear to make any loss or damage.

What block is the alpha currently on?  It says I am at block 33107, and I'm not sure if its syncing correctly.  When I boot the local node nothing seems to happen?

If I want to get involved with NEM, maybe invest some, what should I do?

Should I wait for it to hit some exchanges or is there anyway to get ahold of some before that?

• Wait for the auction (we're planning to auctioning off some stakes...no idea when though)

to be fair wait official releae and few weeks when hype is over.
Most shares was sold at 0.01-0.1 area so price can be dumped to 5m market cap bit lower than today then follow NXT Bitshares.
When Nem will be released to market should show true strengh after 1st crash i hope in Volume we will EAT NXT

No, not yet. You didn't miss much. You may have missed the alpha release, but you can still download it. That is only the test network.

I installed and uninstalled one click client and returned to 0.0.59. Firs I run NIS and after I run NCC I get this error in NIS window

When I open http://127.0.0.1:8989/ncc/web/index.html, I get "NIS unavailable" error window.

Where is the problem?

System used: windows 7 64 bit, chrome 64 bit

Before one click installer, everything worked OK.
