When normally spending money from the wallet (not coin-control), do newer (less confirmations) coins get spent first?
Yes. It is even written straight on the wallet.

Thank you!
Lol, I didn't know, I only use the headless linux wallet, so I don't have coin control. But I think I can manage without GUI and CC.
PS: Would be *awesome* if some coin-control functions would be exposed via wallet rpc.

I wrote an article on the HDJ about an important matter that will happen in December: max_generation kicking in.

How will this affect the price, the volume, the network security, the trolling, the confidence? I believe it is important that we anticipate this as soon as possible.

Max generation and its consequences

Soon (Zer0Sum said 6th of December), the second inflation control mechanism, max generation, will kick in. Max generation ensures that no more than 960 000 coins are generated each day. So, except if the amount of stackers goes down a lot, the days of 750% APR will be gone and HYP will have a more traditionnal 200% (then 100%, 50%, 33% after fourth year...)

Which consequences for the coin? What follows is pure speculation from me:
  • Temporary price increase as we approach the "block halving" (which is technically not a block halving). Then dump just after then correction to a more regular price, which might be lower or higher than the current price - I do not know how block halving translates for other coins' economies.
  • Accusations of fastmine
  • Less interest for what is suddenly "just another TRK/CAP" - This means that we then must communicate on everything else than high interest rate, like HyperPool (the most important), HyperLoan, advanced coin control, other features we will have...
  • A stop at the increase of difficulty, since staking is not that interesting anymore - except if the price rises
  • Others?

And you, how do you see the effects of max generation?

I don't care about the price, I'll just buy some more cheap HYP. Hopefully it stays at one cent, or even at half a cent. Price isn't really a concern, it's more about that volume.... I'm not too concerned.

I don't know why it there is a dump in the first place, but remember every sell there's a buy. Also only reason I'm bummed is that I'm out of funds and HYP is SO CHEAP right now.... Staking will compensate for the falling price. There will most likely be a price bump after this massive decrease, but I'm no fortune teller. Let's just ride the waves.

The entire 2 hour dump from 4000 to 2600 was only about 3 BTC...
I'm thrilled to be loading up on HYP under 3000 sats.

It's been 29 days since I started buying which puts me at about #70 on the RichList.
So my current annualized staking return of 903% is on a decent sample = all is well with this coin.

Do you know what triggered this error? What exactly were you doing. I know that on some machines loading coin control with an empty wallet can cause a crash.

Don't forget what I said a little while back:

HyperStake is not about day trading, it shouldn't even be about price. It is about pushing proof of stake and crypto economics to its limits, and so far we have been doing that. HYP has one of the most secure PoS networks and the difficulty has been consistently above 1 the last few days.

HYP has the first (that I know of) themed wallet that can switch themes on the fly, add more themes without recompiling, let the user customize the themes, etc. HYP has the most advanced coin control wallet ever made, and pretty soon we will rename it to stake control so that we can call it ours. HYP has a good relationship with other coins with insanely smart devs like Tranz.

HyperStake has one of the largest, if not the largest, tipbot IRC userbase complete with several channels for rain, games, trivia, etc.

Honestly I think if we continue down the path that we are on, then we can be one of the top PoS coins. Peercoin i think shall always be top because of SunnyKing and the original invention of PoS and the excellent maintenance of the wallet security.  HyperStake is on the path to be the next best PoS coin, the PoS coin that is much easier to learn with, that shows you all of the crucial details of your staking, that gives you enough stake percentage that it is worth holding it, etc.

Lets not let day trader mentality get in our way  Smiley

crash in all exchange
Crash is ALWAYS on all exchanges, because arbitrage. I personally consider arbitrage as a good thing - arbitrageurs are doing something that decentralized networks cannot naturally do, so it removes one argument to centralisation aficionados. Arbitrageurs are caretakers.

Also, I really don't understand people making public their complaints about the price. Do you think writing it down would actually have an impact? I suppose this is catharsis, feeling better by writing it down, even if this just break the morale without any advantages.

Methink I'm becoming a rationalist...

The only time I have ever seen that error message with Qt was when I first tried setting up a Qt development environment and had installed a number of different versions of MinGW. I had this problem with qt 4.8.4 compiler and it seemed like one of my executables was finding and loading a version of mingwm10.dll that didn't agree with everything else. I hunted down and eliminated all the versions of that dll except the one that I wanted to go with mingw 4.6, then recompiled the wallet and the problem disappeared.

I can only hope the price stays like this until Friday so I can buy thousands more!! That is all I will say on price as I honestly don't care what the price is. I care more of what the coin brings, the work the devs do, the IRC community, etc. HYP has proven itself to be a leader and shall remain so!
