Can someone give me a good long term strategy for HYP? I am now nearly back to 30k coins just got to grab 3 more K..I started with 19k most bought at 6-8k sats, few k were bounty as well..Now I had to sell a few last week but got them nearly all back now. I was thinking to grow them to 100k if possible through staking and buying a few more then begin say taking out 30% roi from my stake and grow/ compound the other 70%..Is this idea any good? Or are there better strategies for long term growth plus turning over a profit?.. Smiley

The idea is full stake, not selling at all.

But eventually you want to make your investment back slowly slowly and some monthly roi no? Say after 1 year or so get back your initial and slowly be in profit?

Consider it like a profit made on interest rates on a bank account, if you move your 30% from the wallet, it will be 19k minus the 30% staking, instead of 30% on top of your 19k. That's why those who know better never sell the profits made with their stakes. Not to mention that, after this phase where we see HYP value has stabilized, it will undergo major implementations/improvements as the devs are working hard on various projects. That means when you sell, it will probably turn out to be at a loss (considering you bought at 6-8k). Patience is the key.

PS, when the price rises, it does so fastly more than slowly, so you can hardly make up for lost time if you sold beforehand.

Thanks for the kind explanation. I am now back to my 30k HYPS so happy to let them stake for months now hopefully without touching them. Yes My Idea is to only sell from staked stakes when my account really grows..Now I understand how you put it.. Wink

Also keep in mind that we are still in a phase of max reward, so stake as much as you can.

Set S4C to send 25% of your stake to your Poloniex address, then every once in a while, place a sell order as you see fit. That way, you don't stress over the price and you don't kill the golden goose.
Read Latapie Pledge

Endowment will be a good reading too.

Hi everyone ,
I know this will be a lame question and I will sound like a true and total noob but.....
is there any way that I can reduce the chance of a stake going bad and being not accepted? I have about 50% of my stakes that are always rejected? is this normal and im just a noob? and if I am  just excuse me for starting on the wrong foot!

Latapie pledge: sell 25% of your stake to HYP/XMR market

Why?

StakeHunter pledge: "sell 25% of your stake to increase liquidity". I would add: it will also encourage volume

But calculating what is 25% of your stake is difficult, except if you decide on one day and stick to this discipline every month (or week).

Fortunately, HyperSend makes it much simpler. Set Stake for Charity to 25 % and you're done. And this is as smooth as it can get, since it happens as soon as you staked, no every day/week/month. Waste and headache are kept at a minimum. Use your favourite exchange address as the destination address.

Voilà! You easily sell 25% of your stake. The actual selling, though, is not automated and this is a good thing (read Where no coin has gone before for the reasons).

I will personally do even better: I will not sell for BTC, I will sell for XMR. First because I love XMR and am a core dev there too (but this is not important for HYP), second because it will allow us to be constantly on top of the volume of the XMR market (we already are #2 #1 since last time I watched the volume), which will further increase our visibility. Consider the amount of visibility DIEM got from being the previous #1, compared to what the coin really represent. Now imagine with HYP the boost of visibility it would be.

Man that is so clever..I just saw the stake for charity in the wallet, so cool..

Hello

Got myself a few HYP and have setup hyperstaked on archlinuxarm (cubox-i).

cclistcoins and stakeforcharity are very handy commands.

hyperstaked getaccountaddress is great for sending desired amount of coins for staking as you get a new addres/block each time.

Just to check -
Quote
walletpassphrase <passphrase> 9999999 true

Thanks everyone. Makes sense now.
Silly question but say I've got a number of ~1600 blocks staking right now. Do the staked coins join each block once either the 1000 limit hits or 30 day limit hits (whichever happens first)?

I guess I'm asking is it an instant addition of coins to the wallet and then I need to re-calculate new blocks and repeat?

In the newest version of the wallet you can tell it what to do. It is called "splitstakethreshold" and is in the RPC commands.  If you set the threshold to 1,000 (default setting in new wallet) it means that it will take your full reward and old block amount, and if it is over 2,000 HYP it will make them into two blocks. If the full amount was less than 2,000 it would combine them as one block.

So you think of the threshold number as the minimum block size it will make if it splits.

and it saves to the wallet!!!! man I LOVE that... one less thing for me to forget to do!

Except that when you restart your wallet I see no way to see if <setstakesplitthreshold > is set correctly.  When you set it it says it is saving it and either you trust that it did or you do what I do and set it again when restarting the wallet.

try getstakesplitthreshold

edit - just noticed that it shows up out of order in the rpc command list  Angry  Shows up as setstakesplitthreshold   Sad

I can't figure out how to set my split stake threshold.

I'm in the console and have tried "splitstakethreshold", "setstakesplitthreshold", "getstakesplitthreshold" and getting no response. None of those are showing up when I type "help" or looking at the list of commands available.

Is my client out of date? Using 1.0.7.0
I've tried adding a "-" before the phrase in the console, that doesn't work.

Any suggestions?

Hi LiteBit.
Yes, your client is outdated. You will need 1.0.7.2 or higher for those extra commands (not sure if all are precisely worded above).
Importantly, the threshold value will need to be set at every wallet startup, unless you update all the way to 1.0.7.3 (latest), which is the version that implemented recording of the threshold on the wallet file.
Happy Staking!

2.1 That's exactly what I meant. two points (pm me your address so I can send you some love for that. I literally laughed out loud.)
3. ok. and a huge shoutout to zeewolf for the theme code! w00t w00t
4. ok
5. thanks
6. Freenode has a browser based client here. You could just use it this one time and we wont tell anyone. I swear. It's also a million times better to try and troubleshoot what's going on if someone can talk to you in real time as opposed to 'snail mail' ing it through this forum. Just sayin.
7. Don't thank me yet, I have no clue why you are getting so many orphans. I was banking on you rar'ing the internet with the client staking or something of that nature.
8. Shot in the dark, what is your CPU usage when and when you do not have mature coins?
9. What is the speed of your internet?
10. How many connections do you have?
11. Can you upload your debug.log? In win7 it should be in C:\Users\YourUserName\Appdata\Roaming\HyperStake

54. To anyone who can answer, would getstaketx show anything on an orphan? I dont have any in my history to check right now.
55. What the shit would cause that many orphans?

If you send in your debug log, do it to one of us over PM, unless you want all of bct knowing your ip address.  My guess is that you have a slow internet connection.
