why it is a future of the digital currency?

new blockchain designed specifically to add third party services without political red tape.

think of 'wordpress' and how many other businesses that spawned and you get the idea.

Holding VIA loooong term  Smiley Everything looks great. Pretty sure we just stabilized above 40k.

And by 40k I mean 40,000 satoshi, or .00040000 bitcoin.

Ahhh thanks! I just bought about 4 BTC worth so about 10k of them... Wish I would have gotten in on the pre-purchase deal:(

Also worth mentioned - Via coin has a slow but steady rise on the graph.. Which is a good thing! Def not one of those pump n dumps.

Sizable buy walls have appeared on Bittrex.  Will the price respond?  We'll find out soon.

can someone explain the difference between via and ethereum?

a. Ethereum will presumably launch in ~6months ; Viacoin already launched.
b. Ethereum technology is still experimental; Viacoin builds on top of CounterParty proven tech.
c. Ethereum is non liquid (BTC will sit until launch); Viacoin is traded and liquid.
d. Ethereum valuation will be >$20m at current prices but what (but what really matters is valuation at launch in bitcoins, i.e. if btc jumps during these 6months by x10, then Ethereum valuation at launch will be > $200m); Viacoin is traded today at $2.4m, and in 6months valuation will presumably reflect launch and integration of clearinghouse, and possibly introduction of Tree-Chains by Peter Todd).

I am a big supporter of both projects, but invested only in one.

At the end of the day, everything has a price, and value.
I try to invest in projects I believe in, AND where value is in my eyes greater than the price tag.

My 2cents.

Nice comparison. I too support both, and am invested in both. More heavily in Viacoin though. There is just too much BTC invested in Ethereum, and I don't feel like the price will jump up as much... Both have fine development teams, but Viacoin has Peter Todd, which is huge. Im sick of the "moon" references, but Viacoin will definitely go up in value and will be around for a while. Definitely a great long term investment.

I setup a testnet faucet so you can get your hands on some testnet coins. You will need them soon. You need to run your wallet in testnet mode however.

On windows get a run window and type

Code:
"c:\program files\Viacoin\Viacoin-Qt.exe" -testnet

The testnet faucet can be found here: http://viacoin.coinlabs.org/testnetfaucet/

I installed 10.3.0 64-bit and it randomly crashes within 5 minutes of opening the wallet on Windows 7 64-bit ("viacoin-qt has stopped working, close program or wait for it to respond"). Anyone else have this issue or have any suggestions? I sent coins without any issue, but it crashed before the transaction fully confirmed.

I have not tried the 32-bit version.

Edit: drak is sending me PMs. Thanks for the quick response.
