[picture removed here]

The original version of our rig.  The woman in the picture is my mother-in-law.  [edit here] This was a very nice picture of a real person doing some chemistry in 1949.  The very first response calls her a bitch.  Kind of kills the mood, so I took it out.

Our latest version.  It has four cards and does 1.31 GHash/second.  It uses about 900 Watts.

My mother-in-law retired from the mining business years ago.  She still has those pearls.

I wish I knew where people were still finding 5870s or better in stock.  I saw a couple of 5870s in stock at Newegg the other day for $280, but that didn't seem like a great price or anything so I didn't snap them.  Someone else must have though because they were gone within an hour or two.  Any time I do the math I can't come up with any result other than buying more 5830s (and good thing too because it's the only card I can find).

Edit:  I looked on that overclockers.co.uk site and with the current exchange rate and shipping to the US it should be costing me around $220/each.  I was thinking about picking up 4, but it keeps trying to charge me the VAT when I checkout with paypal.  I thought I would get the ex-VAT price since I'm in the US.  What's up with that?

What power supply are you using?

PSU: Silverstone Sst-St1500v2 1500w
Motherboard: MSI 890FXA-GD70
Case: Chenbro RM41300G **

** There are two similar models, 8 slots and 7 slots.
The one with 8 slots is "G" or GPU model.
Many stores show stock photo showing 4GPU in the case, but are actually selling the 7 slot version, so make sure you get the right one if buying.

Pic showing the 8 slots.

Not strictly a miner rig (gaming machine setup that is bitcoin mining with all it's spare cycles), but:

It's pretty amateur hour compared to a lot of these, but it gives me ~700Mhash/s at $40/month power usage, and it can mine while I game as well.

Of course, that was all before...
