I like to check out new pools every now & then, just to see if I'd be better off with a different one. I have a list of checks I like to go through with each one first, just to see if it matches or betters the pool I'm currently using. it goes something along the lines of:

1) Does the pool have a history of consistently not paying?.....................check
2) Does the pool claim to pay out more than it earns?..............................check
3) Does the pool have large quantities of posts from noobs all praising the pool?.............check
4) Does the "dev" frequently disappear leaving unanswered questions from users?...........check
5)...blah, blah.....etc, etc.

I'll stop there, but you get my drift. I just like to be sure before I point my hard earned hash at just any old pool. As much as I would like a chance of winning a "free" invisible S3 & chat with the many fake user account holders about how wonderful it is here while waiting for payments - I've decided to pass and use a different pool. I'm not quite sure why - I just got a funny feeling things ain't quite right here........plus the fact that my checklist was 100% fail.

It's far from wonderful for various reasons but missed payments aside the pool hasnt cost me any lost income or anything yet. All missed payments have been made up for and s0br went as far as giving me BTC I missed out on with a server diff thing without asking for any sort of proof and my account is farrrr from fake so take my words however you like. I'm by no means a fanboy but the pool is new, imagine Bitminter, or BTCGuild in their early stages. I'm sure they had issues of their own that had people saying some of the same things about them in the beginning. Grant it maybe not as frequently but still.

Ok, so I have ~5.2 Th pointed at the pool and payouts seem ok, using Coinbase reports to do daily totals etc.

Anyway, stats seem to only be showing 4.4 - 4.6 on all the stat areas including the "pool" area where it shows me ranked 34 in terms of hash with 4.4 Th when I have ~5.2 Th.

Hey, can you tell me which server(s) you're using and how the workers are configured for your miners? IE, does each miner have a worker?

Each miner has a worker and servers are 3333 / 3334 depending on the systems hash. The stats come and go so it seems to all be there and just a display issue with how s0br has constantly updating stats instead of say running updates every 5 to 10 minute

Which servers specifically? And all your gear or anything rented?

Thx. And no harm intended by that rental question - you would not believe how many support tickets / complaints are from NiceHash and MRR rentals. Any chance you'd give west2 a shot, at least for the 3333 miners? With west1 being one of the 4 low-diff servers, it might be seeing more traffic.

Oh I know, I just think with rented equipment I'd have a higher chance of losing my shirt.

Like I said, I think it's more of a display / logging issue with constantly updating stats.

Up until last I only had one miner here and brought over my other 7 so I'll let this go for a day or two and and long as payments stays constant / made up for when missed I should be G2G.

But ya, if s0br works on logging stats an not updating then on the fly then we should see more realistic hard numbers if he has them update say once every 10 minutes.

now to answer these from the other side of the fence lol

1) Does the pool have a history of consistently paying? yes (teething problems aside)   the admin has always paid and corrected issues with payouts as 238 other users of the pool would be able to conform or ya have NO WHERE THE NUMBER OF MINER IN THERE AS THEY WOULD HOT FOOT OUT OF THERE QUICK (also a growing HASH rate on the pool is normally a sure fire way to see this that payouts happen and the user/miners are happy as it would going the other way if there were payout issues)
2) Does the pool claim to pay out more than it earns? yes due to the bonus one would know this was the case via the thread...  
3) Does the pool have large quantities of posts from noobs all praising the pool?   ALL these so called NOOBS are miners of the pool a simple look at the POOL stats you can match most users up to in there
4) Does the "dev" frequently disappear leaving unanswered questions from users? yes and NO in here BUT VERY ACTIVE IN THE IRC as well as the pool new support team and basically the pool now manned 24/7 with admin (again a teething issue and the DEV spotted this as an issue and reacted by setting up a support team to help him deal with issues to free himself up to continue working on coding issues sign of a good dev to work out he needed help to deal "support issues" to better manage time on coding)

So keep going with the pot shots as Guess BAN (sobr) doing something right as they keep getting potshots from everywhere and yet the users/members keep mining away in there collecting payouts above they normal daily expected earns and more keep joining

ok here it is, mining with a S3 today on 2 different accounts 1 S3 each & here are the payment records from my wallet. may i know why there is a huge gap in payment ? & i ask again, did i set anything wrong in settings @ pool site or pool is still fixing payment system or well, maybe i'm wrong again, i tried to set 1 hour but it went back to 4 hours by default.

do note the times are local time UTC +8, started mining at local time 3pm on both rigs. there could be some downtime due to restarting miners but it was +/- 10 mins. local time now is 0323am.

After looking at it they are very crafty at ban by gaining minutes on rewards per hour

So how they do it is this......for example first hourly payout at 1am, then next pay out 2.20am, next 3.40am.....you see that we think we are being payed hourly as we only see 2am, 3am......but it's always 20 minutes late each time meaning we lose 4 hours per day......yep meaning we lose 4 payouts per 24 hours So I pointed this out & all he'll let loose on me...got chucked of chat & thephwner emailed me asking what my problem was.......ban pool is a scam..thephwner and minerftw is now on pay roll for s0ber they told me.

got a msg from a friend, not sure it's true or not just posting on behalf.

What you say in your first paragraph is true. Most 24 hour periods lack a payment or two. Agreed.

But here is where you go wrong, pay attention now, it's not for the faint of heart!

Sum 5 days or 7 days you choose, but not 24 hrs. Compare your actual yield (don't forget the 12.5% bonus) to your "non-BAN" any other pool or calculator and the numbers don't lie. BAN pays more.

So the real issue is... you don't like getting 23 payments when you are expecting 24- even if you ARE making more. Did I hit a chord?

But here is where you go wrong, pay attention now, it's not for the faint of heart!

Sum 5 days or 7 days you choose, but not 24 hrs. Compare your actual yield (don't forget the 12.5% bonus) to your "non-BAN" any other pool or calculator and the numbers don't lie. BAN pays more.

So the real issue is... you don't like getting 23 payments when you are expecting 24- even if you ARE making more. Did I hit a chord?

So.. when you tally them up, is that the expected return for your hashrate for 24 hours? From what I can see the only difference is a minute between payments up until 19:00 in which there is more variance. This could be chalked up to malicious activity, sure, but it could also be chalked up to just about anything else. In the end, what really matters is plugging in your hashrate at a bitcoin earnings calculator and comparing what you got against what the calculator said you should expect.

Not that I feel the need to defend the pool; I personally removed a lot of hashing power from it since I feel somewhat uncomfortable about its rough edges but I am just not sure I find all the evidence mounted against BAN to be that damning. Anyway, I guess I'll plug my numbers into a bitcoin calculator myself later on and see if I earned what I expected to gain or not.

After looking at it they are very crafty at ban by gaining minutes on rewards per hour
Let me explain!!!!!

So how they do it is this......for example first hourly payout at 1am, then next pay out 2.20am, next 3.40am.....you see that we think we are being payed hourly as we only see 2am, 3am......but it's always 20 minutes late each time meaning we lose 4 hours per day......yep meaning we lose 4 payouts per 24 hours So I pointed this out & all he'll let loose on me...got chucked of chat & thephwner emailed me asking what my problem was.......ban pool is a scam..thephwner and minerftw is now on pay roll for s0ber they told me.

got a msg from a friend, not sure it's true or not just posting on behalf.

faint of heart it is, this is only partial that i put up. like i said it was only a message sent to me & i'm not sure that i could be wrong or right so i went & checked my payment records sent to me from s0br himself. obviously i did not only look at a day. if payment system is set to hourly then it should be 24 isn't it ? why less ? although being paid more but 1 or less in a 24 hour cycle still means i do get paid less. didn't even wanna go and look more but since there were some massive delays (more than 14 hours) in couple payment (being patiently waiting & sorted out with s0br nicely & continued to persuade my friend to stay in pool) so i looked at it after receiving the message.

here's another example of delayed payment:

i got paid by s0br after chatting with him & he did mention there were some bugs in the payment system.

and probably other bugs & never mentioned a word patiently waiting & wondering again (about .5 btc not in wallet yet after a long delay)
