Well, I have a WD Black 1tb sata3 64mb hdd and just bought a ICY DOCK EZ-Dock MB981U3S-1S 2.5"/3.5" SATA HDD/SSD USB 3.0 & eSATA Docking Station .
I will be using usb3 as connection.
Will this be fine mining burstcoin on an icy dock or has it never been done before?
Laptop is an acer Predator G9-591.
Edit: And what is with plotting with gpu rather cpu, any info on this?
USB3 is more than sufficient, the dock is no problem. For more in-depth info, look here; https://forums.burst-team.us/category/8/mining-plotting

USB3 is more than sufficient, the dock is no problem. For more in-depth info, look here; https://forums.burst-team.us/category/8/mining-plottingThanks. Both plotting options/speeds vary greatly on your hardware.
Using the built on CPU plotter from the AIO wallet (which uses Xplotter) generates the the plots for you all OPTIMIZED. Usually the longest process (unless you have a nice dual xeon setup). Depending on your know-how when it comes to configuring software switches, this is generally what most people use when they first get started.
Using the GPU plotter option with gpuPlotGenerator in BUFFER mode plots in UNOPTIMIZED mode. Plots finish faster than CPU plotting, but the read times of the harddrive will generally be slower when the miner accesses the plots. You will be up and runner quicker, but at a performance cost when mining. It's up to the individual to see if they want to deal with it or not.
Using the GPU plotter option with gpuPlotGenerator in DIRECT mode plots in OPTIMIZED mode. Plots finish slower compared to Buffer mode, but ends up being Optimized just like the CPU plot. Depending on your video card, this usually will finish plotting the drives for your quicker than a CPU plot.
The other benefit of GPU plotting, is that you can plot multiple hard drives simultaneously.
I wonder if plotting with a 6700HQ or a overclocked gtx970M would be better?

Anyone else seeing network quality declining? Mine has gone from 99% to 82% in the past few minutes and still declining. Last block is 353958.
UPDATE: just went back to 100%. Never seen that before. Not sure what causes it.

It can take a while to download the blockchain. Try using the online wallet in the meantime. There are also online wallet options at burstnation.com.

Hi, I've got a little gpuPlotGenerator issue.
gpuPlotGenerator listPlatforms
produces the following: -
Author: Cryo Bitcoin: 138gMBhCrNkbaiTCmUhP9HLU9xwn5QKZgD Burst: BURST-YA29-QCEW-QXC3-BKXDL ---- Platforms number: 3 ---- Id: 0 Name: Intel(R) OpenCL Vendor: Intel(R) Corporation Version: OpenCL 1.2 ---- Id: 1 Name: AMD Accelerated Parallel Processing Vendor: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. Version: OpenCL 2.0 AMD-APP (2348.3) ---- Id: 2 Name: AMD Accelerated Parallel Processing Vendor: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. Version: OpenCL 2.0 AMD-APP (2348.3)
But I have removed my RX580, rebooted and it still shows the above. The ONLY graphics in my system is the i7 CPU iGPU.
So where is this platform information being stored and how to correct this info?

sure .. no prob!!! it is sufficinet fast... you need just to stay under the average block time to send deadline to the pool... here you can check the average block time http://burstcoin.biz/charts/average-block-generation-time

Did you already plot your HDD? I would recommend going to one of the BURST specific sites - burstnation.com or https://forums.burst-team.usBoth have links to videos and resources explaining mining. Or go to YouTube and search appropriate terms. If you haven't plotted yet it can take some time fyi. But it's a one time thing. Overall the process is pretty simple, I am not a tech guy and at all and got it going from the videos and a couple of questions.

No, have not plotted yet, still waiting on amazon to ship/deliver my darn icydock hdd station to burst on my 1tb. I'll check out the videos as I already have. But if I recall I didnt see setting up local wallet for a pool. I looked at this pool http://pool.burstcoin.biz/ and cannot find a registration/login link.

I haven't checked out the wallets from Burstnation yet... but for the wallets you can download from www.burst-team.us all you do is literally click "start mining" (down at the bottom) and you get a choice of pools that are pre-loaded in the wallet. Obviously assuming you've already plotted some space in your HDD. There may be another step or two but it's not complicated.

I'd be careful depending too much on info coming from burstnation. "Official" is a self-appointed term by the mods over there. That forum is heavily moderated (bans are issued quickly if mods don't like what you say, especially for talking about assets they don't manage). The first Burst forum, https://forums.burst-team.us, is censorship-free, with tons of people willing to help.
