@Spexx, I am yet to check the prior posts, compilation and test it out, I thought your compilation is based on cygwin; just came across this, if this is something useful to improve the efficiency; http://zachsaw.blogspot.de/2012/10/multithreading-under-cygwin.html

Thanks for that - I will give it a good read.

How mine with Windows ?
Check the OP for guide; use the CPU miner compiled by Spexx and MarcusDe in recent posts.

If you want, come to IRC #magi, look for joelao95, I can help you from there.

Well that was interesting. It seems that Cygwin does not properly support pthreads (Posix threads) and these are used extensively in the C++ code. It would need a C++ programmer to have a look at the code and convert it to use boost::thread instead. Apparently not too big a task for an experienced programmer but it kinda put my head in a spin when I looked at it. I have compared minerd performance with versions compiled by Cygwin and MSYS. Cygwin definitely has the edge in terms of speed (i.e. Kh/s - about 12 percent faster) but only when minerd is using a single thread. I don't have the time to go through the learning curve right now so if there is somebody out there willing to have a go at converting the code to use boost::thread it would be much appreciated.

I dont understand the block reward, 5?

Read OP (very top and magiupdates):

09/21: How does the new block rewarding system look like: fist look; misc (IRC): https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=735170.msg8919460#msg8919460

If you watch a few blocks, you will notice reward jumping around, sometimes > 100.

Looking at the current net hashrate my guess is that the big operator just don't care and settle with 5 XMG per block, price might adjust if it becomes more scarce this way...in theory.

The idea was nice but maybe a bit too idealistic i guess  Undecided

If they have free AWS credit or use botnet, they may don't care; while running hundreds of cores that means a lot, won't get ROI with this low rewards, or they really have faith in XMG. Probably not that bad probably if we continue with the reward (average block values would be higher than 5).

p.s., market cap so far:
Code:
Magi	3202	9 minutes	1	3.51	7690 satoshis	$ 43,824

Coin Magi Video Teaser - Introduction to the First Hybrid: PoW/PoS-II

I'm still working on the pool to get it to support the network
In the mean time, I came up with this to help spread magi around

Video link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W71FVD6YWM8 (2:04)

Special Thanks to developers of Coin Magi for giving us an opportunity of fair mining!
Credits go to my team who helped me make this video possible with their editing.

Please let me know what you all think, Magi community Smiley

I support Magi the first anti-botnet mining network to give regular miners the fair chance of mining. Talk to #Magi on IRC: https://kiwiirc.com/client/irc.freenode.net/#magi or on BitcoinTalk: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=735170.0

We need a solid cpumining network to resist any big miners. Please setup VPS (FREE, follow this guide: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=735170.msg8800103#msg8800103) for mining; you can get about 20 kh/s hash rate for a month.

Folks we cannot forget that Joe and the team needs our support.

it is okay that we are mining away -- but in the mean time, can we consider contributing to the growth of XMG in other areas?

Read 111magic and Joe's post below. This is the type of thing that will set magi apart from all the others out there.

Plus, naturally there is interest and investors after seeing its new algo, its potential to grow, and community involvement.

Best Magicoin XMG friends,

I follow Magicoin from the beginning.
After a lot of work from the developer the launch was successful.
There was a lot of pressure on him.
Logical because he wants to please everyone.
There are many questions to the developer.
He does his best to answer all questions and resolve any problems.
He is also online daily.
This is a sign of a good developer.
I have had seen otherwise.
Unfortunately, some posts falling away quick for new posts that are placed.
This while questions are asked to the community that is involved in decisions.
With regard to the donations I think it could be better.
Not to mention that there are some people who are very helpful with XMG. Very good and nice to see.
Below the list of donations.

Lionheart78        10,000 Magicoins
Dukektm              5000 Magicoins
111magic            0.025 BTC

I hope that all of us in this fine and special community has the same purpose and we can make Magicoin XMG a serious competitor in the altcoinworld.
The developer has indicated below, open and transparent in order to cope with the donations.
So if you feel involved in this community please donate. Every little helps.
Make sure your name is on the donation list.
Thanks for reading this post.

Some plans

This is the 5th day since launch; it won't be very necessary at this time to focus on big exchanges, but going forward, some works should be done upfront.
1) we are forging the marketing plans, one of those will be the better organization of twitter, facebook, reddit, and maintain regular updates;
2) plan to get on few more exchanges; swisscex and c-cex are two of them;
3) I've been in touch with some magi followers, some of them have provided us very nice supports; for example, ex33s offered us the dice game without asking for any bounties. Also someone mentioned working on Android wallets, while what he wants is to see the success of Magi. It's my pleasure to have them, and my work to make magi staying with user base like them.

Among these tasks, block explorer and rich list will be a more urgent one since it is needed to get into coinmarketcap and most of exchanges (e.g., bittrex). I've contacted http://blockexperts.com about this, with a charge of 0.1 BTC to create and host the explorer. It should be done soon once confirmed. The following plans will be exchanges then.

A public pledge

I'd like to send a pledge out for fundraising if you can help us. We current have limited access to magi funds since that is based coin swap, while coin swap has been delayed significantly. In some cases, BTC is needed to help promotion and importantly to get us on exchanges. Here we ask for your supports to carrier out various tasks:
1) Articles, media, video
2) promotions in social networks (registered PoA, promotion in twitter will spend some BTC too)
3) exchanges (likely somewhere to spend funds to promote and get people into this aspect)
4) reaching out people to apps dev (BTC will be likely an effective way of doing this)
5) and more ...

Wallet address:
BTC - 188AmugttD1jfy2xYNy6muTzVzYha1JEuq
XMG - 95V9eZnrghtEriGUhBwwEuqMbDm1HBJ58u

We will record all donators name, and BTC/XMG address. Your donation won't be completely free, rather we will return a portion in the form of BTC or XMG back to you later on, once we can, according to your donating weight.

MagiTeam

Magi team will be created coming out from the community. Magi had a good start, and will continue to grow. With few new features, cpu mining, coin distribution mode, and the PoS-II (we didn't talk about it much yet), magi will be a well-formed base to allow it grow up. Anyone who can contribute to magi, please contact me for bounties, or you want kindly donate your contribution (we will maintain a list for this for future disbursement when we have funds and are able to support).

Anyone who is interested to join us please send me a PM; out of Magi already had, we welcome coin/apps dev to enhance this aspect. We will also reach out other coins for possible cooperation.

Any suggestions to make magi better are welcome!

This thing is rare, has good community backing, it's just getting its engine started.
For a new algo, I am expecting magi to be on the route darkcoin went on..

Need some advise...
How do I synch the wallet if I am under a proxy?...
Also, is solo mining profitable here or is running pool more recommended?... Cheesy
