I think XMR's emission after all the coins have been mined will actually help in adoption, encourage a bit of spending and could have a wider distribution than BTC.

Pure deflation would encourage more hoarding, less spending and could even cause the economy to stagnate.

Many are afraid of tail emission from wrong reason. And even from perspective of that reason they are wrong since in the next 10 years Monero will have lower inflation then Bitcoin.
Bitcoins inflation will be higher then of Monero from the year 2020 to 2025. After 2025, when Monero and Bitcoin inflation will even again, will Bitcoin slowly start realizing why Monero choose tail emission. It is not because of any economic reason but technical. Solving a problem that Bitcoin still need to solve.

The Cryptonote guys, whoever they are, prolly mostly thought it was very important in keeping the source of the blocks, aka the miners, interested in doing their job.  But what they didn't realize was its effect on Monero's economy, which I think is mostly positive due to the reasons stated above.

The users need money in their pockets to encourage spending, hence creating a growing economy.  Something that won't happen in a pure deflationary currency that encourages hoarding.

Monero used to look very good, but over the past year, it has become less interesting, although I think it makes sense to hold it for another year and sell it on the growth. Who thinks anything about it, is there a charge for this coin on ToTheMoon?

Nope, there will be no moon. This coin has already topped out and will no longer rise. It is a good time to dump on the next pump and never look back. Smiley

Probably means 'too real' and not hyped, marketed and ico'd enough. Just gently doing it's thing in the general tide. Boring for some. Very promising for others.

Yes it took me awhile to go through and it's done very well. I joined just to keep up with this as opposed to that childish Monero Observer that I read one (and skimmed most of that) and a half of the second and couldn't take anymore. But to be fair I did email him to try to offer help which he ignored.

I think Monero is one of the very few coins, which are rich of endorsment, the real sense is not to hype, instead giving an alternative to the current money and payment system. So the success will be natural and lead by confidence  Grin Cheesy Wink

As a part of the October Hard Fork (Network Upgrade), a Proof Of Work change to mitigate any potential centralisation from ASICs (Monero promotes decentralisation via CPU/GPU mining only) has been taking place over on Github here.

The code merge of BulletProofs to testnet took place early last week. Bulletproofs improve scalability, providing an ~80% reduction in transaction size and cost.

Yup, as soon as upgrade happens we will need to pressure all exchanges to reduce their withdrawal fees drastically. More then 0.005 XMR will not be acceptable anymore.
