Miner "Happy" (S3 nbr 5) went into a coma last night...probably the controller, will find out today. He has given his DPOA (Durable Power of Attorney) to ckpool to go for it. The rest (Dopey, Sleepy, Sneezy, Grumpy, & Bashful) are fine...Doc Jr, Sneezy Jr, and Bashful Jr (S7s) are also mining away. Happy said on his way out that he's putting in a word for us in the BTC "ether" (no reference intended to the coin of the same name).

I've decided to do the same with any new gear...most likely an S9 at this point, although my revenue stream is more like another S7. We'll see. I'm most comfy with shipping it here first, program it, and burn it in for at least 24-48 hrs before giving it to the dogsled (I can do that by shutting down all the S3s for a bit to get the necessary amps). It's worth the extra US$70 it costs to ship it again for the peace of mind (ie., ownership audit trail, etc.).

Just hooked up my second S7 onto the kano pool, why is my hash only at around 6 th/s? Did I set it up correctly on the kano.is site? on my configuration I have both S7's hashing at 4.76 th/s.
My share rate shows about 11.2 th/s what is that rate?, and my hash rate right next to it shows 6.1 th/s what do these mean?

You will not achieve full share hash rate until you reach 5Nd, about 24-48 hrs after a machine comes online. Use Zach's monitor program to see your present actual hash rate, and your 5Nd rate. See https://www.ckpoolmonitor.zachmonroe.com/, set up your login, and then you can look at "Dashboard" and see the specs Mine on. Edit: You can also check the Workers tab on kano.is, which shows your share and actual hash rates in hard numbers for each machine. The monitor, however, gives you the actual 5Nd. I'm guessing that's the numbers you're looking at. That's what they mean. Here's a screenshot that shows what I mean...note that Sneezy Jr (S7) has a lower share rate than the hash rate...it went online yesterday morning. That share rate will continue to climb (providing the machine stays up) until it reaches full hash rate. This discourages pool hopping and stabilizes things considerably. It works. https://i.imgur.com/ZXX5MNG.jpg[/img]]

OK, finally gone thru all the logs to work out why we got a second orphan There's really no reason other than block distribution within China must have some bias ... ... ... For all relay nodes, our block was there first, including on the Beijing relay node ... The non-Chinese nodes we were well ahead. The Beijing node we were 1.169s ahead. The relay itself has been pretty fucked for the last few days, and US-West has been dead for about 3 days (and still is) Beijing relay node has been only sending blocks, no transactions, for a few days and that was only fixed 20 minutes before our orphan. Also note that the Beijing relay says "This node sponsored by: f2pool" ... ... ... That's probably not the cause, but I thought I'd mention all that. I started setting up a second CN node last night, I'll make sure it's complete today, to see if that can help in any way. Here's the run down of what happened: Block: 417949 Our orphan: 000000000000000005077915f4248c8a9628ccdb32f707707682f78db3154b65
HaoBTC: 00000000000000000138e9108b99f844734c4471818ab2cedecad27622d4e3f6
Confirmed by: FUPool (266kB block)
Our share arrived on the main node: 19:05:21.158
Our block arrived on the CN node 19:05:21.254
Our block accepted by CN node 19:05:22.853 (yep clearly a bit of a delay there, 1.599s) block processing times on the CN node last 233 blocks: avg 0.361s
Our block sent to CN relay 19:05:22.912
HaoBTC block from the CN relay: 19:05:24.081 (1.169s later)
For the rest of the relays I directly monitor: 19:05:21.626 Us on US-East 19:05:22.029 Us on JP 19:05:22.511 Us on EU 19:05:23.770 HaoBTC on EU 19:05:24.935 HaoBTC on JP 19:05:25.074 HaoBTC on US-East
(N.B. US-West has been dead for about 3 days)

Howdy folks. Perhaps a dumb question that I think I already know the answer to... I (finally) changed my worker names on my machines to "username.S7.1", "username.S7.2", etc. to better keep track of individual performance and to differentiate the machines when my S9 arrives next week. On the "Workers" page it still has the old single username I was mining under. Does that drop off after 7 days as I think it will? Thanks. On to Block Sunday! Eat moar chiken!
