[clip] Now that my waterfowl are sufficiently aligned, I can kick off the little local project of making BTC available to folks on disability and low income, and whom have no long-term security at all. Been working on it for a while. I'll start a new thread on it, though. When it's up I'll let y'all know so you can hammer my logic. I think your project is awesome! Just wanted to say that

[clip] That's a very nice psu at a great price, but if you don't have 208/240v then you have to go with something like the EVGA 1600P, which runs very well at 110/120v on a 20amp circuit. Where is our block? 15+ hours and counting..... There P.S. there's no point counting blocks in hours ... P.P.S. and all the stats numbers are still better that 100% ... Yes, I know. I don't really, nor do I even count blocks in days. I look at the weeks & months and for sure this is the best performing pool. But it's kinda like sex....you hit a little dry spell & you wonder if you'll ever get any again..hehe. (with apologies to anyone who may be offered by my crude analogy). Wow! 5 blocks already today! Think I need a cigarette

I CAN SEE CLEARLY NOW THE "RED" IS GONE IT'S GOING TO BE A BRITE, BRITE, BRITE, ......GREEN DAY Mark my words. We will see 550$ again before halving. good I will buy some more coins. I hope to see under 450 as the diff will drop a lot. Back to mining here. I see an exploit issue for all 5n pools on the day before the ½ ing It only lasts for 12 to 30 thirty hours on this pool > I was going to post a pm explaining it to kano, but I decided to mention it here this way to be transparent. I don't see it to be a major problem but I think it should be explained in case a few people try to do it. Some would say don't mention it you are only going to cause more people to do it. Since it only happens to pools with a 5n setup like here and it only happens right before a ½ ing I will explain it. Blocks are 25 coins now and will be 12.5 coins. My 5n is 50th so 50th right now should earn about .12 btc in one day. So the 5n expires or lasts 30 hours more or less. So 24 hours before the ½ ing I hop from the pool. and for the 24 hours my 5n drifts down from 50th to about 10th say for the 24 hours I average 30th. So kano.is will pay me about .07203 for the 24 hours. assuming kano.is has normal luckI move my 50 th to horror of horrors f2pool and they pay me 0.115296 and I get 0.187326 for my 24 hour time period. ½ ing happens I shift my 50 th back to kano.is takes me a day to ramp up to 50th but rewards are 12.5 coins so the punishment for hopping pools is 50% of the reward for hopping the pool. This only happens on the day before a 1/2ing event. I am commenting the solar array to mine here during that time period and will not do the hop and return move. I only mention this because no one has written about this statistical advantage of a one day hop from a 5n pool to f2pool. I really prefer to be as open as I can and when I find something out like this feel everyone should be aware of it. So if you have figured this out and were going to do it do not be angry that I revealed this. At kano feel free to delete this if you prefer to delete it. Best regards Phil

Yes PPLNS has a common minor exploit on a diff change (and a halving) On the diff change it's quite small, and quite pointless, on the halving it will be more obvious. But it's not a case of "ZOMG" if I go somewhere else I'll get more after the halving, it's the opposite, it's simply that as 5ND crosses the halving, for the length of the 5ND up to the halving, shares drop, in block steps, from X to half of X. So if everyone wants to drop off the pool for 24-32 hours before the halving, I won't be worried ... since as soon as the halving has happened, simple fact: if you keep mining somewhere else, you'll get paid less. N.B. it happens on any non PPS payout.

Yup, Phil...I knew of that as well, but I'm not terribly concerned...actually, not at all. There's a certain insecurity for a person faced with their earnings being cut in half...as they see it. That's not exactly how it works out, though, and I still think that anyone really committed to BTC is well served to keep their eye on the prize. I'm glad you noted it (I was sort of pushing the idea around of noting it, but I was still asleep when you posted ). By the time I woke up (like now), Kano had done a really good job of detailing it from his end, and I'm seeing a bunch of blocks that made the orphanage project moot. I love it when a plan comes together.

interesting read. The three P.O.S. pools will crash the coin out if they are really doing it exactly as accused. Which means the un - named Alt coin will be boosted by this behavior ( I know no ALT COINS to be mentioned). I know I have done a 2 year long set of diff threads giving away a lot of btc for a few reasons, one of which was to track the diff moves publicly. So diff manipulation seems pretty factual based on my studies of diff since Summer of 2014. Not so sure what can be done since asic's are mostly built in China.
